My dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure last spring. He couldn’t tolerate the diuretic so I had to stop it. He has been on Vetmedin and after watching this video, i added a tincture of hawthorn and dandelion. Yesterday his X-ray showed no fluid in his lungs and his lungs actually look better than last year. His breathing rate remains within normal range. Of course the vetmedin has helped but I think the dandelion and hawthorn has contributed to his heart health. The vet was not impressed by my adding the tincture but with results like this, I don’t really care.
This is really interesting. I've had a few heart dog issues ...dog heart issues lol...and I've used vetmedin. It's super expensive here, but does seem to help. Will remember your experience as well. Thanks for sharing. Very helpful

@@LucyLane07 We did use it but didn't do much good. We still use it for our current dog with cancer. We did find a new cutting edge possibility. Fidocure is fairly new. They take a sample of the biopsy and formulates a therapy to fight the cancer specifically to that exact cancer string. We just gave them the ok to take the sample. It's expensive but worth a try. I would do any thing for my babies. It's a last resort thing. So sorry for your loss. Benson and Boston will be in my prayers.
Excellent advice! I grow hawthorn trees and I gather dandelion every spring and dry it. I dry the berry, then grind it into a powder. I add the two powders to the homemade food.
Hi there. When you grow hawthorn trees can you specify the hawthorn shown in this video? Its not the Hawthorn I know and the one that contains the medicinal properties Hawthorn is known for. Thank you!

I have a dog splenic hemangiosarcoma and have him on Yunnan Baiyou to help with small bleeds, however my dog had heart problems as well, would he be able to have this as well as the Yunnan Baiyou?
Too late for my baby. She was on Lasix and Benazapril. The hawthorn would have been a safer alternative to Vetmedin. One month on Vetmedin, she developed plural effusion. The doc drained it, but her heart was done. She died the next morning. I sure did love that Koko. She was a dachshund and would have been 14 on July 6th.
my dog was 14 he was an American bully when I took him into vets they gave him oxygen.there was a spot on his liver or spleen they didn't know if it was a tumor or what it was he had had. seizure while out on a walk. I rushed him first to my vet then out to a supposed sister clinic to have surgery and the place said they couldn't see him so I had to take him to another vet in the area.he was up and walking around but the doctor said she could not hear his heart beat so she gave him a shot of 50 mg furosemide.after that he was walking and fell.i just collapsed took him home to let him rest and an hour before we were going to the 4th vet mind you (they didn't know what he had it was pleural effusion what I think was hepatic encelapothy and he had enlarged heart he was doing great on hawthorn taurine coq10 dandelion etc but he needed abdominostensis for ascites and one doctor just drained a bit and said he had to go home,)he was still walking but stopped eating and died that evening.I am so devastated I had told the doctor he doesn't like pharmaceuticals as he doesn't do well on them and they literally wrote that on his paperwork!! who does that? I have his remains and I am still devastated I want to rescue another couple of dogs I'm just so sickened because I rely on these doctors to help have to sit here and guess whether he had portosystemic shunt or cancer or mycotoxins.before that his doctor said he had Cushings his current vet said no
What is a good substitute for my cat, I want to give him something naturally, he was diagnosed with heart disease about 5 yes ago and is taking Flusapex the only problem is now he's got Renal disease my concern is Flusapex isn't good for my cat to have with kidney disease?
Thank you, I don’t know what I would do without your help. My dog was diagnosed with heart failure. I usually use herbs, but the vet scared me so I was giving him Vetmedin. As soon as I did he started having seizures. I asked the vet and she said that wouldn’t give him seizures. Looked it up and sure enough it is a side effect. My first instinct was to give him Hawthorn. I finally found a formula calledCardiac support by Fera. It has taurine, L-carnitine, hawthorn and CoQ10
I give the CoQ10 ubiquinol type separately. They can tolerate a high dose. I give mine 200 mg a day. As for Hawthorn it might be better to get it separately instead of all combined and as for taurine chicken livers have high doses of taurine. I par cook just until the color changes so it's still rare inside. I give about a tsp of that daily in his food.
Thank you for this, Dr Jones; you are a gift to the animals and their friends. It made me cry to watch this, though, because it came too late for my most-loved cat, who died from congestive heart failure in 2013. I hope others will at least try it to save their loved ones' lives.
Thank you. His fraternal twin is still here and disgustingly healthy compared with me! Non-GMO food (lesson learned when he got sick and refused to eat GMOs anymore) and your Ultimate Feline give him what he needs to stay playful and beautiful..
I knew from the off that you'd be talking about Hawthorn. My late, very beloved little whippet had heart disease from young. He coughed, esp at night and brought up fluid. So i put him on hawthorn leaf, stem and berry extract, and the coughing ended.only the few times i run out, within a few days he'd be coughing with fluid, and unable to do his daily 100 metre sprint he loved to do. He was almost 11 when he left us, and that was down to pancreatitis our vet had missed in tests. Had i known, I'd have treated him naturally for that. He was suddenly acutely ill and i was told he couldn't be saved during an exploratory operation. But hawthorn makes the heart stronger and is the best remedy. My boy never had to take medication. Hawthorn and fish oil. Thank you for telling people about this, as i do as often as i can.
I had a feeling, too, he was going to mention Hawthorne. I love this video..very informative for dog owners...but my 10 yo kitty was just diagnosed with CHF and is starting 2 meds..diuretic and blood thinner. I'd much rather have her try Hawthorne with Fish oil. I myself take both! Does the Hawthorne help to decrease the fluids in CHF cats? And, If so, what about the alcohol in the tincture..can you give them glycerin? Do you slowly add the Hawthorne, watch the heartbeat, and then slowly decrease the others? Anyone know? Does this sound about right? Ty. Why should I risk her good functioning kidneys? Ty Denise
@@denigrif3 I'm sorry about your cat. I don't have experience with cats, only dogs. The hawthorn extract i used was in powder form by Swanson. They use whole leaf, stem and berry. I wouldn't use a liquid extract with alcohol for my dogs, esp not daily. I gave my 11kg whippet - and they don't have much body mass, so whippets need a bit less of things, in general, unless they are regularly exercising and have large muscles - 1 x 500 mg of Swanson powder in capsule extract, daily. That worked for him.

