Probably a little late for the give away, but we use an old sump pump with fittings that shoot out in 4 directions and we tie off decoys to the center pipe so the decoys ride in the out flow.

Jerk rig with a weight and bungie cord at the end. I also add other weights along the line and run the line under the weights to make it look like some decoys are feeding and going "butt-up". Either hand pull or attach a battery and custom pulley system depending on how far I need to carry heavy gear. Works in 4 inches to 4 feet of water. You also can't go wrong adding a Mojo or 2 and throwing sticks and stomping puddles for splashing. Always looking forward to the giveaways and hello from Ontario, Canada.

I just recently purchased a Motion Duck Decoy Spreader, it’s basically a jerk string on steroids. I love it. Instead of them moving in a linear line, it looks like a whole flock of ducks swimming. I also throw the mojo butt ripper in the middle of my spread as well.

My favorite system is Motion Ducks. I usually swim groups of 7 or 10 and if I’m hunting with multiple guys I’ll set up 2-3 different sets. I hunt central TX mainly farm kinds and small lakes in the fly zones. Really helps pull them down into gun range. Thanks for the review!!

Motion ducks are awesome! They’re a local company to me. I run 3 together with 4 Texas rigs around them. We’ve run (at the height of migration) 13 rigs all connected to 1 line.

Growing up hunting on the creek, I would always gather up a bunch of chunky sticks. When the ducks would work over, I'd throw one in to splash the water and make a few waves. Of course, when the water got out in the woods, I'd use the old Lacrosse method and kick the water!!!

In Oregon we cannot use any motorized devices. Decoy Dancer is the most amazing pull sting flapper decoy and in combination with The Last Stand, you get a jerk rig effect throwing ripples throughout the spread and allowing you to use it even in rocky bottoms where a pole cannot be used. It has been a huge advantage to have and by far the best motion combination I have ever used.

Simple grey conduit pvc pole about 5 foot long and 550 cord. Loops tied at various lengths along the line to the boat and various sized loops. Gets the decoys spread out and you just attach the Texas rig to the loop and the weight pulls the decoys back when you let the line go. Pretty simple diy jerk rig.

I hunt from a boat blind. I use a combination of a four position jerk rig and Higdon XS Kickers and pulsators. I also use Mojo spinning wing decoys in the early season, mostly attracting teal. But by mid season I have to pull those. By mid season I find that the Mojos definitely attract the ducks from a distance but when they get close they pretty much freak out.

I have found that placing a weight on a fishing line between your decoy and jerk handle allows you to swim the decoys with or against the current (as much line as you have), and lets you "pop" them in and out of the water when the line is taught and the duck is directly above the weight.

  • @joegarcia9789
    @joegarcia9789 3 роки тому

Hay Joel, I use the long lining method or a version of it.
It's 50lb fishing line or braid that's anchored to the bank. You can make it as long or as short as you want. The key is, it must be in open water and you have to have a steady wind if the wind is circling the decoys will get tangled up in them selves.
To rig run 100' of line at one end string on the decoy swivels ( I wouldn't do more than 8) then start with the last swivel tie a drop loop don't make the loop to long or the decoy will tangle. 2 to 3 inches is good
Then measure 3 to 4 feet this first decoy must be far enough away because it will slow the other decoys down. Too long and it can whip around and get tangled.
Now finish the rest of the swivels in groups down the line. Space them far enough so they don't hit each other. I do 18 inches to 2ft depending on the size of decoys, groups of 4 then 3 with 3 to 4 foot spacing between each group.
Now I take a 2 oz. Bell sinker and a foot of line tie those together and the other end I tie on a swivel this guy will then be connected to the last decoy at the end. The weight slows this guy down.
P.s. the swivels I refer to are what we use on the decoy rigs. ( snap swivels)
Also when connecting the decoys use the hole closest to the body of the decoys this will give it better action with less or light winds.
Thanks like watching! It was actually you that gave me the idea when you said don't do what everybody else is doing.

Up here in minnesota we can't use battery powered decoys for the first couple weeks of season which is one reason why I like the jerk rig. Its also nice because it is very easy to carry in and you don't have to worry about forgetting to charge the battery

I'm a "deep water" ~2 - 3.5 feet water public land hunter. So, lots of walking in and hauling gear in.
My go to has been a jerk rig with 2 mallards; typically right in the middle of my decoys so any ripples that are made can make my spread look more lifelike.

