Purity and greatness are often not linked. Both words describe Rory. He never deviated from the music he loved. Fame was not important. Playing to an appreciative audience was. For that, I am forever grateful. He remains along with Robin Trower, my favorite guitar players.

He's brilliant! I think Rory's up there in blues heaven with Stevie, Jimi, and other dearly departed musicians who left us far too soon, just having the time of his life. And I hope we see them all again someday!

I have this song on my profile, and every few weeks or months i come back to it on this page to see how the number have grown, it was this guy that got me interested in playing guitar when i was a kid, a real genius .....sorely missed.

Rory always embraced his audience. He made them feel like they were part of the show. He would jam, & hang, & talk to his audience like they were at his place. Very laid back, but stay away when Rory rock's that Strat, cause he'll just take you to new heights that you've never been to before. RIP Rory & keep Rockin'. Me, Dave & Still Kickin'

This man just loved to play. Here is someone doing their thing and loving every minute of it. I think this is (his undoubted prowess aside) maybe what made Rory so much better to watch than most of his contemporaries. I am so glad to have seen him live in his prime. Great stuff!
That's our Rory, a fabulous cover. Given Rory was such a prolific songwriter, he really had no need to perform covers. But Rory being Rory, he did the covers as a sign of respect to the original Bluesmen. I'm not sure how correct this is, however I have read that when Rory covered "Messin' with the Kid" and "Bullfrog Blues", so exceptional were his renditions of these covers that he was given the copyright to both songs. No mean feat (if indeed correct). In any case, he certainly composed plenty of incredible music to keep this fan happy. And that's after more than 40 years of enjoying everything Rory ever did. What a guy, to have such a gift yet always kept his feet firmly on the ground. That's the sign of a true musician, in my humble opinion. RIP Rory.
When a real artist does a cover it's to show respect and inform the audience where the roots of the music came from. Its a way to pay it forward so to speak.

Rory was one of those Masters that Too many of us used to mainline music on the AM/FM radio and such missed out on during the 70's and the 80's. I saw his brilliance then and often wondered why this man never made the Media recognition and Fame that he deserved then. Raw Blues/Rock here that Shines!

it sounds like he's playing a 24 string, seriously. i've never said that about anyone else. i first heard Rory on Chicago radio in the early 80's :)
