So excited to have come across your channel. I live near Brandon and am really curious about how it handles Manitoba winters not just the Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto winters. 👍
Thanks for watching Thomas H. I'm glad that you found my channel. I felt like a lot of us Manitobans badly needed content like this as we have very little data of how these cars perform in our winters. So, I took a leap of faith and bought the car for myself to experience it first hand. Feel free to reach out to me on instagram or twitter @teslapeg if you have any specific questions about my personal experience so far.
@@teslapeg very interesting. I read quite a bit about the model 3 as a ski car and loss of range.. but I guess that has more to do with elevation gain while getting there?
@@Craig0935 But when I visited moraine lake I remember I used a lot of range on the drive uphill but when I was coming downhill, instead of using some charge from the battery, regen braking charged my battery. So I had more charge when I was at the bottom of the hill vs when I was on top when I started the journey.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!

I literally bought a Tesla recently because I was on the fence and then saw your videos! I saw you the other day on panet road at an apartment where my sister lives
As a non-tesla owner right now, the winters in canada were one of the biggest worries for me. I live north of Calgary, and considering its about 9 months of winter here the cold weather is always a concern. But seeing people who drive in -30c regularly as I do in an ICE, makes me more comfortable. I just test drove a Long Range Model 3 today, and I gotta say I'm in love!
OK wait a sec… I just did some research on maintenance and found that the recommended maintenance on a Tesla is more than a Gasoline car (ICE for short). The reason for this is 2-fold: 1) Tesla now has recommended maintenance 2) Due to the weight of the vehicle and regenerative braking the tires get worn out much quicker than ICE. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I’ve found, tires can go as fast as 6-months or 5,000 miles (8050km), not 6 years. I don’t own an EV or Hybrid but this is just the research I’ve done. I did a comparison over 6 years and came up with this - ICE costs $55/month on average for Maintenance, EV (Tesla) costs $80 USD/month. The savings on the brakes, gas and fluids etc., will even out over time. You have to factor in other things too, Tesla semi-annual maintenance is about $500 USD. Tires may only last 2 years due to the weight of the battery and the fact that the power used to brake is sent to the wheels causing more wear than brake pads. It sounds great but the end result is, you may be better off using brakes instead of regenerative braking. Also, there is no such thing as coasting in an EV, the motor is always braking when you let off the accelerator, this puts pressure on the tires that you don’t get with an engine. The engine relies on the braking system, when you take your foot off the accelerator it’s like immediately braking, it’s just not using a traditional braking system but it is causing the tires to slow down and as a result you get tire wear as if you were braking. So the tires are either speeding up or slowing down, they never get a break like it an ICE and they have more weight on them. In ICE there is more weight at the front, in EV it is spread across the battery which is basically between the wheels, so all the pressure is on them, that’s why even with nitrogen you still have to monitor the air pressure. Overall I’ve found EV to be cheaper in the long term, but the upfront costs, especially if you have issues or if you install a 240V charger in your garage etc., it can take awhile to feel like you are benefitting from the move to Electric. If you want something better for the environment it’s a great idea, especially if you like Technology, but as far as being cheaper, no, not yet. Battery technology will get more affordable however, and maintenance costs should go down but there are other costs that will counter the savings of not going to a gas pump.
I was speculating in this video but if you watch my recent video you can see that the cost of maintenance is less than I was expecting. ua-cam.com/video/lCvQwuY-7Ic/v-deo.html
Good video man, just came across you randomly. I live in Wpg too. I’ve wanted a Tesla for years but I live in an apartment complex with no underground parking and I feel like you need a house where you can install Tesla’s charging station to really own a Tesla. 🤷🏻♂️
Not exactly, I live in an apartment complex too and I actually have a video about it on my channel as well. It is definitely a plus to live in a house but there's also a plus living in an apartment. I don't pay for charging my car at all and I've driven over 15,000 km for FREE. There are bunch of free chargers around the city for EV owner's disposal. If you wanna know more or chat, dm me on ig at Teslapeg I'm more active there.