I’m a ripple fanatic! I run three Duck Creek Decoy Flashbacks, two Battleship Swimmers, and two butt ripples. I used manual jerk rigs for decades, but simply got sick of the manual part. Also, with automatic ripples, birds you can’t even see yet can see your ripples (versus seeing birds when it’s too late and you’ve put down your jerk string).

I’m using a jerk rig I made. But unlike most rigs I ran my line through an eye on my anchor then up to two decoys spaced out with a light weight pipe. This way when I use the rig the decoys dive like they are feeding. I found this to give more water movement with the decoys bobbing up and down.

Jerk string is the main way. Sometimes you gotta think out of the box tho lol. I have been in situations where I've forgotten the jerk string at home or in the truck and had to use rocks. Throwing rocks in your spread can be effective you just gotta be careful not to hit your decoys. I have also used a tree limb that was there already. Give it a tug or 2 and it would give some movement. Looking forward to the review on this product.

This season was nice and windy here in Ontario. So I didn’t have too much to do. In fact, even the spinner wasn’t that used. Past season I had 5 decoys in a row on one line. I’d tie the end of that line to a 4’ long pvc conduit pipe, stick it to the ground and tie a jerk rig to it. Works but it’s a bit of work to set it up and carry early in the morning.

What about after 90 days... first comment I read a guy purchased 2 of these and before the season ended 1 of them the motor crapped out. He stated you replaced it. Which is good. But he also stated by the end of the season both of them including the one you replaced previously for him already stopped working.... for that price your selling this and the fact it only moves 2 decoys. The motor should have a lifetime warranty or you shouldn't be selling this product. Waterfowl hunting is the hardest on all hunting gear. By far over anything else people hunt for. If you can't back your product with a lifetime guarantee and no questions asked replacement on a motor for something like this. It simply shouldn't even be sold. Even if it was $100 bucks if it only lasted 1 season or even 2 i still wouldn't buy it or recommend it to anyone. Not trying to be hostile or mean. But all waterfowlers know if your gear can't hold up to years of being used it isnt worth buying. Especially at the price your selling this product for.

I hunt a lot of channels between lakes near my house and for motion I just like putting decoys near the edge of the current change between shallow and deeper waters, it seems to give them a lot of side to side and swimming motion. I will often also set a mojo near the edge to mimic a bird landing in my decoys as they move, it works real well in my area of MI.

I HUNT THE RIO GRANDE RIVER AND I USE A HIGDON SPINNER THAT SITS ON THE WATER, DUCKS TEND TO USE THE RIVER TO LOAF , IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK STECHING HIS WINGS. WORKS WELL WHEN DUCKS ARE IN THE AREA, BEEN SLOW HERE THE LAST FEW WEEKS

I'm a fairly novice duck hunter so the only motion that I've been able to try so far has been a jerk rig as well as some of the decoy attachments that are a little propeller and those worked really well on calm days except that the seal sometimes would leak and corrode the battery and I haven't been able to find them in stores anymore.

Jerk rig or motion ducks depends on the spot. A few mojo butt up ripples. As well as a king mallard mojo that I put just low enough that the wings catch the water and splash it around.

In Washington we can't use electronic decoys. So my go to is a whip splash decoy. Works wonders to get motion and grab attention.

I'm wa local too. Isnt bull$hite that they sell electronic decoys everywhere but we cant use them...

@@whitebuffalo3425 yeah it's super bull! Supposedly they are doing surveys this year to see if they will lift that law. I doubt they will, hunting and fishing in WA sucks.

@@keithjones7754 yeah, they did do a survey but the time for public input has expired. I voted against it. If they give us electronic decoys they are going to drop our limits to 5 birds instead of 7 and lose 20 days off the season. I dont need electronics to hunt and didnt want to lose days or birds so I voted no.
Good news is they are talking about a 3 drake pintail limit for next year...

    • @keithjones7754

@@whitebuffalo3425 that is a trade off. Where I'm at, it can be hard to hit a limit, so I don't really mind the drop. But I also don't mind a pull string decoy. So either way I'm fine.

    • @whitebuffalo3425

@@keithjones7754 I think thats the logic behind it. If they make it easier to kill birds they lessen the limit. I more worried about losing days. I appreciate my time out and we have one of the longest seasons in the country...

When I was a kid, I rigged up a 12v battery and bilge pump to a decoy. This was way before the ones on the market today. Splashers, spinners, flashers, magnets.. I've used them all. I keep going back to a jerk cord

I use a quiver magnet, attached to a decoy so the decoys moves and helps keep the ice away during the late season.