I will definitely take your advice to heart and buy some Hawthorne Tincture. Thank you! Also, we were at the vet's the other day because my 16.5 yr old has a Peripheral Odontogenic Fibroma on his lower right jaw near his tongue. He's also showing some cognitive behavior but still eats well and playful. The vet recommended Gabapentin oral suspension for possible pain with arthritis etc.... we decided to hold off because of the side effects. She also recommended some Melatonin to help him sleep at night because he was getting my husband up 1-2 times to go outside in the middle of the night. Dear Dr Jones. I have question about compatability of Hawthorne with vetmedin. Can this two be given together? Hawthorne is negative inotropic and vetmedin is positive one? What are your thoughts?
Just left the vet with our ten week old kitten who has HCM? What would be the appropriate age to get her started on both hawthorn and dandelion? May you continue to be a light for those of us navigating this darkness that illnesses bring to our beloved family members. You are appreciated.🫶😭 Purrs head butts from Penrose sent your way.🐾❤️🥺
All, you can also feed your pet chicken hearts as they contain the minerals and nutrients that a heart needs to be healthy. Hearts have taurine, potassium, magnesium, etc. that is often lacking in many processed pet foods. This works for people too. And since heart is a muscle, it tastes good.

Hi Doc!!! As everyone else states...You ARE a GODSEND. We love you so much! I love to support your excellent product line and feel such peace of mind knowing the quality of it. I do have an ongoing question. When you have different sources of help...like dandelion leaf and hawthorn...(other video remedies you may list several items as well)...is it okay to give BOTH? Same day? Every other day? Or should we be picking one of the many choices. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so grateful and have shared you with everyone I know!
My mother had congestive heart failure several years ago. I put her on some herbs and supplements (sadly I don't remember what they were for the most part) The most important one was Coq10. High doses work wonders and when I took her in a year or so later to get her ecg test, they couldn't find any trace of the chf. I know that hawthorne is amazing stuff for the heart. I sometimes take both of them to ensure my health as my doctor suspected at one time that I may have the chf as well.
I quickly cleared up my fifteen year old cats heart murmur by giving him a Sunrider "Lifestream" capsule a day, for a couple of weeks, the problem and the recovery were both confirmed by veterinarians, main ingredients are Cassia Tora, Dwarf Liliturf Root and Sophora Flower!
Where you bought it because my cat have heart murmur and the vet give her Atenolol 9 month ago this month my cat can’t breathe normally I went with her to the ER they give her lasix and Clopidogrel because she had fluid in her lungs it helped a little bit but when they did test for her kidney values the results is bad there numbers getting up so if I stop her medication and give her your remedies . did you think she will get better??

