Nice. Thank you for educating us that jazz drummers were doing this well before Bonham. He freely admitted that he studied the drumming of jazz greats like Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, y mas. Good job.
Yes! All good jazz drummers can play rock. Not all rock drummers can play jazz. Bonzo applied jazz to rock. What a shame he wasted so much talent...he could have offered so much more.
You sir are so correct. I recently have got in to art Blakey and max roach. There is a song art Blakey does that has several licks on album version of moby dick. My jaw hit the floor. Directly lifted from art Blakey. That’s ok, he’s still great. Not knocking bonham. I will always love bomhan and zeppelin.
Dude ! It is dude isn't it? Dude, lovely china you have there. Sounds really nice. Good lesson. I always count 1 n ah 2 n ah etc tho it doesn't matter but only thing I'd suggest to younger players is to use a metronome to keep you in time cleanly. Of course you can't get addicted to the metronome I only suggest that as a start point to help with being clear and distinct. When young I had trouble and the "nome" helped me hear my inaccuracies and made me slow down and keep things truer in time. Cheers and again good lesson. Keep on drumming mate
I studied with the Legendary Mickey Simonetti in Chicago as a Youth. Three beats, occupying two notes with an alternating accent; or Heaven to my 9 year olds Brain! No disrespect my Man, but Bonham always at #1 in "Best Top 10" Rock Drummer Polls, is a Joke. Nobody's ever heard of Earl Palmer, Gene Chrisman or Jim Gordon out there? "Getdafuggoda'eer!"
Yes - great . And yes - gotta do that left hand lead ! Just makes more sense since the left hand typically plays the snare backbeat ,, plus yeah - authentic Bonham. Cheers
Jimmy maybe you did not get my request Instead of concentrating on bonham as a great teacher you are please please show us some buddy rich exercises to work on can you do some buddy rich is that possible
Like a friend told me, "accuracy first, speed will follow." And I would add "....speed and 'power' will follow." Thanks for the video.
Alright! You got the sticking. Very nice. The British accent makes the roll sound even better.

So Bonham did it the best, is what u meant. Got it.
@@DesignRhythmfat boy bonham was a joke. Tony Williams or Billy Cobham vastly superior.
Exactly, he was influenced by the Jazz Greats
The GOAT,SIR BUDDY RICH,was doing this decades before Bonham.
I would hope so.
Awesome Mate well explained 🥁🔥🥁

They are not Bonhams. Many players were doing that. Including Buddy Rich.
