I think if we're just talking about g1 goldfishing, Ruby is definitely better. However, Gifts Storm is much better at fighting through hate in post-sideboarded games, especially Drannith Magistrate, which is nightmare for the Ruby versions, as it not just shuts down Past in Flames, but also all of your cantrips, so you can't even effectively dig to an answer.
I miss the days of gifts storm. One of my first modern decks back in the day. I’d love to see you play more of this list. I know you’re playing opt to hold up mana for counterspells, but I’m curious to see preordain in the slot, and just slowing down and casting it when you can still hold up interaction. Also, bolt was boarded in so often I wonder if it’s worth just mainboarding
Been tinkering and theory crafting Gifts since the release of Ral. I like Ruby, but the deterministic kill in Gifts is attractive to me over the potential fail rate in Ruby. I have both built, but still haven't made up my mind on which I like more lol. I think Sink into Stupor is a easy card to slide in and acts like a pseudo Remand when you need it. With the wealth of cantrips we have access to now, why Opt and Consider over Serum Vison, and Preordain/Sleight? I assume it to accommodate the 4 Pierce? Also been trying Wish along side Gifts and have liked it so far. 3 gifts, 2 wish with the 4th Gifts in the SB along side the 3rd Pif. Would love to pick your brain lol
50:02 You can respond to Ral's trigger with the other Manamorphose, giving him a 75% chance to flip instead of just 50%. You usually do this when casting your 5th and 6th instant or sorcery of the turn, so he flips into 8 loyalty. Instead of no, yes, you can accept the result of the 5th trigger if you win, hence 75% vs 50%
I really dig fire // ice in gifts for its interaction of tapping down lands on the oppenents turns along with dealing with low to the ground aggro. I've been running ruby storm but either way its nice to see the OG doing its thing.
What do you think of Storm decks that wouldn’t have really benefited from Ral as they don’t tend to play cost reducers in Modern right now? Things like Lotus Breach or the Amulet Storm list you were playing before MH3?

idk man, this build has no answer to magebane lizard. u definetly should play flame slash instead of bolt in side. u have literally 0 ways to fight the lizard..not even sink into stupor. i mean i guess u r hoping to not facing it but it will happens eventually. and why 0 copies of flame of anor XD
I feel like it isn't a good pivot anymore with all the incidental enchantment removal running around. People have it main deck with Boseiju now- I used to be a fairly good dodge but now force of vigor, Boseiju, etc all answer it too easily IMO.
Ascension hasn't been a maindeck card for storm in like, 8 years? It's just as soft to graveyard hate and thr setup to get it going just wastes time, and can be even softer to graveyard hate while also not doing anything to help you get going until you get it going. Ascension isn't a thing you should consider.

Playing blue also gives access to bounce spells like repeal and echoing truth, great answers to Dsphere or anything else messing with your plan.

The format is so fast to try slowing down, I don’t see that working. Also, bolt comes in to answer other sideboard cards from the opponent.