Good share video! The other reason is the maintenance and repair cost is rediculese in Canada ! They are killing the industries and killing people's wallet! I do love gas car but is too difficult to fine a garage honest and with friendly price .
What about brake fluids? I hear you have to replace them every two years which costs about $200+? As well, is it colder in the car because of the massive sunroof?
Glass has a lower coefficient of thermal transmission than a metal roof. There is often some insulation in a metal roof car (depending on the quality of the car), but the glass roof is no worse.
Great video (except when the music is too loud, especially when you are talking)! How about road handling in the winter and how long does it take to heat up inside of the car in cold winter days?
Thank you so much for watching! This was one of my very first video so not so great production quality. Road handling is great in the winter even with all season tires, and it takes about 5 minutes to heat up in the winter as heat is instant for electric cars
Thanks for the video it was really informative, I've been watching the development of the EV market in Canada for a while. I have two questions, first how much is a new model 3 or model s in Winnipeg now? Second where are you taking your Tesla when you need warranty work or repair done, do we have a shop local to Winnipeg? Thanks
Thanks for watching! First, A base model Tesla Model 3 right now is $52,900 but with $5000 govt incentive for EV in Manitoba it comes to about $47,900. I don't recommend a Tesla Model S but if you have a little bit room in your budget I'd say go for the Dual-motor long range AWD Tesla Model 3. But if you want something that will cost you less than a Honda Civic long term, get the base model Tesla. I drove 15k kms for close to $0. Secondly, You got mobile service here in Winnipeg. So basically, a Tesla repair van shows up infront of your car to fix it if it has any issues. So you don't even have to go thru the hassle of going anywhere. Also almost everything, especially your battery is covered for 160,000kms. So it's the inital cost of the Tesla that you worry about and that's it. I can't cover everything here but if you want more help, you can text me at 431-336-3224
I live in Montreal with harsh winters with ice, freezing rain and lots of snow and horrible pot holes. What’s your experience with above, which winter tires are you using and how’s the suspension on pot holes and bumps. More importantly I can’t find anywhere in tour notes, is your model 3 the rear wheel drive, dual motor AWD or performance?
Hey Richard! Thanks for the questions, my model 3 is a RWD with all season tires. I have family in Montreal so I have a general idea of the roads and heavy snowfall there. Tesla has premium suspension and excellent traction control that got me thru winter. Although, I would recommend the dual-motor long range if you want the best traction.
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I also live in Winnipeg and have been wanting a Tesla but unsure about the batteries in our writers. Great Videos and very informative.
I love this video, especially as I'm from Brandon! Definitely living in northern BC now, but I like that you've found a positive experience owning this in winter. I'm in a debate about it personally!

How does the car handle tire slipping in auto pilot mode? In some situations, is not recommended to have cruise control because of rain or ice so, does auto pilot have better intelligence when one tire slips but the other doesn't?
Yes I actually trust Autopilot more as I think a computer would think faster than me in situations like that. But I try and avoid ice myself if I ever spot it. Don't want to take any chances my Tesla haha
@@teslapeg does that mean the auto pilot is able to avoid ice or do you mean you don't drive the car when it's slippery or that you take over the auto pilot when you see ice on the road? In Winnipeg, it's almost impossible to avoid driving when it's icy unless you park the Tesla when it gets cold and just take the bus during winter.
Great reasons, but none of them are specific to driving in Canada. What are your thoughts regarding leaving the Tesla parked outside in -30 temperatures? Or traction in the SR+ (RWD) model? Thank you!
Good point! I get this question a lot. It's almost mandatory to keep your car plugged in at -30. I have the RWD and I already went thru one winter with all season tires. Traction control is not from this world tbh compared to my friends RWD mustang. Unless you're flooring it on a turning(which you shoudn't do in any car in winter) you'll be good
If I don’t have a house and live in apartment, I can not charge in the apartment parking lot. Does it mean that in a cold winter morning, the Tesla battery will be totally dead? If that is the case, Tesla is only for people who has a house and garage and can keep charging over night, right?
I thought your video was going to be very interesting but I couldn't hear a thing you were saying due to the loud music. Any chance you repost the video without the music?
