Thank you so much for making this video! I really like how you are transparent about the good and bad of the product itself so thank you man! Also, thanks for pointing out the stuff that I can and need to improve on :) I might be busy, but I never stop listening :) looking forward to more product reviews! 😄 have a great day man! Subscribed! 😝
Wow. I am truly honored. When I saw your Paints, I thought I had to try them for myself. After using them, I KNEW I had to review them. I could go on for days about how much I love them, but no one would believe me 🤣 I have watched all your videos so far and can't wait for your Banshee vid! Keep up the amazing work and NEVER STOP BUILDING! 😁
I'm not ready, nor do I have the space to airbrush, but interested in Studio G's paint line. Could this paint line be used for hand-brush painting, or will it dry too quickly?
These version 1 GPaints are advertised as being able to he hand brushed, which they can be in small batches like I did on the face of the Beyond Global. I can't say the same for the V2 though.
I found your video after purchasing the GPaint black, liking it, and then looking for more information on whether the other colors were worth buying so thank you for this review! Something that wasn't mentioned in the video that made me purchase the black paint was its price. I have a few 10mL jars of Tamiya paint, and the price per mL of Gpaint is significantly less than the Tamiya paint: About 25 cents/mL for Tamiya vs 15 cents/mL for Gpaint. That by itself is the reason why I purchased the black Gpaint and why I'm looking to start using these paints in the future.
Nice and honest review! Thanks. One question comes to mind. How do you clean the airbrush afterwards? What product would you recommend? I never used lacquer, so before trying I’d like to know.
Hey! Great question! Lacquers are awesome that they can be cleaned between paints using just thinner! At the end of a paint session clean it out with more thinner. Once clear, you can break your airbrush down and use a dedicated airbrush cleaner. My recommendation is the Tamiya Airbush cleaner. 😁 Happy painting!
Nice valuable video you made! I have been using GPaint for my last 4 build videos and definitely won't be the last! Haha Yeah I wish the black and white come in larger bottles in future for custom colours mixing and preshading~ Great stuff, liked, subbed and belled! Will watch more of your other videos! Keep it up!
great video but you need to slow down on talking. seems your rushed to do the video and need to breathe. feel like i missed out on what you were talking about because it was rushed.
Hey Rob! Thank you for the honest feedback! You aren't the first person to point this out and definitely won't be the last 😆 I have worked on it since this video. If you wouldn't mind checking it my newer videos to see if I've improved I'd greatly appreciate your kindness. If not, thank you for doing by and helping me out regardless. 😁
Not only the 4 colours are quite different from the primary colours It is also lacking cyan and magenta which are very common Just give me pure yellow, cyan, and magenta please
I like your videos but for those of us who use headphones your intro music is blowing out our eardrums!! Might consider dialing it down a notch or two.
in a review i'd like to see some comparison with other lacquer brands. i know its kinda sorta in a different category since its already pre-thinned however for me quality>>>>>convenience id also like to see some close up shots of painted parts
Thanks for your suggestions! I'll definitely give it a go. Which brands would you want to see it compared to? Gaia will be on that list, but do you want to see one more? Let me know!
Ya I agree, pre thinned not my thing. Ill stick to Gaia notes and Mr hobby and I prefer to mix my own anyways. No way to know what kind of thinner or how good the quality of the pigment is. It could be automotive paint mixed with hardware store thinner for all we know. But to each their own.
My dude! This is legit the first time I've heard someone mention gunpla/hobby painting for emotional and mental therapy! I have been struggling with being a disabled Army Veteran still "living the war".... Thank you for that simple little statement. Instant fan/supporter/cheerleader... Thank you for what you do, you have no idea what it means for the veteran community...
Hey Dr. Zeuss. Thank you so much! I am so glad that people are seeing the benefits of such a fun hobby. I hope that one of my future videos can touch on important topics like PTSD and how it can help veterans cope with their experiences. I promise to continue to get better to spread the message as far as I can. 😁
You COULD hand paint these, but I'd honestly recommend acrylics. Some of my favorites are Vallejo, Citadel, and Tamiya. That way you don't have to wear a mask when painting.
Been using these babies for months, very accurate review! good stuff also lol and best on your pacing I can tell you're exited about what you're speaking about. Also the paint is Matte finish if anyone needed that info as not everyone likes that finish on their kits.
@@PlamoTherapist Oh ya I've got everything set up (Tamiya colors definitely demand it lol) but that's exciting. I'm definitely going to give these a go. Thank you so much!
Is that a Barbatos Lupus Rex with Deathscythe wings next to the M249 SAW? That is... absolutely... beautiful.... just like the video. :D Thank you for this review, these are the paints I plan to start working with them. Keep up the great work :D
One thing that comes to mind is if you're going to say "step up to lacquers" you may want to list what lacquers bring to the table. One big thing that doesn't seem to get mentioned either is just how potent is the smell? This is something even some acrylic paint companies don't mention (for example: Reaper Bones has virtually no smell through an airbrush, whereas Mission Models has a rather potent scent that builds up over time even with one of the cheaper portable airbrush spray booths) I'm curious about the paints, since lacquers do thin, even coats a lot easier than acrylics and can be sanded afterwards, but scent is something I definitely have to keep in mind as well. Sure, I plan on getting a Pace airbrush booth at some point, but for now, it's the 16" portable plastic fantastic until I can afford the massive wallet hit a proper booth such as a pace has.
Hey man. Thanks for taking the time for your well thought out comment. Lacquers are model paints on easy mode. They are not as finicky as acrylics in my experience, and tend to clog less. Lacquers are much more resilient than acrylics and even enamels, meaning less prone to chips and scratches. While there is a slight acetone scent to lacquers, a respirator should be worn at all times when handling them which I believe is why smell isn't mentioned in many lacquer videos. While a good spraybooth is recommended, I would still recommend proper PPE, even with acrylics. Protect yourself so you can build for many more years to come! Again, thanks for your comment it helps me to make better videos for you guys. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please let me know.
Great review, just found your channel. Someone said you don’t talk about the smell but he probably didn’t watch until the end. Tip!:-> I was really distracted by your movements, (it looked like you wanted to take-off like a VTOL) and maybe try and talk a bit slower, cause it feels like you reviewed in one sentence. I know it has nothing to do with the product but this really triggered me writing this. Take care and happy modeling.
Hey man! Thanks for checking out my channel! I appreciate your feedback and you are not the first person to tell me to slow down! 🤣 I'll be doing a new GPaint video in the near future, so please check back and tell me how I did. 😁
Thanks for the review. Got my bottles a little while ago but haven't used them yet ;) Noob question : I just come from acrylics and I wonder how you clean your airbrush with gpaints. Acetone, Isopropanol, tamiya lacquer thinner ? which one is best ?
So one of cool part about these paints is that you can mix colors to make what you need! Depending on how bright or dark magenta you want, try mixing in some whites, blacks, and blues to find a combination that works!
Thanks for the review. I use acrylic paint on my gundams because it is easily available where I live and I'm also a miniature painter. I did want to try lacquer paint tho. I picked up the G paint but I haven't used them yet. Thanks for all the info.
Absolutely! I have been using acrylic up until now myself. Please be safe when using the G Paints! Do you have an IG or a channel? I'd love to follow and see your work!
@@PlamoTherapist Thanks. I don't have a channel but I was looking into starting one. I'll definitely be starting IG pretty soon. I've just been dragging my feet on it.

