This was interesting to watch. I still recommend priming though, this is the proper way to have a contistent hue across your model kit. If I may ask, could you repeat the test and use Vallejo Mecha colour, and allow all paints to cure for 24 hours? Thanks for the video 🖖👍
Totally agree with you, I'm a firm believer in priming for the purpose of creating a blank canvas, especially for painting custom colours. This is a great product as alternative for beginners or for people who have run out of primers. If you check my MG RX-78-2 Ver.3.0 video. I used GPaint exactly for that purpose, created ambient occlusion effect first with black as base and white for the lighting, before spraying on my colours. When I get Vallejo's Mecha colours in future (I have them in my wishlist) I will be keen on a test and review video!
This needs more views tbh. I recently got the single g paint white from newtype in the U.S took over a week even though I live nearby in California. But I have to say great review it made me want to buy the pack. Do you have any rec or video for an airbrush for starters, or testing airbrushes in the same way with the ones you own. Thanks for the watching and sharing with your friends! For starters, I would recommend just getting a cheap dual action airbrush you can find. They should be decent enough quality for you to practice and just get familiar with the process and don't mind rough handling and if it gets damaged after a while. I use the V1 gpaint and love it. I will deff try this new V2 . Nice review. Hey a tip i do is i take the cap apart after i am done painting and clean it out. Because i had a issue where the paint dried a little and got in my airbrush.
I have both color sets of the original g paint. I love the colors, but I have had issues with masking. I later realized a clear coat helps. Love the colors and it lays down and cleans up great. I'd try the g2 maybe when I've used the originals up. It's a lot of product for the price.
One of my gripes about gen 1 blue was the glossiness. Nice to see Studio G saw the same issue and matted it down. I really love the high pigment density, yes I can confirm you don't need primer. However the end colour is different if you do apply a primer. Just something to note. The scratch resistance is phenomenal, and is actually more resistant if you *don't* prime the surface. Do you premix your paints and thinners? Curious about the mr color and the primer you had in the bigger droppers. If so, where are you getting the label and dropper?
Yeah I prethin my primary colour paints for Mr. Color in 30ml dropper bottles and Mr. Finishing Surfacer in 100ml dropper bottle! Those bottles I used are from AK and they include a ball in each bottle for better mixing. As for the label I just peal off from the original bottles, cut and apply on the dropper bottles. Hope that helps if you want to do the same!
@@KelgaCreations I do like the idea. Do you have issues with long term storage from them being premix? I may do this to mine to save me time from thinning later. Are you thinning the the mr color 1:1 in them? Thanks for the replies!
No problem with long storage for me, just shake them up and good to go! For Mr. Color paints, the ratio to thinning sauce is 1:2, the paint bottle is 10ml and the small dropper is 30ml. For the primer I thin 40ml of primer to 60ml of thinning sauce to fill the larger dropper of 100ml. These ratios work well for my preferences.
I recommend trying out one bottle or two if you can't get the whole pack! My friend, at the end of the video, he got the Dark Iron to try and then was blown away and instantly bought the whole pack! 😆
The problem without using a primer is the color is not uniform. Meaning to get all parts to look the same you need to put down a ton of paint which is wasteful. You should always always always use a primer to make a top notch model.