Thank you very much for this video Dr. Just today we learned that our dog of 10 years has an enlarged heart, she has all the symptoms, you mentioned. First we will start with the medications the vet prescribed, afterwards I will continue with the Hawthrowe extract. Thank you again. 🥰🥰
Can the Hawthorne be used with the other supplements ypu suggest in your other videos (and others)? My 10 year old is currently taking prescribed meds ( Vetmedin, Enalapril and Lasix) and using your supplement suggestions (dandelion leaf, cow 10, CBD, fish oil, nettle tea). Wondering if adding this also is too much!!??
I am wondering the same thing as my dog is getting all the stuff yours is and its not only expensive but its a hassle waiting for the vet to approve the rx and holding the meds hostage until I take my dog in to see her just so she can charge me. I also want to know if I can stop the vet meds and keep my dog on the naturals. Or if I wean him off.
Unfortunately, my dog developed a stage one heart murmur due to her teeth being cleaned and the anesthesia was too long and caused her to have a stage one heart murmur! Very sad indeed!! Thank you so much! Susan from Canada!...PS: What would the dose be for a 4 pound Yorkie girl who has been spayed ..... she is not on any medications atm!!! No coughing either....God bless you!!!
So has my little guy for 2 years now. I also give him CoQ10, and CBD oil. Also blueberries are good for the heart, his favorite treat. Now I'm going to find him some Hawthorn tincture.
What signs did your pup exhibit prior to Vetmedin? How did they act afterward? My dog is 17, very strong heart, ran and played daily until my vet said he had a heart murmur. They put him on these meds and I'm honestly afraid they're hurting him. His heart is constantly racing now and he can't run or play anymore. They are telling me it's normal?! I want to get him off of these now and don't know what to do. He was very healthy before he started them 😢.
@@user-xt2rb3no5b it started with a murmur picked up during exam for my dogs too. Didn't start meds until later on, when it progressed to mitrial valve disease. They never suggested meds for just the murmur. Did your dog see a cardiologist before starting the meds? Mine did. For my guy the Vetmedin slowed his heart rate down. That's concerning if it's making your dog's heart race. Did they tell you to count their breaths per minute when resting?
My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism as well as advanced heart disease. Is the Hawthorne okay with the thyroid problem? We just started diuretic, thyroid med and heart med.
I just found out my dog has heart disease. The vet prescribed me vetmedin and waiting for it to arrive in the mail. What is your opinion of that prescription for dogs and can I give my dog Hawthorne while on vetmedin?
Pippy will eat ANYTHING. My TuckTuck, we have a wrestling match! He even watches me to see if I sneak med in food. So I have to lock him up. Then WAIT because he knows I locked him up for a reason. I can't find the Dandelion leaf & root ttincture . Had very hard time finding the tea. Even found a good safe batch of it in the wild. Put it in food. I'm exhausted trying to get and do all I need to do. He gets much much better then, back down again.
Me too! Mine little one is 11 lbs, and can fight like the dickens. I try very hard to Lovingly coax him, he's doing better with the suspensions...but pills...hard. I give him little breaks but stayed closed in the bathroom, or HE WILL GET AWAY AND I CANT CATCH HIM. BUT I SURELY DON'T WANT HIM TO GET SHORT OF BREATH OR GET A REALLY RACING HEART....SO I AM VERY, VERY PATIENT AND LOVING! Mine don't act like the Vets on the video...wish he did!🤣
Hello!! I just love all your videos ❤ our little 4 lb chihuahua got diagnosed with heart disease recently and she was given Vetmedin. However she had sooo many side effects like vomiting and nausea. Thank you for all you do! My male lab mix was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, started him on Theophylline, Vetmedin, and Furosemide - he seems to be doing well (eating habits back to normal - which was the initial concern prior to finding out about his heart). I am transitioning him to homemade food and was thinking of supplementing him with Hawthorne Berry capsules - will this interact with any of his meds? Thank you.
be careful of furosemide and use the natural diuretics this doctor recommends .My dog was 90 lbs and still could not take that it is the strongest of diuretics but t has very bad side effects I trusted a vet to know what she was doing and I firmly believe that is dangerous I also was ready to use some red clover when my dog got home but after that furosemide he wasn't even eating
I'm asking that you please, please answer this question about heart murmurs. My two-year-old Rottweiler was diagnosed by her regular vet with congenital mild to moderate heart murmur. I have yet to get her into a cardiologist because there is such a shortage in my area. So I would love to introduce this but want to make sure it helps for heart murmurs, not just congestive heart failure and other heart disease. When she gets overexcited she salivates excessively and can't handle the heat at all. I would love to find something that would give her a better quality of life with less restrictions. I can only leave her outside for about a half an hour at a time in the heat and I noticed she is laying down intermittently now while I'm throwing the ball to her which is something new. So I am very worried that this might be getting worse. Thank you so much!!
My dog has heart disease, and we are giving him Pimobendan, but he has fluid that we need to drain him every other month and even though we love him so much, it's costing us a lot of money. Is there anything natural that we can give him to keep the fluid down? Thank you.
Makes me sad I didnt know of this before my Poodle died of heart disease. Would it be good to give Hawthorne to dogs to protect from potential heart issues?
Hi can you please provide i dosage information for cats ❓for both supplements you suggested What tincture brand do you use for hawthorn ....is it best alcohol based or. Alcohol free for hawthorn tincture❓ Is glycerine safe I see alot of hawthorn berry tincture with glycerine in it Thankyou
Thank you for your service and kindness to animals. Does this help to calm down labored breathing related to a heart murmur? I am devastated this is happening to her. I ordered your other recommendations from your other video also: dandelion leaf tincture, CoQ10, fish oil, and nettle. She is not taking any Rx meds from the vet. Can the natural route be just as good?
Would like to know that also! It is obvious, he is a Wonderful and busy Vet! Awesome for him to do this for free for those of us that can barely afford the $300 plus Vet bill, more so, the $900+ if I would have done the echo and x-ray, labs, etc. The 300 was just visit and meds. My 10 obvious terrier/Italian greyhound mix is 18 years old and mainly doing palliative/comfort care...but did start the Vetmedin (pimobendan), got a B12 shot, antibiotic injection in case of infection, pain meds and Omeprozole for gastric acid and Entyice for appetite. Doing a little better. HATES med time...but still LOVES his walks. I will be a BASKETCASE and PROBABLY DIE TO WHEN I LOSE HIM!!! Hopefully, I will have a little comfort knowing he will be in Heaven at Rainbow Bridge, with his wife (My Jack Russell that I lost at 14 years old in 2018), waiting for me!

