I watched close to a dozen other videos and read blogs to understand what the issue is with garage motor and remote. One door worked fine, but I could not get my other door back online even after re-programming two remotes that I've used for years. The culprit was the LED light bulb I put in about a week ago! Took it out and the remote worked fine. Thank you!

I have two garage openers for separate doors same brand. One works with remote, the other don't. The one that don't has led bulbs. I will change out and test. Remotes have new batteries. Both lift by hardwired buttons in garage. Thanks for the tips. Very helpful.
This worked perfectly! I really didn’t expect it to work, because it was so easy! But it worked and now my two remotes open and close my garage door! Thank you......
Thank you for the video. I never imagined that the LED bulb I put in would affect my garage door opener remote - but it did. You saved me from buying a new remote, thank you again
Starting with the door being in the closed position cannot be emphasized enough ...that was what i was doing wrong the whole time and couldn't figure it out until this video. Thanks!
So just how important is it to close the garage door first? I tried for hours a month ago to make my HomeLink work in a newly purchased car. Nothing worked. I ended up de-programing the remote transmitter that came with the opener. Now I couldn't use HomeLink OR the remote. I tried again tonight after watching your video (first programing the remote and then following HomeLink instructions to program from the car's button). Both worked on the first try. The only difference is that you are the first to say to close the door first. Thanks. My wife will be especially grateful to not get any more calls 2 minutes before I pull up asking for someone to open my garage door. First World Problem Solved!!
Not sure if I’m in the right video. My problem isn’t that there’s no connectivity or program to the remote. The problem with my unit/controls is that the door will close partially, sometimes it just “jumps” a bit, and goes back up. Sometimes it’ll go down a few feet, then stops and goes back up. Sometimes it works fine. Almost like it has a mind of its own. This happens with both remotes, the wall activator, and the pad on the outside. Thoughts ???
Thank you I am following the steps but seems like the learn button is not taking the signal. The learn button light up after I press it but when i try to program the remote opener it does not pick the signal, tried different remote. What would you recommend?
Thanks for the refresher short course on reprogramming your remote control. I replaced my batteries in my remote and the oper would not work. Thanks again 👍
I love u tube because of this kind of video . Thank you Sir . I also found one more trick which is as follows - -Please check door opener button/switch installed on the wall in the mudroom. Locate small button called "Learn" . Use that learn button. - Press one key on garage door remote. Thats it . This might save you ladder climb to garage motor mounted on the ceiling.
Worked like a charm...thanks a lot for making this video! You saved me a trip to the store and wasting money on a new remote. I thought mine was busted!
Dude!!! The LED side note you added at end... Bro you solved my issue. I was like why is my opener opening but not closing? Because the new LED light i just replaced is on when I’m trying to close it and emitting interference. Great video, sir!
Great video ! I have a very old opener remote and sometimes I have to wriggle the battery to ensure contact on both ends. Not ideal but this may get you in 👍🏼 good luck
Hello, thanks for unloading the video. I do have a question regarding built in car remote garage opener. Is this the same procedure to program the factory car remote? Thanks.
Great video unfortunately I tried all of your possible solutions and still could not get either remote to work. Both remotes quit working at the same time. Could it be that I need to unplug the unit and plug back in or maybe the remote was too close to the unit when trying to reprogram?
During your demonstration you stated to hold the button and let go. Do you mean long press until it flashes and then let go? Or did you mean push one time, let go and then it will learn⁰ the code?
Question, I have a Sears craftsman 3/4 hp motor that came with a smart wall button which has an LCD screen along with a motion detector among other things and it sends all the commands using an 18/2 conductor. The lLCD wall box got damaged so I wanted to use a basic doorbell button ( off course without the light). Would it work for basic open/ close operation or does it have to be the same type? I don’t want to replace wall box as I will be buying new unit latter on. Thank you.
Thanks buddy.. the only video that help me with my remotes. The only other thing. To set the second remote. I had to wait till the light went out automatically., than programmed the second remote...
I just bought a one button chamberlain remote 950ESTD but after pressing the learn button and then pressing the remote it still doesn’t open the garage door.
