Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Barry and Bruce...................This song is so beautiful and I love the short story you tell us before you start singing. Every single day we have to take one step at a time. The story is so dramatic, romantic, and emotional. A little sad, but until you get closer to the end it is a happy song. Barry.....I think this is the BEST song on the "Harmony" CD. It is truly romantic, emotional and of course, you sing it like it is personal and I guess it really. I fell in love with you back in 1974. Thank you Barry. I am so glad you are going to stop touring soon and I will love you every single day after that no matter what you do. Oh, as an aside, The Rolling Stones were in Philly last night and they performers for two and a half hours. You know Mick is 80. He doesn't look so great , but one of my friends was at that concert and had videos that I saw today and he is just like you. He practically runs up and down the stage, back and forth. Played many of his old songs and some new ones that will be released in their new album, the first one in 18 years. He also is as skinny as you are or maybe even skinnier . I know you don't read these comments, but I always feel I have to say something and then we start talking about you, and the one question we had, was Did you ever meet Mick Jagger? You sing this in such a powerful fashion. I have been following Mr. Barry Manilow since 1974. I went out to LasVegas to see him in October of 2023 but he had to cancel the show. I was staying at Westgate. I was so disappointed. Now, I see that he is coming to Chicago one last time in July. I will be seeing the show. I am so happy that Barry Manilow has decided to come back to Chicago. My daughter is autistic and I always wanted to take her to see Barry M. We will be going to his concert!!

Barry Manilow is a guilty pleasure of mine. I grew up with all of his music ever since Mandy, and I've loved his music. For someone who is a primarily a rock and alternative rock music fan, I'll always have a special place for Barry Manilow's music. This song proves he still has it.

I have loved Barry’s music since I was 3 years old and got to see him in concert in 1984 in Wichita Kansas and then Oklahoma City and then back in Wichita Kansas again and I am hoping to see him in Topeka Kansas
All these years later, "Harmony" has finally arrived in New York. Barry modified the song so it would fit a traditional pop song format, and this is amazing. Also from the show, listen to the incredible "Where You Go".

Barry...The first time I saw this version. Boy, the Barry-GRAM this month was unbelievable. Is every thing in that true? Three packs of Pall Malls a day. you don't eat or sleep? Barry.....You are 80 years old. No wonder you are so thin if this stuff was true. If you smoked that many cigarettes a day, how is your voice still singing. I choose not to believe that stuff and the there was the clip on Bette Midler . I know on an interview you did with someone, they asked you about Bette and you said you never see her, so maybe her piece is a little more believable, but you may think you are like you were in the 70's to the 2000's, but we can tell that you are not the same, but we still love you anyway. I love Barry Manilow. I was surprised that he smoked. I believe that he quit and is now vaping at times. He has changed over the years but I hold him dear to my heart. He only sleeps four hours a night. That is what I read. He loves his audience and fans and we will always love him. I am so happy that he is touring Chicago one last time. Thank you for your comment.

This came from a TV special in 2000 called "My Favorite Broadway". I used to have the DVD in that year.
Barry had been performing this song since 1997/1998.
It really was a big shame when the show lost money and other problems suddenly arose around 2003. During legal proceedings back then Barry experienced heart trouble due to the stress of it all.
He was hospitalized.
The best that he could do because Harmony had literally gone into its own coma was record an album of songs from "Copacabana" and "Harmony". He thought he had something going better with it and had a group of gentlemen with him from "Harmony" for a big Mandalay Bay show in 2004 before a Farewell Tour. ( I always wondered what happened to those gentlemen including Brian D'Arcy James who had the lead in "Harmony".)
No go.
Ten years later the show went to Regional Theater in Atlanta and Los Angeles where it was acclaimed and won some fine awards for its professionalism. The runs at both theaters weren't enough.
Here he is in 2022 doing Off-Broadway with it.
The big news for this hit in June 2019, and Barry started to put two songs from the musical back into his Vegas show and very likely in his Lunt-Fontanne Theater engagement for July/August 2019.
While it's wonderful that Harmony has new life now, I can't help but wonder what happened to a couple of musicals assembled/written based on his catalog of hits.
One was in the West End of London called "Can't Smile Without You" around 2008. It was something in the same vein as "Mamma Mia". I remember some UA-cam videos from back then.
He very well could have written a musical around his amazing 2011 album release, "15 Minutes: Fame...Can You Take It?"
Bruce Sussman is as good a writer as Enoch Anderson is (15 Minutes).
But in this case, first there was Harmony.
"Copacabana" was and still is a hit musical that gets picked up by Community Theater and High Schools, just for the record.
Fans like myself are dying for an original album, and supposedly there is one for 2022.

Great song Great performer even greater musical. Praying Harmony finally makes it to Broadway would have been there 2020 but this pandemic got in the way. We need the messages of Harmony now more than ever. Barry used to do encores with this song wish he would do that again.

This is so beautiful and the orchestrations are amazing... But after hearing it, I had Stephen Sondheim's "Take me to the World" stuck in my head. Please take a listen to Sondheim's song and tell me if this isn't just a rewrite of "Take me to the World" written in the 1960s....they are at least very similar.

I ABSOLUTELY , really feel he wrote this song for his high school sweetheart, whom he married when she was 19. His musical ambitions made him walk away from their marriage a year later. He was madly in love with her at the time of their teenage marriage …. But, as he explained. His musical ambitions made his marriage impossible…..
He left her for his own selfish ambitions.. I don’t believe he loved her.. if he did he would have taken her with him… I believe he had other prospects after that, especially when he made lots of money.. he could have brought his real wife with him.. he didn’t.. it tells me Barry had other sexual prospects in his mind.. his wife should have sued him .. so she would have been taken care of..