Thank you!

If my dog is on Vetmedin, can I wean off and gradually switch to Hawthorne?
Your dog is sensitive and understands and does not like the conversation....just good and healthy conversations around your pet's..,💕💕
Thank you for this, Dr Jones; you are a gift to the animals and their friends. It made me cry to watch this, though, because it came too late for my most-loved cat, who died from congestive heart failure in 2013.

@@VeterinarySecrets can hawthorn be a inodelitador or just a vasodilator or both? Thanks
Welcome and Thanks for the kind words :-)
I gave my 11kg whippet - and they don't have much body mass, so whippets need a bit less of things, in general, unless they are regularly exercising and have large muscles - 1 x 500 mg of Swanson powder in capsule extract, daily. I've been putting 5 drops of Hemp Seed Oil in his dinner which you said was ok. Like you, I prefer the Holistic approach to health and well being.

All, you can also feed your pet chicken hearts as they contain the minerals and nutrients that a heart needs to be healthy. Hearts have taurine, potassium, magnesium, etc. that is often lacking in many processed pet foods. This works for people too. And since heart is a muscle, it tastes good.

My mother had congestive heart failure several years ago. I put her on some herbs and supplements (sadly I don't remember what they were for the most part) The most important one was Coq10. I can only leave her outside for about a half an hour at a time in the heat and I noticed she is laying down intermittently now while I'm throwing the ball to her which is something new. So I am very worried that this might be getting worse. Thank you so much!!

Ty as always! I wonder if those things would also help humans with heart problems. ????
Can my dog be on vetmedin and hawthorn?
Hawthorn berry are red on manitoulin island. Hawberries they call them
Can I give this to my dog with heart medication ?
I already started the 😥😥😥, when he has a little harder day!!!
Best wishes to all here, God Bless you all and Doctor too!❤💞🙏
I would do both. I am. Seems to be working time will tell. Hoping the natural cures while vet meds manage.