Just bought a house have a Liftmaster I've purchased two garage door openers from Amazon, none will connect. The keypad at the door connects (I changed the code from prior owner) but not the remote door openers. When I press the learn button on the opener it turns yellow. When I press the button on the remote, nothing happens. This is the same for 4 remotes. Two different brands. Any ideas?
Is this applicable if my garage door remote stopped working when I dropped it? I have been going in and opening it and pulling in the car for way too long now. I miss having a remote but nothing I’ve done works so if I dropped it would that damage it so much that it won’t program ? Still I am going to try this!
@@TightWadDIY and Fyi - the led bulb causing the issue was not the bulb in the machine, it was the bulb in the garage which was only a few inches away.
Well. Changes the light bulb. It opens but won’t close nothing wrong with it. Geez. Oh lord. Big Typo!! The issue I had was the sensors were not communicating. The door would come up but not down. Common sense after thinking, and cleaning sensors solved the problem. Thank you!
Tried buying new remotes, extending antennae, turning off wi fi, and changing light bulbs, no leds, nothing worked to fix remotes not working. Noticed a melt spot on plastic near the light bulb area. Put in very low watt bulb from the fridge and BINGO, now all remotes work like a charm. Hope this helps someone!!😄😅
If you don’t have color purple learn button door opener, different the color a learn button or if you have same the color of a purple learn button a remote by chamberlain or lift master.
Thanks for this video. It led me to pull the LED bulb to try to fix my issue. Unfortunately, this didn't solve it. I have the exact same model in your video. I recently installed a LiftMater Security 2.0 with MyQ. While the old remote trains to the old opener, and the new one trains to the new opener, I can't get the new one to train to the old opener. Have you come across this before?
A person moved out of my home. Their car had my garage door program coded in the visor of their car. If I follow steps in the above video, will the code previously programmed in their car no longer work?
The process I show here doesn’t erase existing codes. Your opener should have steps showing on the back telling how to clear them though. Typically you just hold down the Learn button for 15 seconds but not on all units.
I have a new chamberlain b970 opener. And a 2006 Chevy Silverado with the universal home remote. I have gone through all of the steps to pair it both with the supplied remote and the learn button. NO SUCCESS! Do you have any answers. Btw the old Craftsman and older Genie worked fine
Thanks for the video. My liftmaster garage door remote opener and keypad only works when opener light goes off after 4.5 minute. The bulb is incandescent, the batteries are fresh. Any suggestions?
@@TightWadDIY Same. A new finding is both remote and keypad would work after unwiring the wall control. Could the interference be caused by the push button?
I’m having a problem with it not working whatever I do. Have the same setup and I’m trying to program the 2nd or 3rd buttons to open the other door. I don’t have any non LED bulbs to use right now but I tried programming it without a bulb. Any tips would be appreciated. Also is there a limited number that can be programmed? Two remotes are programmed to it, mine is programmed to the other door
Love the video, but my second Craftsman remote still does not work. Tried removing LED bulbs. Did not help. Learn button goes on, press the remote, no flashing..... 1st remote stil works.. Also tried unlugging/plugging opener back in. Any other ideas? Someone mentioned a brand the seems more compatiable with multiple remotes?

This saved my sanity!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Dude!!! The LED side note you added at end... Bro you solved my issue.
I was like why is my opener opening but not closing? Because the new LED light i just replaced is on when I’m trying to close it and emitting interference.
Great video, sir!
The LED issue had me stumped for a few weeks! I was so excited when I finally figured it out. I’m glad it helped you too!
Quick and painless! Easy fix. Thank you.
Great! I’m glad you got yours working again!
Thank you so much! A quick and easy fix that worked perfect!!!
Glad it helped!
Great video !
I have a very old opener remote and sometimes I have to wriggle the battery to ensure contact on both ends. Not ideal but this may get you in 👍🏼 good luck
You can get a new one for cheap!
Thank you! You just saved me $200, which is what the company i called was going to charge me to send a technician out.
An honest company would tell you to do these things before coming out.
Thank you for mentioning LED bulbs!
You’re welcome!
Your video saved me $50.00. Thank you
Great! I’m glad it worked for you too!
Hello, thanks for unloading the video. I do have a question regarding built in car remote garage opener. Is this the same procedure to program the factory car remote? Thanks.
