    For folks who don't like musicals...this is not a musical. It's a fast paced play that depicts the true story of how these guys created such a unique sound & successfully survived the "British Invasion" with hit after hit. And they perform their hit songs throughout the play. You just want to get up on the stage with them and sing along.

      My oldest son took me to see it in San Francisco. I LOVED IT!! The thing that I wasn't prepared for was the crowd. It was mostly very young teenagers singing and rocking through the entire thing. They knew every single lyric and it was AWESOME!

    I grew up loving the Four Seasons, even had a friend who's dad was friends with them, and met Frankie Valli and Tommy DeVito. The night I went to see "Jersey Boys" with the original cast members was inspiring and one of the greatest moments in my life. The show actually made you feel good that you were alive to see such a show!
    The Four Seasons deserve so much for their music and it is about time they were recognized for their greatness!

    Just saw the show. As a radio DJ who's played all these songs for so many years, what a fantastic show! I agree with those who say by the middle of Act 1, you want just get on stage and sing with them. A very realistic look at what the music business was like in the 60's. And a great tribute to one of the great vocal groups of our time.

    ...the segment "Who Loves You" - I find it overwhelming, the way they sang and danced, kinda brings tears to my eyes. I saw "Jersey Boys" twice. It's the kind of show one would want to see over and over again. Bring it on with John Lloyd Young, who has one of the silkiest voice in the business. I so regret that I did not get to see this original company. Two Tony awards in that line-up of four actors at the end. I was visiting NYC when it was in previews. A friend told me, "Do not miss this. It is going to rule Broadway for the next year." And he was right. I did see the national tour--and it truly was extraordinary. Not just a jukebox musical. The book of the show is incredible. It is one of the most perfect pieces of musical theatre I have ever seen. Not an untrue moment the entire time.

The movie was kind of slow at times (especially at the beginning) and seemed more story-driven (with music to back it up), rather than music driven with a story behind the music.

    Was in Vegas and Jersey Boys was the first time I saw the show. I was so hooked! Then years later in Houston. And finally in Austin. Also saw the Frankie Valli show in Austin. Just can’t get enough of them 😎. I would see them again if the show were revived. The first time I heard of the Four Seasons was the ‘60s and I’m a senior now, they have the magic making me feel young again. Love them so much!

    Jarrod is one of the most underrated voices on Broadway. It was amazing to see all that footage of his childhood, what a tribute. He’s probably the best vocally to grace the part of Frankie in Jersey Boys. His tone and his control with both the falsetto and the chest voice is unmatched.

      The film really bombed, not even getting one Oscar nomination, while the original Broadway show, on which the film was based, won the Tony for best musical, won the Grammy for best musical recording, and won the Laurence Olivier Award for best musical as well. The film wasn't even nominated for any major award.

I am so happy for you that you seized this incredible opportunity, 3x!! John Lloyd Young will always be the best Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys to me, and I've seen 13 different Frankie's so far. He was even better the second time around when he returned to the show during the summer 2012. There is so much power in his voice, and no one even comes close to his acting. Wow! I wish he would do another special engagement...soon!

    • @killerbees312
      @killerbees312 7 років тому +4

      John Lloyd Young failed to carry the film version. The film didn't get an Oscar nomination for anything. It really bombed. Young needed the other 3 Jersey Boys from the original Broadway show. The Broadway show won the Tony for best musical, the Grammy for best musical recording, and the Laurence Olivier Award for best musical. So the Broadway show was much greater quality than the film and was much more successful than the film.

    • @killerbees312
      @killerbees312 7 років тому +3

      John Lloyd Young isn't singing up there by himself by any means. He needed the other 3 original Jersey Boys to carry him. All 3 of the other Jersey boys have formal vocal training in music. Ironically, Young doesn't have any formal musical training and originally wasn't cast in the pre-Broadway run of the show, while the other 3 were. Frankie Valli's rendition of "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" is superior to that of John Lloyd Young.

      @@killerbees312 John Lloyd Young doesn't need anyone to carry him,he holds his own up there,no he didn't play in the pre- broadway cast but was in the Broadway show as Frankie Valli for 2 yrs,he also played at the West end and got asked back to broadway to reprise his role which led to being cast in the movie, so John Lloyd Young needs no one to carry him he does very well by himself ! He also plays concerts in Las Vegas,not bad for someone with no formal musical training that needs to be carried is it?
