Dude ! It is dude isn't it? Dude, lovely china you have there. Sounds really nice. Good lesson. I always count 1 n ah 2 n ah etc tho it doesn't matter but only thing I'd suggest to younger players is to use a metronome to keep you in time cleanly. Of course you can't get addicted to the metronome I only suggest that as a start point to help with being clear and distinct. When young I had trouble and the "nome" helped me hear my inaccuracies and made me slow down and keep things truer in time. Cheers and again good lesson. Keep on drumming mate