It depends on the system. On our car, the car actually learns the signal of the remote we have instead of the opener learning the signal of the car.
keep up the great work, simple and easy to do kudos!!!
Thanks a lot , that was very helpful. Programed in 5 seconds. Thanks again.
That’s great! I’m glad it’s working for you!
Great video unfortunately I tried all of your possible solutions and still could not get either remote to work. Both remotes quit working at the same time. Could it be that I need to unplug the unit and plug back in or maybe the remote was too close to the unit when trying to reprogram?
Unplugging the unit doesn’t clear the codes. Try removing the lightbulbs and see if that solves your issue.
During your demonstration you stated to hold the button and let go. Do you mean long press until it flashes and then let go? Or did you mean push one time, let go and then it will learn⁰ the code?
Press until the light flashes then let go.
I was following the instructions that was on the motor and it wasn't syncing, this video save me.
Great! Im glad it worked for you too!
Great tip about an LED bulb disabling the wireless remote!
That issue caused me headaches for a month before I figured it out.
Yep, LED bulbs were my problem. Brilliant!
Great! I’m glad you figured it out!
thank you so much! this was so easy to follow
My pleasure!
Any ideas?
Great video and I reprogrammed two remotes for my house.
That’s great! I’m glad they are working well for you!
Is this applicable if my garage door remote stopped working when I dropped it? I have been going in and opening it and pulling in the car for way too long now. I miss having a remote but nothing I’ve done works so if I dropped it would that damage it so much that it won’t program ? Still I am going to try this!
You can order a replacement remote on Amazon for fairly cheap. You may have broken your remote when you dropped it.
Thanks !!! Did not know about the LED bulb factor.
Yes it’s so odd but definitely causes issues.
@@TightWadDIY and Fyi - the led bulb causing the issue was not the bulb in the machine, it was the bulb in the garage which was only a few inches away.
Question. Once you program the remote, can you put the LED bulb back in? Just wondering if it will also interfere with operation after programming.
It will still interfere.
@@TightWadDIY thank you!!
Well. Changes the light bulb. It opens but won’t close nothing wrong with it. Geez. Oh lord. Big Typo!! The issue I had was the sensors were not communicating. The door would come up but not down. Common sense after thinking, and cleaning sensors solved the problem. Thank you!
I’m not sure what your comment means. Is there a typo?
Tried buying new remotes, extending antennae, turning off wi fi, and changing light bulbs, no leds, nothing worked to fix remotes not working. Noticed a melt spot on plastic near the light bulb area. Put in very low watt bulb from the fridge and BINGO, now all remotes work like a charm. Hope this helps someone!!😄😅
Wow! That’s crazy! I’m glad you figured it out!
@@TightWadDIY thanks. I was ready to buy a whole new system. So frustrating.
Just looked at your video and now have two working remotes. When did my trouble start, you may say? when I changed the lightbulbs to LED. Thank you!
Brendan Corrigan I’m glad you are all fixed up now. There needs to be more awareness that LED bulbs can cause a conflict.
Do you have any suggestions for remote opens door but does not close it. We have removed the Light build to eliminate the LED issue.
Thanks man saved me alot of talk from my dad 👍👍
MrNoFun10 Haha. I’m always happy to help out.
If you don’t have color purple learn button door opener, different the color a learn button or if you have same the color of a purple learn button a remote by chamberlain or lift master.
That was easy programming that remote, so yeah and nice your video. 👍👍
Great! I’m glad it worked!
nice tip about interference! Solved my problem
Great! I’m glad that got you fixed up!
This was a big help! Thanks!
Great! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Sorry. I haven’t done any work with the MyQ system. Have you tried contacting Liftmaster to ask them if it’s compatible?
Sorry I’m really not sure.
Thank you! This helped me and my family. 🙂
My pleasure! I’m glad it helped you out.
To the POINT and Very helpful info! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video. My liftmaster garage door remote opener and keypad only works when opener light goes off after 4.5 minute. The bulb is incandescent, the batteries are fresh. Any suggestions?
Take the bulb out and see if you get the same result.
There shouldn’t be a limit. You can try a fill reset and then reprogram all of them though.
It’s possible the remote is bad. Did you replace the batteries in it?
