We loved him in Chicago. I was lucky to see him 3 times. The Aragon Ballroom, the Metro both in Chicago and in a raging blizzard in St. John's (?) Indiana, a hockey rink called the Omni. High energy from start to finish. At the Aragon show, I screamed in between songs for "Souped Up Ford" and sure enough he eventfully played it. I was walking on the clouds. We always went with the same bunch of fellow musicians we had worked with at one time or another , some blues, some rockers, some classically trained and we all loved Rory.
Somebody asked : What is in your brown bag ? I said: THE BEST Musik you have EVER heard.RORY GALLAGHER ! 91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,100 Percent, so that you forget EVERYTHING Pain at all.
I love the faces he pulls when he's playing, that's how you know he can feel the soul in the music. Also, when he shakes his head he looks like a shaggy dog! Pure Irish legend guitarist. Fucking bitching musician! we love you Rory ya mad joke!
I was born & raised in ohio...back in the late 1970's people used to tell me I looked like Rory.......I had never heard of him before....finally checked him out...I play guitar ....but nobody ever accused me of playin like him!............
Man I wish I saw Rory. Nobody ever talked about him when I was growin up in the 80's. I didn't discover him until the late 90's. I got to see most of the greats that were alive in my day, but he slipped under the radar. Pisses me off. He is own of my favorites and perhaps the best of all that old 60's lots.. At least I got UA-cam..
George Kapitanelis I was a teenage kid in the 70s + listening to music . I had all kinds of records 45s - then lps then 8 tracks ,Aerosmith ,Robin Trower,LedZepplin,Stones,Steppenwolf ,Thin Lizzy,The Band + I never even heard of him till I was 50 years old ; I'm 54 now ,same thing here with me no one ever mentioned him.
I know that Cisco blues fest is nothing about the blues anymore.. ohm,y God I miss Rory Gallagher more every year ..there will never be anyone like this freaking guy again.. what a total package,, uncanny supernatual talent, looks, brains and most of all a sense of values and integrity .. this guy was his own person yet he never had a big head.. Last of then Independents indeed .. sigh
Yeahhh.... Too much alcohol, Yeahhh.... I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol, Well, I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol. Ahhh.... shiver up my spine.. every time I listen to this great version of this song.... Feel privilliged to have seen him perform life back in the late 70tees. This has been a magical experience never to be forgotten...
i heard the name, but i didn't hear the man until i was older.SOOO much soul and personality.late 60's and 70's brought so many artists that were so good at what they did.the last one we had i think may have been stevie ray vaughan.then i think the lord said ,"i'm having creators block"..

It's on a dvd "Rory Gallagher Live at Montreux", It's a double dvd but don't know if it's released in the states, good luck, hope you find it,it's amazing!
In Wikipedia it was wrote that his Liver failure was brought on by excessive, repetitive use of Paracetamol ( I expected the culprit to be booze, and , for all I know, it was the one with the other (?) ) and he actually had a Liver transplant. So very young to die and a tragic waste of Talent and Love. A genuine nice guy by many many accounts.😢

Living for 30 years without discovering something is worth mentioning. You discovering Rory Gallagher the same day as your first pubic hair is nothing to write home about.
@dublingero Both times were in the stables, mullingar, last year...great gigs... i cant wait for Rory Fest next year... ment to go last 2 years but didnt get the chance...
In Ottawa they hold an anual festival called "Blues Fest". When you see the list of artists it is hard to see why they don't change the name to "Pop Fest". To bad Rory isn't still around to teach the organizers the blues.
43 and just really learned about him and started listening a year or so ago...I'm glad I did! Rory was the MAN!
I found him later in life too, thank you internet. He's a blues master. 🖤🤘🤘
My absolute hero, and the reason I began to play the blues .Makes me proud to be Irish , RIP Rory

