That's our Rory, a fabulous cover. Given Rory was such a prolific songwriter, he really had no need to perform covers. But Rory being Rory, he did the covers as a sign of respect to the original Bluesmen. I'm not sure how correct this is, however I have read that when Rory covered "Messin' with the Kid" and "Bullfrog Blues", so exceptional were his renditions of these covers that he was given the copyright to both songs. No mean feat (if indeed correct). In any case, he certainly composed plenty of incredible music to keep this fan happy. And that's after more than 40 years of enjoying everything Rory ever did. What a guy, to have such a gift yet always kept his feet firmly on the ground. That's the sign of a true musician, in my humble opinion. RIP Rory.

When a real artist does a cover it's to show respect and inform the audience where the roots of the music came from. Its a way to pay it forward so to speak.

Mister Knight Owl ......exactly, I thought that’s what I’d implied, sorry. I did think I’d said he “kept these old songs alive”, must have been another comment I made. There’s finally a petition to induct Rory into The Blues Hall of Fame, that’s where his memory belongs and imo, he should have been inducted long ago.

Cheers, Rory! Would have loved to have seen him and Gary Moore jamming together, two sons of Erin trading licks and putting folks' jaws on the floor. Both of them passed way too soon. Attention Irish blues guitarists: this is how it's done, so now you pick up the cudgel and make your statement. Don't let Irish blues magic die with Gary & Rory.

Is it just me, or do I hear the possible influence for George Thoroughly Good's "One Bourbon, one Scotch and one Beer"? Rory was one of those Masters that Too many of us used to mainline music on the AM/FM radio and such missed out on during the 70's and the 80's. I saw his brilliance then and often wondered why this man never made the Media recognition and Fame that he deserved then. Raw Blues/Rock here that Shines!

The first concert I went to and it was in 1978. The man took everybody with him from the get go - unique and completely off the chain . I will never forget about Rory, the Celtic legend.

A perfect solist. One person who does not need an orchest.
One person is enough to make us happy with his music,
    Thanks for share.
