Because of you my friend I now sleep in a hammock full time. My old degenerated bulging herniated back doesn’t feel bad when I wake up now. Thank you! Carpe diem.

Those exoskeleton husks you keep seeing are from Dragonfly Nymphs transforming into the adult stage of their lifecycle. As nymphs, they live underwater.

We used to call them Helgramittes as a kid, but looking it up, that term refers to Dobsonfly larva. These are definitely Dragonfly larva exos.

An absolutely wonderful trip! I am not sure about new age hippy dippy tree talking but I always talk to them. When meandering to work there is a small stand of pine trees that I always say hello to. haha! I admit, I do look behind me to make sure no one is there because could be they may call the authorities and report there is a crazy old woman on the street talking to trees. lol Thanks for sharing your week in a canoe! Hopefully Joe will fix the yolk before the next one! haha!

Condolences to young man's friends and family who's life was lost😔 It's beautiful that the rainbow appeared. I saw more than one person on our trip paddling with no life vest. It's not worth it people, you never know what can happen out there. Stay safe everyone.

Very sad to hear about the tragedy on Gillis L. I’ve always worried about slipping on rock and breaking a leg or something similar when in the BWCA. It doesn’t take more than a moment for things to turn when in the wild. Very sad indeed.

Also found Lady Slippers on my place for the first time last year--who knew they grew here in TN? In March though. I'm walking around like your Carl--back has been "out" for a week now--getting better but it killed my 4-day holiday for fishing/camping. But I can stand straight again as of yesterday, just gotta be mindful of getting there. So it was nice to "camp along" from home today. Those G&L's are nice eh? I had one, but didn't hang onto it during a personal financial crunch. The float plane is a 1959 Dehavilland owned by US Forestry-with a lovely Pratt and Whitney 450hp 9-cylinder radial.
