The Maestro. Rory was a genius of a guitarist in every genre, from slow blues, folk,to hard rock and even a bit of country. There'll never be another like him.Just a humble modest Irishman who played guitar at the top table. A wonderful human being and a virtuoso/Magician on guitar, what a legacy the man has left, sublime ☘
I agree completely, as for the best there ever was as it's been said & even by me, but it's a hard topic to have a "best there ever was or something like that because there have been so many great's, it would vary from genre of music for one, those who have been taken too soon to make any comparison, those who are not born yet, and the various other conditions that might in some ways, make a difference. He is definitely at the top of my all time guitar heroes, there have been others, way too many to name, if I started with one, I'd have a long list of others that fit right there as well, especially when they were in the 70's, we had ample supplies of great guitar players for sure. I really don't think there is a "the best ever to pick up a guitar" but I do think we should appreciate them for even the short time they are of this world sometimes, for the legendary players like Rory that they are & never let them be forgotten in our hearts in our head, I think Rory loved the audience maybe more than they loved to him, and if he never made a dime, he would've played for his fans free of charge if it ever came to be, that was where he found his calling, by making people happy when they listened to him play. His last performance's were proof that he loved it, anyone else would have regretfully had to call it quits, when he would have gone out on stage for his fans if he knew he would have been dead before he played the last song with the heart he had each and every time. I hope I worded that the way I wanted it to sound, Rory lives as long as I do & I'm sure so many others agree, it was a blessing to us all to have known of his amazing talent!

I also love it whenever Rory jammed with Bella or Feltham... he always looked at them with such happiness and anticpation...... He seemed to really enjoy feeding back and forth with them.
I was GLUED to ANYTHING Rory released back in the 70s. Special ordered "LIVE TASTE" when it was an import in the US (paid a whole $6.00! in 1976!) I kind of lost touch with his music in the 80s, then had a bandmate in the mid-90s who said his former band shared an equipment storage in NYC with Rory. He said, "It's such a shame he died..." I was TOTALLY CRUSHED! I felt like I'd abandoned him! Thanks for sharing this great vid! I've met and chatted with Bela a few times in N'ville.
Tears when I watch this..such a beautiful and talented man. He contributed his uniqueblues rock style and always stayed true to himself over many many years he spent developing as an artist as we all enjoyed his unstoppable energy and showmanship. I was so sad to see him go.. just haven't decided till' now to express my opinion.
And sadly a few months after this concert Rory was called to the great gig in the sky....I think Rory should be made the new patron Saint of Ireland....

And a little story about it: Bela and Rory hadn't met before this encounter.
