This is the best tutorial I’ve found so far. The pacing and repetition of the tutorial along with seeing clarifications for a learner interspersed with examples of proper form really make it feel clear and concise. Thank you!
Good tutorial. I can do the glide and toes to the bar. But I can't get the hang of the hip thrust. This is the 1st video that I have seen that says hip thrust. Are there any more tips on how to thrust the hips after the toes to the bar??
Yea Ryan, most tutorials TOTALLY neglect the hip thrust (the actual kip) part which is the hardest part! The TIMING is the hardest part, you have to act super fast to just instruct yourself to thrust the hips up to the bar (like as if you want to hurt yourself, as if the hip bones are going to break/bruise from hitting the bar so hard in that instance, but it wont actually do that). Watch my Instagram video and you will see the perfect slow mo of when to thrust the hips: instagram.com/p/B3u0DbVBuaF/
@@AntranikDotOrg thanks for that. I'm sure I will get it very soon, just started doing freestyle Calisthenics so it would be a very handy move to have. 👍
Try not to think hip thrust. That'll work against you as most people tend to lean back as they thrust their hips. After your glide, and after you get your toes to the bar, pull the bar to your hips while simultaneously sitting up/over the bar.
He was struggling most with the swing part which should had been taught first easily by bending your knees and throwing in front like you are kicking on someone chest with both feet. By the way hip thrust cue to bar is v good. The tutorial was v helpful.
Very good tutorial. I got the slow muscle up from your tutorial. This move is not easy. May I ask where is this place ? It’s perfect for practicing this. Thanks.
This is the Original Muscle Beach in Santa Monica (not to be confused with the one in Venice beach which is nearby but subpar). www.google.com/maps/place/Original+Muscle+Beach+Santa+Monica/@34.0090094,-118.496958,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x80c2a4d6df2b24c9:0x99c23d5bdde9a965!8m2!3d34.0090094!4d-118.494764
He's having trouble adding the leg lift because your telling him that its one single movement. This makes him skip the first part and tro to do everything at ones! He really should fokus on doing it as two steps. The first is really like the 'button drill' often recomended for getting 'regular' muscle ups, and when in full extension do the leg lift instead of pulling up.
I thought it's pretty clear I'm telling him to do the glide first and then the leg lift. He's skipping the first part because IT'S HIS FIRST TIME and it's really hard to put all these steps together. In actuality it takes most people hundreds of attempts to nail this move. There are even many gymnasts who don't have their glide kip and take months of practice to achieve it!
@Greyson Eduardo thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Not sure what the question is here, can you reword it? Also, watch this in depth video I've made on muscle ups for more info: ua-cam.com/video/866ndz3Dqgk/v-deo.html
I totally agree! My execution has been WHATEVER even for my own standards, but because it took me so long to get this move, and I remember the steps it took to get there, I think I can teach it to others quite well. Lately I've been working on doing it with completely straight arms, so there's a big improvement! Anyway, thanks for your fair, constructive criticism!

Thank you guys. I'm new to calisthenics and working towards a muscle up. I can do it with band support. Going to work on this now !
Hell yea Brett!
A truly detailed and unique description. Especially love it!
Glad you liked it!
@@AntranikDotOrg Thanks
Amazing tutorial!
Thanks man!
The best tutorial, made it for the first time, thanks to you
Wow that's awesome! Congrats!
I tried to learn this yesterday, deceptively hard and a good work out!
Yes, it is really difficult skill-wise, but not strength-wise... it is so satisfying when you start nailing it!
@@AntranikDotOrg yea I’ve been watching some tutorials, going to give it another go this week.
Good technique. Now i am practicing the Kipping muscle up as you exactly teach . Need practice and many repetitions. Cool vido👌
You can do it! Takes a lot of meticulous practice! Be methodical and baby steps! Always start with the basics and build it up every session.
saludos de argentina chavales con esta tecnica y tactica me tiene que salir vamos !
Best tutorial so far of gymnastic BMU.

Very perfect and i really benefit from it
Thank You So Much Excellent Tutorial 🙏
You’re welcome! Did you progress?
Good effort, I like your videos bc they are for the average guy, I begin 2mr at the park
Thanks 👍
Great demo I think I'm ready for the muscle up but feel my skill level is off. The hips to the bar instead of a swinging pull up may be the difference
GOLDEN CONTENTTTTT!
Thanks!!
Thanks!
Good video..it showed really this is ain't easy
I just made my first muscle up 2 weeks ago
Peace and bless
Great job!
In the gymnastics kip do you actually don’t bend in your arms like you were doing in the video
Yes you shouldnt bend. It's hard, but you shouldn't.

As a gymnast, that's not the best glide swing. But the concepts are there! This guy knows what he's talking about, just doesn't execute as well.
