Another great video now I’m waiting to see your next video on what your lead arm does and the finish. I have been working on that inside swing and shallowing the club. Thanks Eric. Stay safe brother!
Thanks, John!
Here is a video on left arm/hand into follow through

My first recommended video from a new member of Cogorno Golf Academy! Role of the right arm. Honestly never gave this any thought. Good insight from Steve H!
Glad to hear that, Richard! This one is a good one! Few other good ones on the right we can recommend as well!
Mega props to you mate, your instructions have improved my game so quickly 🙌🏽 thank you
Thank you! Glad to hear that :)
Awesome video Eric!!! Thank you for doing such a great job and being so open minded and bringing us many different perspectives with a variety of experts.
👊Appreciate that Jacob! Thank you!
thanks for the reply
Perfect timing, what I'm working on 💪
Hope it helps, Aidan!
These videos are great. Nice job, guys.
Thanks, Frank!
Brilliant fellas, this has helped me no end , I found if I did the drills in slow motion almost , they ingrained better, thanks 👍
Love it, Alan!
Great video - answers the old mystery about that elbow coming in during the down swing

Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
Eric I’d like to start seeing videos like what you’d want to avoid while doing these. I could feel myself holding the release off if I focused on this
Hi there!
Appreciate you watching my friend!
Here's a good one for more details on the arms and hands that I think you'll enjoy checking out👊

one key thing that I think would help a number of people, that's not mentioned above. They're focused on the arm feels, but I've found the feel for getting external rotation to be more focused on the shoulder blade. When I tried to move my arm into my body by focusing on the arm for weeks, I couldn't help but internally rotate to some degree. It's just a byproduct of pulling for me (this move without shoulder blade engagement was pitching my shoulder forward). When I then shifted my focus to pulling my right shoulder blade down and back, it all clicked and allowed me to hit the slot really effectively.
Love it-glad you found a solution that works for you!
Solid video
Thanks!
Great Video
Thanks, Jeffrey! Steve is great!
@@CogornoGolf
You both are great.
I'm working on this same thing as well; trying to always imagine skipping rocks. Question, when the distance between the elbow and side decrease on the downswing, are you also trying to maintain the angle created by the forearm and upper arm, and maintain that angle through impact?
Hey David!
The arm gets closed from several movements.
External rotation and adduction being the main ones.
The bend of the arm around 90* at the top and transition is a good marker to shoot for
ua-cam.com/video/fNry_pPPZPs/v-deo.html
Another good one Eric!
Question now that it's April...do you now have the service of swing video reviews without using Facebook?
Thanks, Peter! Yes we do--we partnered with CoachNow to offer another platform so you don't have to use Facebook if you don't want! Send us a message to service@cogornogolf.com and we can help if you're interested!
Was watching something that helps me. They said lower the right elbow while crunching the right oblique
That's a good feel!
This is so important to keep the elbows together. Really helps keep the left wrist bowed at the top and promote lag. Has helped my swing tremdously
Love it
Hey guys beautiful explanation just one quick question from around p6 should we FEEL our right forearm arm and hand pushing through impact
Iam worried by pushing my right hand and shoulder at around p6 that i will be doing the dreaded hitting at the golf ball which everyone warns not to hit the ball Hogan says he wishes he had 2 right hands iam so confused what needs to be done from around p6 tks
Thank you, George!
I'd highly recommend checking out the following two videos which cover this topic you are asking about in more detail...

