    I make my own tomato paste with a food mill, the Italian way. The skins and seeds are removed, and I let it ferment for 8 days. When I am ready to eat it, I cook them with my food.

    Excellent coverage. All the times I read that cooked tomato foods like marinara or tomato paste proffered more lycopene, I thought that was '''once and done'''. I had no idea one was supposed to cook or reheat them again and consume it warm or hot.

    What about powder from dehydrated tomatoes? Does the dehydration process increase bioavailability as does heat? Powdered tomato is often used to make DIY tomato paste. But it can be put into capsules as well and it will be highly concentrated. So is it the same as paste? Better? Worse?

      @@MasterBott01 Dr. Gundry says remove the skin and don't eat the seeds. For example, you would peel a cucumber before eating it, and you you avoid eating the seeds inside the cucumber. Same idea with tomatoes, although removing the thin skin from a tomato is trickier. You could look for other UA-cam videos on how to do this.

    • @DrJinSung
      @DrJinSung  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, cooking tomatoes will increase lycopene. Tomato paste is already heated during processing. You can reheat the tomato paste with some olive oil and add basil to increase absorption of lycopene. Hope that helps. Best, Dr. Jin

    What about cytotoxin or lectins in tomatoes?
    Dr. Gundry says if you remove skin and seeds it lessens the lectins but I am unable to find much about tomatoes and cytotoxin. Maybe lectin is just another name for cytotoxin?
    In my findings it seems lycopene especially those from tomatoes can help heal cancer but you’ll still get the cytotoxin.
    Any thoughts on this?
