I built one of these 11 years ago. Other then losing a few achors, it's still going strong. Only issue I've had is dogs getting tangled in the line, and unwinding the line makes setup a bit more complicated. Your hide has to be able to support the cord going over or through whatever brush you have without getting tangled or causing a lot of motion. Some of my best hunts have kayaked in with just this spreader/jerk rig. It has really taught me you can totally get away with only using half-dozen or less decoys. Which allows you to be more mobile and move to wherever the birds want to be. Birds keep landing on the far side? Grab your 4 decoys and paddle over there.
I really like these DIY homemade tips video. I try my best to keep my hunting passion within a limited budget : 1/ it's an eternal negociation with my treasurer/wife... 2/ hunting's meant to provide for the family not to cost.
Dude you’re my hero! I have a traditional jerk rig. I’m just going to use the cord and anchor from it to build the system! All I need is the pvc. Thanks brother 🙏
Definitely earned a subscriber. I love seeing hunters taking initiative and coming up with tactics instead of listening to big name hunters just telling you to buy all of this stuff. Great video and great idea!
Love the ingenuity. Anything I've seen at this price on the market is flimsy, this will definitely hold up. Might try this out, local lake is mud. Might try adding a bungee anchor for even more motion, pretty shallow here.
As well as the bungee idea I plan to drill a few holes in the PVC to lelt the water into the tubes;intead of just the holes in the end cap.@@Take-emTv99
Dude, Thank you!! I'm literally on a panhandling duck hunter budget this season, with a newly trained up JH Gun-Dog! Huge $$$ saver with this video.
You’re welcome man! I hope this helps you get on some birds this year!
Gonna make 3 of these for me and my Fiance! Thank you for the tutorial!!
I hope he likes them!

It’s awesome what a little bit of movement can do for you! I love these little spreader rigs

Thank you I really appreciate it. The duck hunting market is so expensive now days! I always try and save some money whenever I can!
I would paint some black or dark green to break up the straight lines on the x not much in nature is perfectly straight. Looks great working

Of course! I hope it works for you!

Thank you so much!
Great video for someone just starting out like myself! I appreciate it man!!! Thank you!
Thank you!
Great job. Im going to build one myself. I'll be adding a bunge cord to the anchor for some added movement.
That’s a great idea!!!
I added a 3 foot bungee to mine and took it out Friday. The bungee really adds action to the spread. Pull it tight and let it go.
How'd you attach it

Thank you! And I think the bungee cord would make a great addition!
Love it dude. This will work great by me in deeper water too (3-4ft), im going to make one and paint it dark gray. Its not so marshy here.
Thank you!
Going to try this
Ducks can see the piping,
Plus pulling the strings ducks can see that as well.
I guess I’ve never had a problem with it. But I also hunt very murky/ brown water.
This looks good man! Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a try.
let me know how it works for you!
Your obviously passionate about duck hunting... Your on to something with this jerk rig... Great video...
Thank you!
That’s awesome 😎 brother!
Thank you! There has definitely been some great feedback and suggestions in the comments from some other people.
I imagine this is how motion ducks spreader/jerk rig got it’s start.
I assume so too
Can also run them through an anchor and jerk rig feeding action
Very true!
for the loop at the bottom for the jerk part i am guessing you drill two holes and just looped it thur and tied a loop ?
I was wondering the same
Yeah that’s what I did, I’m sorry I didn’t explain that in the video.
Gonna build this for the coming weekend. Good job. Also located in the midwest. What state you out of?
That’s awesome man! I’m from Iowa!
@@Take-emTv99 oh very nice. Close. Im outta Wisco.
Instead of para line to the weights, use a bungee cord between to the line and the weight. It will give more back and forth.
That Would definitely help! I just didn’t think bout it when building it!
What kind of bungee did you use?
You didn't show how you hooked up the jerk line to the spreader
I just used a clip on the bottom on the spreader.
Just curious, why didn’t you add a decoy to the middle?
Just never thought about it but it would great!
Why not a bungee cord
A bungee cord would definitely help! Just didn’t think of it at the time!

I have a whole blind build out of 1/2 pipe
I bet it works great! And lightweight