Monthly car payments can be as low as $600 a month with insurance payments anywhere from 200-800 a month depending on your driver level and state or province. Values in CAD
Very cool!!!! Love the video and love that you are in Winnipeg. I defiantly want to get this vehicle next- did you order this online? How did it get delivered?
Hey Ryan! Thanks for watching my video 😁 I bought the car from a dealership but that was the biggest mistake I made. Not only did I not get my federal incentive for the car I was also promised services by the dealership that they later wanted to charge me for.
But I had a friend who ordered directly through Tesla, online. He had the best experience. He was updated constantly on the status of the vehicle while on delivery and also got his incentive. Also, he got 1500km free supercharging and also the vehicle came in 3 weeks. I would highly recommend ordering directly from Tesla and ordering the Tesla Model Y if you love in Canada. If you have more questions, knock me on Instagram 😁 Hope this helps
Great video! I would love to get a Tesla for the exact reasons you mention but there's still a bunch to consider. You mentioned in another comment that warranty covers up to 160km (80km for battery) What happens after a person reaches warranty limits? Is there a maintenance subscription to cover having a mechanic from Tesla fly to Winnipeg to do a repair? Are owners allowed to perform minor maintenance (headlights, brake lights, suspension, tie rods, ball joints, etc) themselves or does that void the warranty? For some people, 160km is fine as they would replace their car at that point but I keep a car for much longer.
Firstly I apologize for the misinformation. Which video was it again? Your battery is covered for 160,000 kms. And you don't have to worry about minor fixes or even some major ones. Tesla has mobile service that will send a Tesla certified technician right to your doorstep with a Tesla van
@@teslapeg no apologies necessary. I see that I mistyped my previous comment. It was supposed to say 160k km (ie. 160,000km) and 80k km. I guess it's good to know that Tesla will cover the cost of sending someone to replace a dead light bulb. However, do you know what happens after the warranty is depleted? I'm guessing you can't just take the car to any mechanic
@@seanrivera4487 Hi. I think mobile service can still do most repairs. You would just have to pay for them outside the warranty period. Hopefully they get a full service centre at some point in Winnipeg.
I live in Winnipeg and there’s very few Teslas here. The superchargers are always free. Plus I barely use the superchargers as they cost money, I go to the free level 2 chargers around the city and plug them in
AWD is always the best option for us Canadians but I have a RWD as I wanted to take advantage of the federal tax incentive of $5000. I also managed to go thru one winter without winter tires so that another thing. Traction control is godly on a Tesla. Dm me on ig as "teslapeg" if you want to know more as I'm more active there
Based on your location or what insurance provider you want to go under. Mine increased 10% but usually it decreases if your insurance provider have data on accidents with EVs.
Well auto insurance differers from province to province. I can give you an estimate if you live somewhere in Canada but to get the exact quote, you’d have to call you insurance provider

I thought your video was going to be very interesting but I couldn't hear a thing you were saying due to the loud music. Any chance you repost the video without the music?
100% I will remake this video again for 2021 for everyone to enjoy.
What is the price tesla model 3 2020 in Canada And monthly maintenance cost ???
Monthly car payments can be as low as $600 a month with insurance payments anywhere from 200-800 a month depending on your driver level and state or province. Values in CAD
Awesome bro❤❤
Thank you so much for watching brother!
How many Chargers are there in Canada ?
I've seen on their website. There is not much Tesla chargers in canada compared to USA
It’s new but since december 2019 there’s a Tesla supercharger every 100kms now
Where did you get your Tesla in Winnipeg? I live just outside of Winnipeg myself and want a model 3 long range for commuting.
Always get it through Tesla. Never go through a third-party dealership as I’ve seen people getting tricked out of the $5000 govt rebate
Do you have the model with battery heating or the heat pump?
All Tesla has battery heating but mine doesn’t have the heat pump
hello man, i'm from winnipeg too. how much is the total cost you pay monthly for this car? do you still switch all season tires to winter tires?
