These days budget phones are no joke. Last year I bought a Moto E4 Plus w/5000mAh battery for just $90 at Target. For the money, it's scary good and runs forever! Budget phones have come a long way.
Even though it's good value what you get is not enough. By that I mean not for the price, but the phone itself is not enough. When you are spending so less there is no point. You can do nothing other than the usual browsing.
I use a moto G6 right now..I buyed it for 200 euros unlocked it does all I need for a phone and more.
im using a moto g4 plus and galaxy note 4. The g4 plus has better specs than the e4 plus for cheaper
@@theambergryphon4266 bruh its a damn phone not a computer
@@JT-cu2vn So you're telling me you can live with a $90 phone? That's less than half the price of my headphones. I can't live without any flagship like my note 9 512gb. A phone is something you use the most of every day, it doesn't matter if you spend a little more on it.
I thought this would be a review for the Xiaomi redmi note 5 pro. A far better handset for $200
Drogheda Drones & Fun agree :)
Is there any difference between the note 5 and note 5 pro, ive read that the pro is just the chinese version
I just checked, theyre exactly the same, the pro is just sold in India
GUMBA yep, multiple names, slightly different options on the ram and storage
GUMBA pro has a 660 snapdragon while note 5 has 636
There's a lot of actual amazing phones for 200$, best I've tried so far are the Moto g7 power, redmi note 8 pro, or for 300$ mi mix 3
Try redmi k20 pro
You can get the LG V35 around $200 new on eBay. Way better than any "budget" phone you could get for $200
Shafer Hart I’ve tried out the v35 before and it is good but I think the redmi note 8 pro excelled in every way, guess that’s just how much better new cheap tech got
@@kevinwagner3636 that Xiaomi is just a huge budget phone, it doesn't have flagship specs at all. The LG V35 was flagship two years ago (with all that it entails) but it's still more powerful than cheap "mid" rangers of today.
Shafer Hart Redmi Note 8 pro has a higher benchmark score and a decently better camera in my opinion. Past 1-2 years budget phones became really good
idk about you but xiaomi's tactic has really worked in my house. we have 2 bluetooth speakers, smart lights, 2 mi bands, 3 earphones, 1 controller, 2 xiaomi phones, a pen (lol), screwdrivers and a power bank, all xiaomi. all the non oem type c cables we have are xiaomi

You need to cut back. I am not obssessed with buying things made in the USA but c'mon...a little moderation is a good thing...
I'm never buying a flagship phone again. Not because of this video but because I'm sick of being treated like garbage by the big companies.
Apple is good I have been brainwashed I use a Mac for gaming.

Older flagships are the way to go you can get a 2015 flagship like the g4 for $45.
At least flagship companies respond to your concerns. Small or chinese companies offer horrible or nonexistent customer service

Dude, thanks for the recommendation! I was in the market for a new phone, and did NOT want to pay that brand name premium for the phone.
Xiaomi brand should be in here. They offer nice products at good cost. Most of them are bang for the buck. 😍🤗

But what about call quality and speaker sound?
Some of us still use our phones to actually call people.
Liar, phones making phone calls is just a myth
God damn you are everywhere
Yeah... It's like people buys phones to watch netflix? wtf?!
Yeah, what can i say about myself... I am using IPhone4s for my basic phone and an old in good shape with no scratchew, blue original nokia 3310 for secondaryx. Its TRUE!!!

Indian Market is full of great value for money budget phones. We have Redmi, Oppo, Vivo, Asus, Moto, Honor, Huawei, Infinix, Lenovo, Realme, Samsung, Micromax, LG and many more all under 20000 rupees (US$285). The cheapest IPhone SE with outdated specs here cost around $255 which no-one buys obviously and IPhone X costs around $1300 (Oneplus 6 costs $500 for the record).
Real me 😍
I have an SE. I’m from India.