One last question Do you think Ben also used ground forces pressure shifts in his beautiful swing like everyone is preaching today or was it more of just a arm swing stile crazy question
Yes he does
Thats all great advice. What about when do you straighten the right arm?? Is that where the power comes from?
Hey!
I explain the WHEN here: ua-cam.com/video/Nwz6Yrr9SrI/v-deo.html
ITs PART of where the power comes from
@@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric. I have really worked hard at this method in the last few weeks and have struck the ball SO MUCH BETTER, my handicap went from 8 to 4 1/2. I expect it to go lower. I have so much confidence now, its awesome. Shot 75 at Falcon Ridge in Mesquite Nevada last Tuesday, 76 in Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction Colorado and 74 back at Skylinks in Long Beach. Thank you so much.
Man I have been working in Moorestown, NJ near Cherry Hill. I should go see Steve for lessons. I have been noticing lots of movement in my backswing and not getting any hinge on my back swing. I am a lil under a 9 handicap but I have lost lots of distance in my irons. Think I need to get my distance back to go lower and break 80 more often.
Hey Joe! You should 100% go see Steve! He's GREAT at in person and on line lessons!
I have two more lessons left at golf tech. Trying to add hinge or lag is very frustrating. I prob need to stop playing for a while and just do the drills. But will def look into at least 1 or 2 lessons with Steve.
The magic move of bringing the right elbow in front of the right hip is not so much of an active movement of dropping the elbow. It is the result of right side bend, externally rotate the right shoulder, internally rotating the left shoulder and consciously keeping the elbows together on the way down. Thoughts? Thank You
Hey Robert!
Yes-all of those movements will be present.
But there is some adduction as well.
Yes adduction of left arm with active contraction of left pec continued well into the follow thru
But at impact am I using both arms equally to supply speed? Mostly left? Mostly right?
Hey Bruce! Both.
I have been focusing on the right hand for about a couple weeks now. For me, i started with a strong grip. Then noticed the elbow close to my body on good hits and remembered the towel in the armpit trainer.... and got my first 83....I've been wondering why i don't hear much about this.
Love it, Adrian!
This Steve guy says at around 3m 30s into the video that the trail arm should go from 90 degrees at the top to 45 degrees during the downswing, becoming much more bent, which contradicts just about everything thats been seen in motion capture through Gears etc of elite ball strikers. Elite players do the opposite, and the trail arm extends shortly after transition. You can still bring the trail elbow closer to the side whilst the trail arm straightens, it just means the arms have to move off the chest, which is also what elite players do.
Eric, your other videos on the right arm are much more accurate in terms of what's happening with elite players. I could maybe understand telling someone who has a very straight arm to add some flex, but that wasn't mentioned here, and even then it would likely be in the backswing, not downswing.
I agree! 45* is exaggerated. I should have caught that and clarified....my bad
How are we suppose to reconcile "flexing" the right arm in the downswing versus "keeping width" ?
Hey Ken!
The trail arm bending (flexing) is happening more so from left arm parallel to the start of transition....like 120* to 90*....it doesn't get much bent past that unless you're someone like DJ super externally rotated.
So 90* is a good checkpoint to shoot for....have to have shoulders closed enough until left arm parallel to do this
ua-cam.com/video/bScRl_O6UUo/v-deo.html
Also keep in mind these concepts and feels are for someone who gets TOO long (too wide) so what player already has too much of that.
Need to see what side you fall on and work to find 90*
Great video guys - confident it’s another missing link in my swing sorted. Only a couple hundred more to go
Lol....slow and steady. We are getting there!
Would you need more closed face with a driver at P6? My clubhead is like a centimeter closed at P6 and inside and nice with iron but struggle with driver with the ball drifting right, should I have the face more closed at P6? My clubhead speed with driver is like 100mph. so not the fastest.
Hey Mange!
As mentioned as the speed goes up you can be more tilted down (closed) if the speed is lower you have to watch.
If the ball is drifting right we would assume you would want to close the club face more.....yes.....but also want to make sure the club is fit well for you....how the shaft kicks/bends has a big roll in this
@@CogornoGolf I would say I have an ok fit. I just wondered if it was different with driver vs iron?
It can be different with driver vs iron yes. I would need to see your swing to say specifically for you what you should do.
Is this for all clubs, driver etc?
Generally speaking
Another great video, but I don’t think the ‘flexing’ of the right arm in the downswing is required. In all honestly, I think this could be a death move for many golfers.
IMO simply maintaining a 90* or less bend with the right elbow at the top and through the downswing will maintain width and shallow the AoA.
Thanks, Adam!!
What about with the Driver or Hybrids
Irons vs driver main differences here:

Eric, are you still with PGZ or are you on your own now?
Hey Caleb!
We still do training programs with PGZ to try and help as many golfers as we can.
We also have our own site at www.cogornogolf.com for those who want more personal coaching from myself and our team
Hi Eric. Everyone who does a “right arm” tutorial always stops at P6 on the downswing. My BIG question is.. what happens then? Does the left pull the right arm through into the full release OR, does the right arm contribute to the speed generation by actually, purposefully firing down and out towards for example, 1.00 o’clock if 12.00 is the target line. I hope that makes sense and I hope you can give me the answer or point me towards one of your previous videos that explains it. Thanks. Good stuff as always.
Hey Ian!
will make a video more specifically on this topic

Seems odd you would reducing your radius by flexing your right arm on the downswing. I would have thought more power and speed would be gained by creating width whilst lowering the right arm. This is certainly what GEARS 3D analysis shows of the pros
Did you watch the Bryson Analysis?
Hey!
GEARS average pro right around 90* at top and 90* at left arm parallel coming down
Most of the folding happens from shaft first parallel (P2) to left arm parallel downswing (p5)
This example was more to highlight a feel for those who LENGTHEN too much in that phase
This was my observation as well. Visually, at least from a DTL angle, it’s pretty clear that the trail elbow moving closer in transition is part of what helps pros shallow the club in transition, but I’ve seen similar GEARS footage where good players expand that elbow angle from the top. It seems like the only way you’d be able to retain or increase that width while also getting the right elbow closer would require a lot of trail shoulder external rotation (which would also make the trail wrist bend backwards pretty significantly)
You made this just for me didn’t you? ;)
:)
I'm sorry but I don't think the right arm is suppose to flex in the downswing i am not a great golfer but i heard a pro say that so i don't know and honestly when you swing i don't see your right arm flexing in the downswing. please explain I'm confused..
Only for the very start....its essentially straightening from there on through
Really love your content - it has helped me soo much - but please, you don't need to "Secret" in your title - you're better than that
Hey Rory! Thanks for the feedback!
321 means what???
Hey Dennis!
Steve is referring to the amount of inches that the trail arm/elbow is away from the ribcage when he is saying 3, 2, and 1.
Please let us know if you have any questions! :)
Can I ask why all other pro coaches are teaching the opposite??
If this is what happens?
Hey Adrian! Which part?
Hi thanks for the quick reply
I love your tips .
.
The part about flexing the arm more on the down swing
Gotcha! Its definitely something that gets overdone in many ams (they bend too much)....I think looking at it more like getting the right arm 90* at the top and keeping that coming down would be a good visual for most
Of course many players bend much more that that but as a general reference
Ok thanks
but the video tip is saying to increase the flex in the right arm on the down swing,
Is that what should happen or not ??
Yes-slightly.
Too much preamble and self advertisement. Quite irritating
