Thank you for the excellent video. If I am studying 4 cases and will search for similarities between them - should I use Gioia or thematic analysis ? Do I have to code 1st and 2nd orders case per case or all together ? And should I analyse them case per case then regroup similarities in the discussion or differently ? thank you
The answer depends on your research question. The meaning of "Thematic analysis" can be understood in a couple of different ways, but I understand it to mean grounded theory without the theory. That is, you code your data with a hierarchical code structure but do not aim to build a theory with the concepts. I would go for full grounded theory (i.e. Gioia's approach) and not just thematic analysis. Use the same code stucture for each case, this is essential for Eisenhardt's approach because you need to compare the cases. Eisenhardt's approach iterates beteween within adn between case analysis. I always start with a within case analysis to try to understand what is going on in each case and them move to between case comparisons.
I am doing a case study interpretive analysis and inductive approach for cross case analysis of 6 enterpreneurors i am stuck at findings chapter that how to write using these methods and i didn't find any case study based on this method for thematic analsis
I think there are quite a few articles cited in the presentation. I suggest starting from these articles and the references therein. Reada the 2011 first and maybe a few references from there and then the 2022 article. Thanks. Unfortunately UA-cam does not allow audio editing after uploading. I would need to re-edit and re-upload the video to do that. Once I became aware of the audio issue, I have checked the audio levels before posting so all my more recent material should have sufficient audio levels.
I know @@mronkko, I think I watched almost all your videos... I mentioned the audio, because I already produce over 3000 videos (audio is always the most important technical stuff)
I do not think that there is any hard limit as long as you have multiple (i.e. more than one) cases. If I remember correctly, Eisenhard recommends four to eight cases. But of course three really good cases is better than three really good ones and one poorly done.
@@egzonkrasniqi8773 That is a bit ambiguous comment. Do you mean how theory is developed after research question has been set or do you mean how research questions are chosen based on theory? If the latter, I recommend Singleton and Straits (2018) Approaches for Social Research.

Very helpful explanation! A vivid and structured description of this approach.
Glad it was helpful!

@Mikko Rönkkö thank you sooooooooo much ,i am still shocked you replied my question..bundles of thx
Nice video and very clear! When reading related papers, they are not clear at all and papers are too long in qualitative studies.
Thanks for the compliments!
Thank you so much!!!! I really appreciate your time and effort in putting these videos together.
You are welcome. I am happy that you found it useful.
What a great video! Big thanks from Germany for your effort!
You are welcome!
Thank you very much! For year, I have been waiting for a video about this topic
Glad it was helpful!
Could I say that Eisenhardt's methods as a design of comparative case study?
Yes!
Best video on this topic I have seen. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can you share link of this article
Which article are you referring to?
Your videos are very good. Consider editing the audio to be louder though.

Appreciated your work
It's my pleasure
Can this approach be followed with only 3 cases?
Very helpful. Thank you

It would also be helpful to have a video on the relationship between theory and research questions in case studies.

@@mronkko yes I mean how research questions are chosen based on theory. I will have a look at that book. Thank you
Thanks