Zenfone max pro m1 for just 190 dollars they provide you SD636 processor. Updates till android Q , good sounding speakers , awesome display quality ...pure stock experience
cool Redmi note 5 has better display and speakers with same specs

I actually ordered an Umidigi F2 off amazon for about $250, and it's been absolutely amazing.
I used a umidigi smartphone when the company wasn't that popular yet. It was insane:
- the flashlight on it was extremely bright, like nothing i used before or after, but it heated up aluminum space around it to a very uncomfortable level
- the speaker was shit, but the audio processing was amazing - when you plugged in your earphones it was great, weird combo
- it had barebone, base android, which meant that even tho not a lot of people used it, there were many forks of it and was by far easiest to root of all my phones, neat
- i think the screen had the same problem as the flashlight, on high brightness it was heating up the phone, easily noticable since it used a thick aluminum chasee, acting like a radiator
- again, honestly i don't know how i managed not to light anything on fire with the flashlight
There are much better options at 250$
The Moto G line is great in this price point.
Galaxy s5 is not bad
Galaxy S5 and any Motorola are shit. Go learn some brands FFS.
galaxy s5 is good but it has ram that become slower after 1 - 2 years
I just bought a Galaxy S7 on ebay for 220 USD
Buy Xiamoi instead. The Redmi series is great.
Go for the note 4 global ;)
I picked up the Redmi 5 Plus last week and it's been surprisingly good for the price.
redmi 4a here, the bloat is a serious letdown, but if you can root it, the specs are great for $80

For $250, xiaomi redmi note 5 is a steal tbh
Yeah, I cannot believe they used this shitty phone for their review. A Xiaomi A1 goes for less and has out of the box stock Android (support for 8.1). Only trade of is you get less battery capacity but the Xiaomi phone has a better camera.
You need to shotgun and entire can of Madrinas next live stream.
Woah, I am a big fan, love your content dude. Didn't expect to see you here.
Wat
just eat the coffee beans ...
I think the big thing for a lot of people is that phones have reached the point where even the crappy budget ones are pretty good if you're not looking for anything but basic features. It's not like 2012 where if you didn't buy the flagship from a brand you'd have to deal with annoying lag in order to do anything but text/make calls
I've mostly regressed away from needing my phone to do anything but text and maybe take pictures when I don't have access to a camera, I'm not in school anymore, not trying to game in class (rip sony xperia play) or anything. When I actually have time to game I'm probably home and can use my pc. Every once in a while I get the itch to emulate on my phone but the last couple generations of phones have no struggles there.
I bought a 10.or.G from Amazon for about 180$ and I love it
Thanos great choice
Thanos I bet you snapped half the price away

Fearbleeds but spending more on a oneplus6 does bring tangible benefits, one of them being a dual camera setup that actually works
Kyle Shebilske 1070s are better value than 1060s, but 1060s sell better because people like cheap stuff
just because something is cheaper doesnt mean its a better option against something that is better
I agree with the forcing of better tech down the price range, but that still makes you a cheapskate if you buy the cheapest shit that works
C2Lception I have a oneplus 5t so I know what you mean. Also the 1070 is not more value, you pay roughly 50 percent more for a 1070 yet only gain about 25 percent, so it's mathematically not more value. However if you have a certain performance target, the 1060 may not be an option
parts with higher failure rates...sounds electrifying
negligible to the point where they dont even need to build repair shops. Software (update, support, security) is the real problem, imo
Me and my family use xiaomi devices for over a year now and nothing failed yet. Paid under 1000€ for 5 powerful devices. My Redmi note 4x even survived when it felt 5 meter downstairs. Nothing broke
Pulsar sounds Samsung at best
Not all will be defective. It just takes an extra 1 out of a 100 000 to bring down a plane
Did you follow the news in the last couple weeks? I read that not only the note 7, but also the galaxy S8 and i think it was the S5 exploded. haha

