  • Marc Allen of Creative Scalps explains in detail how to achieve symmetry with any type of hairline design for Scalp MicroPigmentation SMP.
Creating a symmetrical SMP hairline is essential for achieving the most natural look to fit anyone’s head shape and style.
Marc’s background as a celebrity barber and a desire to produce consistent results time after time led him to create a fail proof system to ensure each and every client knows .... 100% for a fact ....that their hairline best suits them and is symmetrical in every way.
With this we can present to you our ‘5 point system’

Why do you “curve the sides”?
I had SMP and I ended up having it fixed because the original shape was unnatural looking purely BECAUSE of “rounded” corners at the hairline and sides. I have never seen natural corners of anyone’s hairline “circle in” like that and I found it just looked very fake on me. My hairline looked like the seam on a tennis ball. I had later gone back and asked for them to be changed to harder (and feathered) corners and the difference was chalk and cheese in terms of realism and I always wondered why anyone thinks these curves look OK?
I see them a lot on other people and I scratch my head.
Genuine question, not intended to provoke. Your work looks great.

It’s all about how it’s down, yes there maybe a curve but it’s about making this curve with a looser density and lighter shades. Quite often the shape is irrelevant it’s more to do with the finish and that’s where a lot of mediocre SMP falls short .

Hi Mark great videos does your technique change from someone that's got long hair or someone that will have a crop so you would do your technique on a cropped head if they grow their hair long will it still look okay cheers Matt

It’s essentially the same, a few small differences. It’s much easier to create details with shorter hair.

Correct yes. It’s different for everyone. It won’t just disappear.
