The Isle of Mull is just a short ferry ride from my home so I nipped over for an evening walk to the summit with my lightweight tent and spent the night on the mountain. The sunrise in the morning was well worth freezing my toes off for. Ben More is the only munro ( mountain of 3000ft or more) on the Isle of Mull. It is a relatively straightforward hike with a good trail from sea level to the summit. It takes between 2 and 3 hours to reach the top.

Remember that hiking and mountain climbing can be dangerous. The videos on my channel are for entertainment only (other than where specified). Always prepare well and be willing to abandon a trip if it becomes dangerous due to weather or unexpected trail conditions. If you are new to hiking and the great outdoors it's always a good idea to go with a guide or a more experienced companion.
And remember - give the wildlife some space, leave no trace, go quietly and enjoy it out there!
A word on drones - I know how annoying it is to hear a drone whizzing about when you are trying to enjoy the peace and solitude of wild places. I'm also aware of the potential to disturb wildlife with them. I always avoid flying the drone when there are other hikers around. It's one of the reasons I tend to hike at less popular times of day and in mid-week and I avoid using the drone if I do see others nearby. I never fly a drone towards wildlife or where birds are likely to be nesting.

Another stunning hiking film Jim! Outstanding production as always and a fantastic adventure. Those views and shots are insane. Great work
Thank you. I'm lucky to live close to Mull. Beautiful area.
Fab footage up there. Killed it!
Thanks :-)
Wow fantastic I had mist when I did Ben more lol
I'm fortunate to live nearby so as soon as I saw the weather forecast I packed my tent and headed up the hill.
Beautiful video ❤
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful Jim. Inspiring to get out. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Nicely filmed. Best wishes to you and your channel. New subscriber.

Thanks. Yes, it was a wonderful sunset and sunrise too.
Well, that just made my day. Thanks Jim.
Thank you!
brilliant work, superb, take care, love all your videos
Thank you. Will get more out soon.
Jim, you're fast becoming my favourite you tuner
That's high praise! Thank you very much!
Gorgeous video this mate. I’ve been visiting Mull for 20 years now and most of the time the peak of Ben More has been obscured by clouds! Lovely stuff though and you’ve really made me want to experience a sunset up there myself.
Thanks! I was lucky with the weather. I've got the advantage of not living too far away. Can recommend sleeping at the top. Cracking spot.
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking you’ve got me researching one man tents as we speak hahaha. My Nan and Aunty live on Mull so I will be back to give it a shot!
@@harryjamesroth Good to know my wee film has inspired you to head back to Mull. I use a 1-man MSR Carbon Reflex tent. It's super lightweight although it's not great in strong winds and weirdly has velcro instead of a zip on the fly sheet. But it does the job.
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking cool, I’ll give that tent a browse. Cheers
Cracking wee film Jim!, very inspirational 😊
Thank you!
Saw a Golden Eagle fly over me while I was climbing Benmore today
Funnily enough I saw one over the summit the day I was up there too. Probably the same one.
Beautiful, as ever. Your drone footage makes me want to fly a microlight over the mountains!
Cheers 👍
Would be a nice flight that.
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking yes, I was going to buy one years ago but found out that there were rules and regulations governing the use of them.