I had umidigi s2 for 2 weeks.
It was horrendous.
Battery otimization is shit, it barely lasted me till the evening.
Camera is straight up unusable, unless in absolutely perfect lighting.
Bluetooth chopped and constantly disconnected if my earphones were more than an arm lenth away.
Guerrilla glass on the front picked up scratches more than any phone Ive ever had.
Randomly rebooted at least a few times a day.
And the list goes on...
Thankfully, it stopped charging 2 weeks later and seller agreed to refund it. So I added 50$ and bought a refurbished LG G6, couldnt be happier.
no surprise, it uses a Mediatek Processor...
I had an LG G6 and it sucked. The camera was pretty much unusable, especially when filming video. I called LG and they said that I needed to PAY to get it fixed even though it was under warranty. Two months after I bought the phone, the phone's battery swelled up and overheated, resulting in the back of the phone getting pushed out. I contacted LG and they refused to fix it. I destroyed my LG G6 by throwing it at a utility pole and I just bought an iPhone. By the way, it was a steel utility pole.
My Huawei p smart is 160 pounds and its amazing. Android 8, 5.7 inch screen 18/9, 2140x1080, 3300mah battery. Decent processor, 3gb of ram, aluminium design, fingerprint reader and a decent camera. Had no problems at all with it.
I liked the way of your presentation. 👌👍

TechAltar made a very informative video on the low profits from Xiaomi. Basically it boils down to the networking and apps that are put on the phone. Internet Services make the bulk of their gross margins, NOT any of their hardware (like you have stated in this video)
AegisRick one problem bro. This is not Xiaomi, but umidigi - which only make phones unlike Xiaomi.
UmiDigi has come a long way since their S2 model. I recently scored the UmiDigi Bison GT2 Pro 5G... I went with the Metal frame with carbon fibre back instead of their rubberize armor version from previous Bison generation (I owned Bison 2019 and Bison 2021). A 6.5" screen with a 90Hz refresh rate! , Oct Core MediaTek Dimensity 900 6nm (2xCortex-A78 & 6xCortex-A55) running 2.4Ghz. 8Gb DDR4 RAM + 256 UFS 2.1 ROM. Their BISON series of phones are built rugged for accidental drops and spills. The built in rubberized skin over their metal frames. The model I went with is their first Bison with a carbon fibre back. Both the all rubberized version and the carbon fibre back version oddly both weigh in at 280g.
It supports 512Gb mSD. Dual SIM Hybrid tray. LIQUID Cooling for CPU and GPU. 64M AI F1.8 camera + 8M Ultra wide d2.2 camera and a 5M Macro F2.4 camera + 24M F2.0 AI front camera. It shoots 4k video, It has a whooping 6150mAh battery. 18W fast charge ability. Fully supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2. Besides being a USB C device with a headphone jack. It's even got a standalone FM radio - no headphone wire needed to act as an antenna. It's running Android 12, has two fully programmable extra buttons*. (Bison 2019/2021 the left side button had limited abilities). And soo much more. But despite all that it gives... it still doesn't support ARCore. It only cost $395 CAD.
Check Out the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global. IMO Best Budget phone!
TOXIC Flicks Or if you want stock Android the A1 and A2 are good as well
Slippy Sloth Yeah the A2 also has a better low light camera. But the Redmi Note 5 is Still quite good as for the specs and value. MIUI is actually not so bad although a bit heavy.

Cuzeg Spiked are you comparing old flagship to budget phone?
Zenfone max pro m1 will beat it easily
Cuzeg Spiked you’d have to be stupid to buy a OP3 in 2018... benchmarks aren’t everything. Processors are way more efficient these days.
I recently got a galaxy a40 and bearing in mind I already had a iPhone XR I was blown away by its usability. It’s got a super AMOLED display which is considerably better than the one on my iPhone XR, the camera is not that terrible. It’s also got fast charging in the box unlike my iPhone. In terms of performance it’s running android pie and it’s a little slower than I’d like, but is still perfectly useable.
I like how everyone only point out how much the physical phone cost and never thinks about software marketing and licesing fees

Haha look at you with fancy tech, I’m over here with a my 25$ Galaxy Ace 2.

