Saw these guys in a bizarre concert in Columbus in about 2003.. it was Sponge, 7 Mary 3, Spin Doctors, and Gin Blossoms in a fenced in parking lot, all for $15.. I would have paid $15 to see each of these bands individually.. and all were great
The thing that I like about this song is his voice. Also, the bass part destroys my shit. And additionally, I think it's just a very well-written song, and the guitar parts are outstanding.
I thought Rock Crown was a fantastic album. I love 7M3 - their music changed (maybe mellowed) a little bit from where they started out. Up to them as to what music they make, I guess.
Riding shotgun in the corvair with the top down listening to cumbersome and smoking cigs. Wish i could turn back time. (1998) junior in high school RIP Williams
I disagree. He tries too hard in the second half of the song by singing the higher harmony parts, leaving the other guitarist to just sing the lead vocal harmony from the record but in a softer tone. Additionally, the other guitarist is also playing a tighter rhythm version of everything the singer is playing to make him sound good. Basically the singer is not being genuine, he's actually being a bit of a controlling narcissist here.
I love this song, this is an amazing performance. I was 8 years at that time, aww the good days, you can hardly find a band these days that are as good as the bands in the 80's and 90's.
Seven Mary Three really did have that post grunge Stone Temple Pilots / Pearl Jam sound , kind of :) they rocked back in the 1990s , the music had real substance and meaning
This gritty, badass rock anthem deserves more playing time on rock stations. This is the first time I see the band performing it live and they look exactly like I imagined. The singer’s eyes are like fire, wild and barely restrained, his voice rough like gravel and when he says “cumbersome” you can feel the dark heaviness behind the lyrics. Great performance worthy of this great song.
first song i ever learned on a guitar, never had a lesson even to this day never a lesson and this is the only song that i've learned that i never forget :) it's just drilled in my brain great rock band and badass heavy song \m/
That twangy sound your hearing in this song, is the delightful signature sound of that Tele that Jason Ross is playing. Not many people would pull off a song like this on a Telecaster (which is typically used for twangy country tones).
I hear more distortion than twang. I think you are listening with your eyes cause he's playimg a Tele...there is nothing twangy about a distorted Tele sound my friend...
I remember seeing this band in panama city beach at the beach club la vela, To this day it is one of the best shows I have seen! They were, at the time, too big to play there but honored their agreement to play as it was booked before they got big. In my opinion the best rock album from a 90's band.(Amerian Standard)
i'm the biggest powerlifting, veteran from the hood you ever met. during this time i could deadlift 800lbs for reps. I never got a workout like this in rochester,ny catching all these crowd surfers for 45ms. never knew who 7mary3 was before that. great band, great crowd, great energy... great night. It was a singular experience
This was the best live band I have ever seen. Saw Metallica and other greats they were the best no joke they were just as good live if not better than their CD.
The only thing that I think the studio version (aka the major label version) trumps most live performances of this song is the harmony backing vocal on the "I have becoooommme..." line. Sounds so succinct in the album version.
I love this old footage of 7M3. I saw them back when this song just came out at Club La Vela on Panama City Beach Fl, They fuckin' ROCKED!!! The best show I saw there, for sure!!!
A song that came out way before it should have music like this nowadays is a dime a dozen and is very hard to find.. this is why i am into my 70s-2009 music.. mainly rock (basically anything MINUS POP COUNTRY cause pop country sucks ass and is remanufactured music) I sing this song at least twice a week in the karaoke circuit all over OKC
Yeah, Cumbersome is off of their second album. They have six other albums. They may have "fallen off the face of the earth", but I still listen to em on a semi-regular basis.
they got their band name from Jon baker he and Ponch were partners in a cop tv show called CHiPs and his call sign was seven Mary three and Ponch’s call sign was seven Mary four! the best show ever! to this day the only show I will watch. Not to mention they are still friends still to this day! Partners for life!!!!!!!!

Keep up the hard work!

