    I've just had my box 2 weeks ago, glad I found this video. A very very late question but I hope that my question will be answered. How much PSI do I need to be able to paint with GPaint? Is my 25psi airbrush enough? Or do I need to thin the paint? An answer would be greatly appreciated! 😊

    Hey PT, sorry for the late comment. So I’ve been on the fence for a while about the Gpaint set. My question is - how well does Gpaint Version 2 self level as it dries? Would you have to add a little bit of retarder to the mix or some Mr. Leveling Thinner? I’ve seen some other reviews and noticed some of the samples had some orange peeling. I’m not sure if it was due to technique or the actual paint. Thanks again and keep up the great work! 👍

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Dennis! No worries dude! I'm always happy to see people engaging with me and my content.
      The GPAINTS were perfect as they dried. They definitely self-leveled, and I definitely like the semi-gloss finish the paint has.
      Some people prefer to thin it a bit, but for me, spraying a bit higher (25 PSI) was more than enough to get the paint looking smooth without any additives. Hope this helps and can't wait to see what you create. If you got an IG, let me know so I can see what you're doing! I always love seeing other people's work.

    These paints are not good when compared to Gaia, e7 or dspiea. All offer a better product for a better price. Imo.

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Kyllerkill, thank you for the comment. I would argue that the prices become negligible once you start adding in the additional bottles, thinners, and even primers for the brands you mentioned.
      As for "better," a beginner is probably going to prefer an already thinned product over having to mix their own and figure out the correct ratios for whatever paint they choose. If you're a seasoned painter and you already have a preferred paint line, this product probably won't do much for you. However, for me and people who may be in the same shoes I was in one year ago, a paint that is pre-thinned, ready to go, no primer needed will be perfect to give you all the confidence you need to get started. And that's bigger than just the brand itself.

  • @Karlkhcheng

    scratching the paint with wood and metal sticks does not tell us anything! It would be better to show moving painted joints or try to use one painted piece to scratch another.

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Karl, that's an interesting observation. I thought by intentionally trying to scratch the pieces with something harder than paint such as wood and metal would be a good analogue. If the paint can withstand intentional abrasions, then I figured it could stand accidental abrasions. Also, I didn't think rubbing two paint spoons together would make for good content. 🤣🤣🤣 Jokes aside, I WILL take that into consideration if I do another video. Thank you for commenting and giving me feedback. 😁
      Edit: I went back through old footage and did rub the spoons together. The Vallejo scuffed a bit, but no difference for the lacquers.

    You should have used the Vallejo Mecha Colour range instead of the Game Colour, Mecha Colour is much more durable. You still cannot compare the durability of Acrylics vs Lacquers though, not really a fair comparison I think, but I still think people should use Acrylics, safer for the environment

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  3 роки тому +1

      Hey man, thanks for the comment! The game color is what I had for minis. For hand painting, it's solid, but yes, it's not fair to compare it to Lacquer. I just used it for demonstration purposes since it's what I had. 😁 Thanks for the feedback!

    I can say I'm a lot happier with the pigment in the 2.0. My biggest complaint with the 1.0 was how dull they were. It took so many passes to build the color up and honestly it was just frustrating how long it took to get a bright color compared to other brands. But this is so much better the color choices are still rather small and disappointing but the color guide was nice so I didn't waste paint mixing and matching

  • @adamcramer8222
    @adamcramer8222 3 роки тому +2

    I pick up 2 box set, but so far all the reviews I've seen and test are paint on spoon let it dry and test and I think that somewhat gives it a false hope.
    What concerns me with this paint is using it on resin will it hold a scratch test. Second test which alot of modelers do is when masking certain parts for color separation, we tend to just trim and cut the masking while its on the kit. I think that would be the ultimate test for this type of paint.

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Adam! Great questions! That's kind of why I included the Infinite Justice in the video. While there were no explicit tests to show scratching there. From my analysis, it holds up well to constantly being reposed. No scratches or chips from parts rubbing together even without topcoat.
      In terms of working on resin, that is out of my wheelhouse, but I don't think it's being advertised for resin. As I mentioned in the video, I still find these paints to be the perfect paint for new painters or painters wanting to switch from acrylic to lacquers. Most people doing resin kits probably already have a selection of paint to be used and more paints are probably not on their radar, but if you plan to use these on a resin kit let us know how it goes. Best of luck to you!

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  Рік тому +1

      Hey there. Vallejo is not going to be as strong as the others. The top-coat will definitely make it tougher than without, but if you can get a lacquer top-coat, that would be better than Vallejo's acrylic top-coat.

      @Sharkey007x Рік тому +1

      @@PlamoTherapist ah, so you can mix laquor topcoat with acrylic paint without any interferance?
      Also, is there any special care that needs to be taken when airbrushing with varnish? (and how do you thin that...)

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  Рік тому

      I would be careful to say mix. You can topcoat OVER acrylics, but don't mix them. Just want to be absolutely clear (I can't imagine what would happen 😱😱😱).
      As far as airbrushing varnish, I really have no experience with that. Now if you're talking about Vallejo varnish, treat it like a regular top-coat and paint away.

      Hey Rob! That's the cool part about the Gpaint Version 2! They're primerless and scratch resistant! There are properties in the paint itself that makes it adhere strongly even without the primer.