Prakash Gurung enjoy it until you get the inevitable emmc failure. It is a nice phone but has a critical design flaw
Why do that? If you can afford it, why shouldn't you get the best you can get? If you work hard, spoil yourself. Done.
Prakash Gurung I think you are a bit confused. My current phone is still a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that I bought back in Feb 2015, and it was working really well until Feb 2018, when it started playing up. Right now it's straight up painful to use because it has slowed to a snails pace and I'm just waiting for the Xiaomi Mi A2 to be released since I'm done with buying expensive phones that are planned to fail no matter how you treat them. If you google "Note 4 emmc" you will start to understand what I'm trying to say here
Your idea of buying an old flagship is really great, but the specific choice you made, if you are expecting the phone to last for a long time, is wrong because as I said it has a design flaw and it will eventually fail no matter how well you treat it

But this is about specific top seller list :). I have 300$ Hyundai phone, Better hardware then competitors and great build quality but noone knows about those phones. There is lot to chose from if you dont need latest iphone like those filthy rich Americans :)
Been rockin Alcatel devices for years, and I couldn't be happier. ^^
Never owned a flagship device, and I probably never will. *knock on wood*
I screwed up my iPhone 5S trying to change the battery so I went to Walmart and bought an Alcatel Raven for $30. With a Walmart MyFamilyMobile.com cellphone service for $52, including tax. I'm pretty happy with it.
I have a Xiaomi redmi 5 plus. 5.99 inch display, 4000 mAh battery 32gb internal and 3gb ram for 150$. More than happy with it but the only problem is the ram managment in MIUI
MarioGamesBg agree
Flash Dot OS
Gaming Hunter i would but the phone is still new and i want to wait and then i will flash a custom rom on it.
MIUI has ram management issues? interesting, I will take that in mind when I consider my next phone.
Vady yep. When you have opened 2-3 apps most of the time 2 of them reload
Got redmi note 5 for 200, 4 gb ram, snapdragon 636, dual cameras. Much better value than redmi 5 plus
Watch out for pop up ads with these phones. I had an Elephone that would constantly do pop up ads until I rooted it and uninstalled all system apps that sounded dodgy, but some phones are getting harder to root. I'd suggest sticking with Xiaomi at this price point definitely. They're just as cheap but much more reputable and have amazing build quality. Or get a Motorola or a Nokia if customer service (in western countries) is important to the owner like if for an elderly person.
Sully Chowder for what it's worth the s2 doesn't give you ads or anything. I've got one and my only complaints would be the screen and some weird app issues that may/may not be phone specific.
I have a Huawei Mate SE, and it's around the same price. It's a great phone, and the dual camera actually works quite well. It's running Oreo, and it's quite snappy and glitch free. Honestly, I don't think I'm missing much when compared to the high end phones.
1:55 look at the in the bacround dino game
computer
1:53 linus the server is down
At that price point, I'll just buy another note 5. QHD screen, 16mp main cam, fast and wireless charge, NFC, and reasonable power for 250 bones.
Nfc??
Galaxy Note 4 is the best; IR blaster, removable battery, QHD Display, S-pen & other note series features.
Sony Xperia XZ1 and Nokia 8 are good options
pls review the 2019 galaxy A series phones Linus
Honor 8X is where it's at. I've been happily rocking a Mate SE for almost a year now, never have any issues, upgrading to the 9X when it comes out.
you should have gotten the redmi note 5
now that phone is amazing
Bought it 2 months ago. Totally agree with you :-)
Crushonius bought the Xiaomi redmi 5 plus, love the Xiaomi products!!
Have the note 4x but when this one breaks down already decide its gonna be replaced by the latest redmi note at that time. Even the camera is great. And battery life is ultimate
Redmi Note 4X user here
How does this 5 version compare to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro because that phones benchmarks more than the Redmi Note 4 version. It's like the Intel 2500K of Xiaomi low-mid end phones.
CUS WE BROKE
4:00 this just sounds like fancy talk for ahem *child labor.*
Yes, everything that comes from the 3rd world, which is everything anyone buys, is made with slave labour. Except the fair phone I guess.