Thank you for your service Sir. We have all felt cumbersome at times. My divorce anthem... Best to you .
Know that you are loved...respected...and appreciated for your service...
Song still rocks in 2023. Timeless classic
Still gives me chills all these years later...epic.
One of the best rock singles of the mid 90s, by far.
This is one of those rare song that the lyrics and sound will always be a fresh sound. Amazing this song is 18 years old!
27 years old now! Crazy isn't it
@@DaveE1997 FAK! My comment is 9 years old...LOL
@@DaveE1997 actually you're both wrong. This song came out in 94, but they'd been performing it as early as 93. For all we know it's about to turn 30.
@@BigSmoke-bu6ib the bitter taste is cumbersome
song still kicking ass in 2023. Lyrics are true art
Gotta respect a singer who can rip hard on a guitar and still sing with power and emotion.
you mean power chords?
@@ProfessorShyguy he's not even playing most of the time, the other guy is literally there to make him sound good.
Dude is literally just doing one down stroke for each chord.
Back when bands sounded the same live as they did in the studio.
Truth
They still do but thats because nowdays they play a recording live too😂😂
The best band EVER for that is Rush,
but Seven Mary Three shows some respectable talent here in that regard.
Stone Temple Pilots sounded BETTER than their albums live all the way through the Shangri-la-De-Da tour.
Agree, miss it so much. Seen alot of live performances from many great artist!

how are these guys not bigger....this is real music
This album was great all the way through and they followed it up with nothing. That's why
Not yet..always hoping for another from them though
Hey, Marc, cool name =)
jeff mceachern I always thought so
I thought Rock Crown was a fantastic album.
I love 7M3 - their music changed (maybe mellowed) a little bit from where they started out.
Up to them as to what music they make, I guess.
This was back when awesome bands played on late night shows
Miss bands like these from the 90s hard to find good music like this today I'm stuck in the 90s till I leave the Earth
young boy with talent Greta Van Fleet is more of a Rush/ Zeppelin sounding band but after I saw them I fell in love mate!
Classic 90’s vibe. Love this video.
"She wanted me less and Im wanting her more." That'd be it right there
Where every song on the radio reminds you of her.
He's singing some cosmic truth right there. ❤
one of my favorite 90s songs!! i love the complete album!!! greetings from Mexico!!
I was going through a breakup right about the time this song was on the radio regularly. It did kind of help in a bittersweet way.
Man. I was rocking on my dorm room listening to this on my ROCK FM radio in 1997. \m/ \m/
Love this song, had the CD when it came out. Been a hot minute since seeing these guys, I had no idea Dawson Leary was the lead singer!

No
Back in 1997 I was in the USMC stationed in Okinawa Japan. Me and a fellow Marine used to play guitars and jam out to this song!
Banana show... Semper civilian

Janice Waldron huh? Why?
Janice Waldron Weird
Janice Waldron Did you have his baby or something?
Growing up listening to the best music... priceless!!!
Badass song. I liked it the first time I heard it.

Check out Days of the New, I remember someone in the comments of one of their songs putting it this way: they're the grunge movement altogether.
@@Safetysweet I agree!!! Days of the new is an awesome band too !!!

One of my fav ever! great song Love the 90's always.....
I was 14 when I saw this! I still love them! You do the math.....
As a former Orlando drummer and vocalist, I was around when this band was tearing up the town in Lake Mary, such an awesome squad.
This song still kicks ass in 2022!!!!!
That’s the good thing. You knew what you were getting. The cd music was the exact same as when they played live
Never gets old

GREAT SONG !! Hands down
I WISH 1996 COULD HAVE LASTED FOREVER
ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!
over 13 years ago..wow. Great performance here.
That twangy sound your hearing in this song, is the delightful signature sound of that Tele that Jason Ross is playing. Not many people would pull off a song like this on a Telecaster (which is typically used for twangy country tones).
Some of the biggest rock musicians of all time used Telecasters lol what are you talking about?
I've seen Brad Whitford rip one up!
There are no rules in rock brother. Also if you set your amp correctly and or put different pickups in the guitar you can use a tele for anything.
A Telecaster is universally badass. It’s the play anything and everything guitar.
I hear more distortion than twang. I think you are listening with your eyes cause he's playimg a Tele...there is nothing twangy about a distorted Tele sound my friend...
I loved this song when it came out. I think I was a freshmen in highschool. Man I'm old.