RIP Rory..Great musician with tons of soul on his playing
And as I sit here semi shitfaced/hungover this morning, there is no better song to listen to.
And that's why do you have to be so rude with the boy? I feel sorry for you.
Rory is awesome! I like so much this song :-)
I was born & raised in ohio...back in the late 1970's people used to tell me I looked like Rory.......I had never heard of him before....finally checked him out...I play guitar ....but nobody ever accused me of playin like him!............
heheh...
Lol. Yeah, wish I could play half as well as rory could. What a legend!
this man is one of the unrealised legends of rock and blues, if there was any fecking justice he'd be realised for the craftman he was
I understand why he loved alcohol

Rory please come back !!!!!
Its plain open D, not altered. The chord's he's grabbing are G and A7
Chord 1 (G in open D) x-2-0-1-2-0
Chord 2 (a7th in open D) x-0-2-1-0-2
@redrory1000 Right, it was never said, never happened, it is just a hoax, repeated by so many ppl here on YT that it seems to be true,
Bartender that's ninety nine, make it one hundred per cent (jajaja, excellent)
But, my baby tell me to drink...
@galsandlagher Yea iv seen them twice... best Rory Tribute act... once with the full band and the second time it was just the singer guitarist (Barry Barnes) playin acoustic... amazin gigs!!! and the same there was very little at the gig which is a shame!!
wonderfull played we keep your music alive dear rory.(rip)
Too much alcohol, mais 100% de joie dans les veines.
Un talent pur trop vite parti malheureusement
If Clapton is God, Rory Gallagher is the Devil in the shape of a man!!! My favourite guitar player, side by side with Hendrix...
@thepoisonwhisky NO!!!! Don't drink that whiskey! It's poison!
It's a bit of a D-Modal thing though - DADGAD.
i would like to thank firstly the people who invated the internet and then the youtube, and the guy who upload this of course, for listening and watching this video..one bottle of whiskey(famous grouse..SORRY RORY..),one botle of wine and this song hits my brain..too much alcohol..thank you rory
Heaven yeah !
Yes, I can understand that, but music is universal you know.....
In the end, we are all "Out of Africa".....
@butcer83 For all the people who continually keep puttin this on every youtube link... did it ever occur to you he was bein sarcastic?
glen wallace i think it could possibly be in an open E tuning tune the A to B the D to an E and the Gto a G# GIVE IT A TRY N START JAMMIN TOM THE RECORD
@Philby62 who do you mean with JB?

Living for 30 years without discovering something is worth mentioning. You discovering Rory Gallagher the same day as your first pubic hair is nothing to write home about.
take your time learn it by ear
@dublingero Both times were in the stables, mullingar, last year...great gigs... i cant wait for Rory Fest next year... ment to go last 2 years but didnt get the chance...
Meh, Rory is the only Guitar God there is, he gives out the golden tickets to the other goldy players and allows them there godliness. = P
@skypie1128 "when the levee breaks" was recorded in G and then slowed so it sounds like F, or so ive been told... :p
o θεός (rory) και το αλκοόλ σώζουν !!!!!
Ironically, he had a serious drinking problem and died of a MRSA infection two weeks after his Liver Transplant.
Well, he used to switch tuning from standard to open during the show instead of changing guitars.
Is that a Triolian?
@Gillesderais71 Good call about John Cusack! :) A biopic would be well deserved; RIP Rory
Incredible performer!! Don't you think John Cusack would be perfect to play him in a biopic?
Sorry, didn't mean to depress you. I just tend to see too much irony in everything.
In Ottawa they hold an anual festival called "Blues Fest". When you see the list of artists it is hard to see why they don't change the name to "Pop Fest".
To bad Rory isn't still around to teach the organizers the blues.
if anyone know were i can get the full tab for this please msg me. thanks
R.i.P Rory
open D surely :-) there isn´t even bit of sound of DADGAD trust me :-)
D, its E...
Shouldn't cut it with water...Use juice :D