I've had a Xiaomi Redmi Pro for the past 2 years and TBH I'm probably gonna stick to Chinese phones from now on for many years. There was a point when I considered switching to Nokia 7 Plus but that wouldn't really be an upgrade beyond a fancy brand and would cost me almost twice as much as the Redmi Pro... so now I'm planning to buy a Redmi Note 7 Pro (the version with snapdragon 675 and sony optics, not the one with snapdragon 660 and samsung optics) as soon as they make an European release with support for European LTE bands (Chinese release is scheduled for March so I assume the Eu release is gonna be there by Autumn 2019). I considered (actually was already quite excited about) buying a Pocophone F1 but then I discovered it doesn't have an IR blaster and it's a deal breaker for me to need to look for the freaking remote when tv is about to switch off (energy saving thing) while netflix&chill and to lose the control over the AC in my office, so yeah Note 7 Pro is what I'm now excited about and waiting for. And to give more good experience I also bought my mom a Xiaomi A2 lite and it's amazing, too (perfectly suited for her needs and at a great price). As for flagships, my wife has a Huawei Mate 20 Pro case she's crazy about making pictures with a phone and it's also a jackpot. Seriously, I doubt I'm ever gonna go back to a Korean, Japanese or a Western brand with when there are such amazing bang/buck alternatives available. And most of my Polish friends also have various Xiaomis, Oppos, Meizus, etc. as well as UK friends have Huaweis/Honors, OnePluses, etc. and everyone is more than happy with their choice, especially considering the price factor. Seriously. And don't tell me anything about the Chinese spying on me, as if the alternative of Americans spying on me with iPhones was any better (I'm European) and as if I weren't already spied on as much as possible through Facebook, Google, and so on. It really doesn't bother me if the Chinese spy on me and then design something even yet better suited for my needs at a competitive price for me to keep buying from them instead of Western/Korean/Japanese brands...
Thanks for noting the apple tax of 28%.
The S9 should be compared to the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus. That's just disingenuous to compare the anniversary edition to a regular model.
Yes, will you compare the upcoming Samsung X to the iphone X? Are they the same category? I can see trying compare performance, relative speeds, but price? The 8 and 8+ are targeted at the galaxy S series. Saying the Samsung's S9 targets the X, doesn't change that.
In general Android users are really bad at price comparisons; comparing budget phones to premium phones. Too many times the support is terrible, screen sucks, camera's half as good, but it's $600 cheaper so it's better. Not how it works. I say this with my Huawei V10 mid- grade Android phone; we need to stop this disingenuous argument about pricing.
Value gets better with lower prices in general. 600$ more for better support/screen/camera is often too much. Especially if you are just using Whatsapp Instagram and Snapchat...
Those comparisons dont exist to show that low budget phones are better (they cant be better), but to show users that there are phone which are enough for them for a very much lower price
That's a good point, yet the value part gets lost 99% of the time. Having owned only Android phones, I know the struggle and value premium phones bring with support alone. You can walk into a Apple store and get a iphone fixed. That's probably worth $300 at least for the average consumer who can't handle email only customer support. Then we have people here saying you can just flash another rom on the phone like probably less than 10% of consumers can do.
It's $200. Nuff said
5KYM0L3CUL3 My Uncle: I'm gonna touch you. Nuff said.
J ?
Shit I bought someone's pixel 2 XL for $250.. little scrapes here and there but good deal for me.
There are still better 200 dollar phone though.
Aufinator are there? I'm sure a post on the LTT forum would be interesting. You should post a few there 😀
xiaomi mi a2 lite is a great phone as well
I'm on an acatel a574bl, $20 and Iris, but compared pictures, 480p but looks like 1080p and 16gb storage, Android 7.1.1, 1.5gb ram, it's a good bank for your buck, 5in display, got it at Kroger, also has flash light
I think the Sony Xperia xa1 plus is good too, it has preety similar prize for same specs and better overalls quality 👍
Just buy the Xiaomi Mi A1 and forget everything else.
frenchiveruti what's the price of that?
To be honest they have a pretty good lineup for budget phones. I have the Mi A1 and I got the Redmi 5 Plus for my mom, my best friend has a Redmi Note 4. All solid phones for less than 200 dollars
On amazon it's around $200, and I'm talking about the 64GB version
I still have a Moto e flashed with pixel experience rom that is an Android go rom and works as new still in mid 2019
The best deals are clearly somewhere in between. The $300-400 range is chock full of really amazing phones that don't really have much of any downsides over those double their price.
