- Join me while I show Derek Blasberg (friend & Head of Fashion and Beauty for UA-cam) around my hometown Amsterdam. Catch us take in all the famous clichés, from the Red Light District to the Rijksmuseum, and of course, we go on a boat. I will have some serious Dutch treats in store for Derek (raw fish and waste meat anyone?) and watch out for a very special fashion shoot. It’s not just traditions though, as we finish our trip at one of Amsterdam’s best dance festivals.

@@glorious_help Missing knowledge about geography other than Northern American, ignorance when it comes to different cultures, a kind of prude or narrow minded attitude towards sexuality, and besides all that being very off showing and having a judgy way to look at those things. Those stereotypes are the ones I was having in mind. And I don't say every US American is that way.

OK so during the first 3 minutes I felt really bad for Doutzen. She seems to be such a warm and genuine person. And I felt bad for her because this Derek guy is belittling her several times. He tells her she is addressing the youtube audience wrong, then he asks her to tell him about her country and immediately starts snoring when she does, telling her that she is boring!
I have read other comments saying the same thing as me in regards to Derek's behavior in this video, and then I've seen Derek himself replying to several of the commentators and saying that they are being mean to him.
I personally don't think the commentators want to be mean, they just react when they see him being quite mean towards Doutzen in the video. You can see that she gets a bit sad from his comments and you just feel for her. So Derek if you read this, please take some time to watch this video again and reflect a bit on how you can be nicer to others.

That dude is like that one friend we avoid the entire year because he is annoying and finally we agree to meet cause we start to feel guilt and as soon as we meet'em we regret it 😑...and go another year avoiding him.
@@derekblasberg Derek, you're a nice guy and respectable personality in fashion environment for long long time...which is also the most superficial environment when related to appearance/looks and so on; majority of people being obsessed with appearance, judging others and so on (no all but majority).
We all need to go to the gym btw ;-) especially those who suggest it ehehe.

@@tp3931 ahaha :-) I practice sports since I was 7, swimming and volleyball. I still swim 3 times a week and go to the gym for strength training twice. But the most important thing is that I have a very good culture and education, which is fundamental. "Mens sana in corpore sano"... it's latin and they were so right about it. About the red light district, saw a documentary where the dutch police explained about many eastern european and African women are forced by their pimps to work in that industry. Their families are threatened so they don't report their pimp. They aren't quite the willing and content entrepreneurs people may think they are. Its complicated.

There’s a bit of irony here. Most comments are encouraging Doutzen to be herself, but she is showing her true self by displaying a true friendship on camera.
The editor or production team probably didn’t foresee the type of reaction they would get, but this is common in vlogs where fans perceive their beloved figure being slighted and don’t react well (just ran into another of these type of situations on another channel I follow). Tough to say because people’s interpretation of interactions vary, but I personally enjoyed this first episode!

He's the type of person who needs to assert himself into every situation quite aggressively, while Doutzen is an entire vibe of her own, by herself, so I think this videos would have been so much more interesting, honest and less annoying with just herself leading the video.
I DIDN'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO HER EVENTHOUGH I KNEW SHE WAS FAMOUS.. BUT WHEN I SAW THIS CHANNEL I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AND HER DOWN TO EARTH PERSONALITY.
We are from Mexico but we love the Netherlands dearly, my sister is married to my dutch brother in law and has been living in the Netherlands for the past 16 years, we looove frikandel, bitterballen, speculaas and of course stroopwaffels even though they are hard to get in Mexico. We are so thankful for a country that received my sister with open arms and for the beautiful friends she has made there!!
Honestly Doutzen just be yourself! You don't have to act super excited about everything for us to watch you haha. The fact that you're so down to earth and calm is actually what I like about you in this :) Obviously if you're truly excited there's no reason to hide it but you don't need to fake it :) Excited to see what's next!

Wow you clearly know nothing about him at all. He is an incredibly hard worker, and is extremely professional and polite. But he also is able to express himself and have fun, which is a huge part of how he has become so successful!!
