Shug you have the most unique way of making your viewers feel like an old friend and I love it. Thanks for all the random convos and goofiness. You’re a UA-cam Treasure.
Hanging with Shug is getting me through the cold Maine winter whilst I daydream about spring paddling and rock climbing. There’s a south facing crag nearby named Eagles Bluff that offers warm granite on sunny March days. The spring runoff should arrive soon thereafter. Thx Shug, Happy Belated Bday.
Thank so much for the kind words about my book, Shug! I'm glad you're enjoying "Misplaced," and I'm especially glad that you're finding the characters to be relatable. The 95 pages you have is the whole thing... it's a short, easy read... perfect for a weekend on the trail. Added bonus: even the paper copy won't add much to the ol' base weight. The book should be out this summer. Happy birthday!!!
63 here as well my friend! This is where it all started for me way back in the 60's, was a boy scout and our troop went up to Ely, Minn. and rented canoes and went out for a week, it became ingrained in my heart and soul, during the 70's I would go up by myself for a week or 2 weeks eventually coming out for 3 weeks solo, best thing Ive ever done, now at 63 going out West to see Glacier and Yellowstone and Zion, just to start fulfilling my bucket list!!! Happy Trails all!!
Happy Birthday Shug. Just turned 62 myself. No flexibility ether. Slow and steady is my new mantra. Some nice campsites and some beautiful scenery. Enjoyed the video. Take care, Al

Hope you and the Maple King can get together again soon...... always enjoy all of your adventures.....but even better when your long time friend is along.....Blessing to you and your family....and to the Maple King...
I finally hammock-camped for the first time last week. I had found my way down to the edge of the Saint Lawrence River, where I came across someone's secret kayak camp site, stocked full of dry wood. I could have never camped there with a tent due to all of the river rocks. I used a bugnet with an underquilt on a Onewind 11' hammock. As soon as I got into the hammock for the first time, it was truly amazing how quickly I felt warmth underneath the hammock. I setup my tarp with one side having a nice view of the river/stars. What a great experience! I just wanted to say thanks to you, Shug, for all the hammock info, laughs, and inspiration.
I am awestruck with your discipline when you half-spammed yourself. My daughter is home from Anchorage for two weeks. Happy, happy. About the same age as yours. Have fun in Austin. I enjoy your passion for the sport. I remember Jackie Stewart's enthusiasm and humor. Going down to the Big Bend Nat'l Park to see a Star Party at McDonald Observatory in EARLY November with 2 brothers and a good friend. Then on to Terlingua for the chili cook off. I love being retired.