Yes I do actually have a video. ua-cam.com/video/lCvQwuY-7Ic/v-deo.html
I’ve used the stock tires for 2 winters now but will get winter for this winter tho
Very informative 😍
Glad you think so!
wow, incredible... great job... keep up
Thank you so much!
How often have you had to wait for a charger to be free? When more ppl get e vehicles, the charge stations will be busier. Is this an issue currently?
Well it’s never an issue if unless you live in California. Most chargers have all 8 stalls free when I visit them.
I live in Winnipeg and there’s very few Teslas here. The superchargers are always free. Plus I barely use the superchargers as they cost money, I go to the free level 2 chargers around the city and plug them in
Compare the interior design of a luxury car at the same price cars you will know what is different!
i proud of you because you are Bangladeshi....keep it up bro..
I hope my video inspires you to be a better YOU!
Amazing!!❤️
Thank you so much for watching!
Question do you have all wheel drive? I’m looking to buy this car but I want to see if it’s better to go with the regular or all wheel drive
AWD is always the best option for us Canadians but I have a RWD as I wanted to take advantage of the federal tax incentive of $5000. I also managed to go thru one winter without winter tires so that another thing. Traction control is godly on a Tesla. Dm me on ig as "teslapeg" if you want to know more as I'm more active there
TESLAPEG okay thank you for the help!
Bro its off topic but can u tell about crime rates in manitoba as ive listened manitoba has highest crime rate in canada
It’s not really that bad. Highest crime rate in Canada is still the lowest crime rate any other place lol
@@teslapeg thank you bro😍 you've cleared my misconception
Love it!

WB the insurance?
Based on your location or what insurance provider you want to go under. Mine increased 10% but usually it decreases if your insurance provider have data on accidents with EVs.
Being from St.Catharines, it really threw me off when someone from Winnipeg knew St.Catharines exists!
St. Catharines is an awesome place haha. My friend goes to Brock Uni there. Love the scenic city
😂 ... some of my favourite Canadian wines come from the St. Catherines-Niagara region. Most people should know about S.C.
I live in Calgary. Would u recommend std or long range? I use about 80 km perday
SR+ hands down. It’ll be more than enough for you even in -40C as long as you live in a house where you can plug it in. Get that $5000 rebate too.
But, if you thinking long-term investment. You should definitely go for the long range
Can you tell me your Auto insurance in Canada? Dramas and source and review? Thanks Mate!
Well auto insurance differers from province to province. I can give you an estimate if you live somewhere in Canada but to get the exact quote, you’d have to call you insurance provider
Maybe I should've been clearer, I've been shopping Tesla reviews, but no one has posted their experience when get their Tesla Insurance experience what to expect. I've only seen American experiences.

What was the exact range in winter, when charged at 80% or 90% (which I assume is what you charge it at, unless you are going on a trip)?
Around 200-250kms
In the summer you get the 400km. I got like around 500km one time in banff because regenerative braking charged my battery while going downhill lol
@@teslapeg what temperature range is this at
Brother how much estimated Insurance Cost ? Please don't Say depending upon city and All. Please Tell the approximate Cost of insurance for Toronto.
$600-800 ish for toronto just like most cars with new drivers

how much in winnipeg?
Glad you can afford a $40,000 car ...You didn't mention that if you live in an apartment and park your car on the street you are so out of luck...Not everyone works where there is a charger... Now in another video on the Mod 3...it was claimed that the milage dropped by 50% during the Winters cold
You’re right. In that case, best use the superchargers. It’ll still be two-three times cheaper than gas
@@teslapeg What does a "Supercharger cost and have installed...plus you might suggest that people check their electrical to make sure the house wiring can handle the higher load...or they can pay to upgrade the entire system...so they can have the latest and greatest that will save them a few bucks on gas
@@matthewjacobs141 yes you can install a 220V outlet at home which will be cheaper. Initial cost of electrician and product will cost $300-500. This will increase your monthly electricity bill by $10-20. Or you can you use the Tesla Supercharging (gas stations for Tesla) to charge your Tesla.
@@teslapeg $300 t0 $500 you say, where did you find an electrician that works so cheaply " Brennen W. Los Angeles, CA