I love the studio g paints they're great however I find I like splash paints better. As I'm an automotive painter I really like the vibrancy of the automotive grade pigments that they use. Though for someone who is just starting out the 2 k clears and primers may be a bit difficult to use.
Hey! Thanks for sharing. As someone just switching over from acrylic to lacquer. These paints were great for someone new to the lacquer game. I'll have to check out splash Paints in the future. Are they pre-thinned?

Hey so I’ve got a question can I spray with those paints outside because I have a small house and don’t have a any extra rooms and also what primer do you use for them and then type of airbrush cleaner and last because I’m a beginner to airbrush I wanted to ask if this is a good place to start
These are the old paints, not his new batch. I haven't worked with them yet, but I'm interested to see how they hold up compared to traditional paint and primer. I'll definitely test them for sure! 😁
I can't say when I'll get to them, but if you got notifications turned on, it'll let you guys know. And I'll try to remember to come back here and update you guys. 😁
Great question. StudioG comes out to $9 a bottle. While some Gaia's are cheaper, you still have to get thinners and mixer bottles. Considering that 15ml bottles make about 30-45 ml after thinner, you're getting a deal over the smaller bottles, but the bigger 50ml jars might be more cost efficient. However, those bottles don't come in a the colors.

can confirm, gpaint is good.
Does it dry glossy and/or is a top coat recommended? I'm interested in these but I have yet to airbrush a lacquer type paint.
These dry to a bit of a gloss unlike the V1s. What you see is no topcoat or anything because honestly, it doesn't need it.
