hey you can download like 50 offline games in a minute and enjoy them all. Also you don't need high speed internet to play online games, you just need it to be stable. 4 MBps is all what you need for online gaming.
If I could use that internet for a few hours I would get 50 hard drives and download as much movies and games as I can and most importantly download the next 500 steam updates so steam doesn't bother me for 500 days.

My brother has fiber gigabit and he's an IT by trade. Has a full server setup and everything. Playing on his connection is night and day from my 15mbps wireless internet. Absolutely not an excuse. They have a total advantage over us.

@@hotrodhunk7389 anything wireless is a big downgrade. I ran wireless from a fibernet router (didn't have long enough ethernet cable sadly), and its still worse than any average non-fiber ethernet connection.

Having that bandwidth doesn't mean you won't have lag. Playing on the other side of the globe will still give you high ping unless they invented something faster than light speed to send your bits.

It's getting there! I work in AT&T phone offices and install pretty much that exact same equipment. I saw two shelves in this video, which I have installed several of. Most notably, the MX960, which is a beast!

even if he has done that connection to speedtest.net servers would be bottleneck
edit: assuming pc he's testing on has infinite yobibyte/s network card that runs on black magic
also, no pc has bandwidth and a network adapter to pull 1.6 Tb. At best they'd get to 10Gb, maybe 100Gb if they could source a card.
It's a combined bandwidth situation going on, ie, you'll have to add up all the individual connections to be able to achieve the kind of result you get when you, say go to measure your phone's network connection.

2 years ago my internet was peaking at about 700 kb/s, you might be thinking "you should just get a job so you can afford better internet". Wrong. My neighborhood never got high speed internet until 2016 because the companies did not think it would be profitable to do the work to upgrade the lines.

A 1.6 terabit connection is roughly equivalent to 200 GB/s bandwidth or there about. A modern dual channel configuration of DDR4-2400 memory has a peak memory throughput of 38.4 GB/s. Poor post-1000ns access latencies aside, if the CPU's memory controller was tricked such that RAM access was synchronously piped over a 1.6 TBit line, you would not need to download RAM, you would simply access RAM over the network controller. So to answer your question, 0 seconds, the download BECOMES the ram. :)

Electro Wizard 1.6 tbs will not solve the lag when you are from the US and playing with someone like in Korea. Your bits will still travel in about the speed of light. Doesn't matter if you have 20mbps or 2gbps or 1.6 tbps. You will still have high ping.

Chalmers in Gothenburg has a whole research department for fiber optic communication systems. I studied information theory under the professor who started that departement, and their research is pretty damn crazy. 6 years ago we downloaded stuff at 443 gb/s and I guess they've tripled that speed lol
