My mom literally hates vegan cheese! She secretly tried this one after I made it for Christmas, but she had to come clean: she said it is one of the tastiest vegan things she ever tried. According to her, it tastes exactly like cheese. Thank you Jana!!
Just made this! I cannot stop eating it! It's the very best tastiest vegan cheese I've had since becoming vegan 2 years ago. I cannot believe it! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I CANNOT SHOUT THIS LOUD ENOUGH ALL THE WAY FROM SOUTH AFRICA! I HOPE YOU CAN HEAR ME??
Loud and clear! 😆Your comment make me giggle here! 😜Im super happy you liked it, I also LOVE this cheese, I make it all the time! Lots of love to you the in beautiful South Africa! ❤️
This cheese recipe is insanely delicious. Omg I’ve had such horrible experiences with making vegan cheese; it’s always been gross, horrible texture, or made of ingredients a poor college student like me couldn’t easily access. I really appreciate how this is made of cheap and accessible ingredients. I just love how delicious this was! It made me subscribe haha. I also made this cheese with some substitutions. I forgot to peel the potatoes, I used coconut milk, coconut oil, and I omitted the olives and brine. I couldn’t stop eating this. It does melt, but it’s not as stretchy as real cheese, and crisped up under a broiler. One thing I will say is that I wish she would have demonstrated how the finished product melted and stretched.
Thank you Chef Jana ! We can never get too many vegan cheese recipes from you, the slight variations appeal to different tastes and different meals. Around me store bought vegan cheese is VERY EXPENSIVE - not only do we save money, but we also get to control the ingredients. We appreciate YOU 😁
Oooh maybe i'll wait a week too. Connie (vegan youtuber) made a similar cheese but she wrapped it in muslin and cheese paper to dry age it in the fridge, i wonder if i should do the same..
Hi Jana, I don’t have much experience making vegan cheese, I have made like at least 2 or 3, recipes from internet and I must say that this is by far the best tasting vegan cheese I have tasted so far. I’m very pleased 😀 and exited to try your other recipes. I was very happy to see that there were no fancy ingredients, thank you for that !! 👍🏼

Jana, hello - just now found your recipe. I have a very bad heart so can't have any cheese or other dairy due to the high cholesterol, and a kidney condition so can't have any nuts or soy product. I was so sad believing I had to give up cheese! Now I don't have to, this is perfect! Thank you so much, I can't wait to try it!!! Perhaps I'll try adding some very thinly sliced olives into the cheese before it sets up for color. :D
Just made this. Even before fully set family decreed it yummy. It seems I'll be making it in secret next time, so I can at least get it in the fridge to set. Thankyou so much for sharing your recipes with us.
Dear Jana, after watching you for two years I finally made my first vegan cheese sauce using glutenous rice flour for stretchiness and salt brine from my fermented vegetables for umami flavor. Not bad at all!! Thank you for the inspiration : )

I had olives in all 3 of my meals today. Then Chef Jana provided another great-looking recipe that includes olives? Turns out I've ended the day on a high note; I can't wait to try this!!
I've just found your channel and I'm so happy about it. Due to a certain jab we had to get in many countries, my sense of smell and taste has been badly effected. I have been struggling so much. I can't eat anything animal based. It all tastes very off. I can only handle milk and I'm lactose intolerant as well now. Also gluten intolerant, but I've had that problem for years. I can eat most fruit and vegetables but not all. I have begun to despair. You may just have saved a life. I'll let you know. ❤
I admire your talent for making whatever your recipe is to look so fantastic. I have tried a few (not the ones with sauce or some liquid) of your cheese and croquet cakes with no luck turning out to look like yours. My family laughs at my attempts, me too. Your food always looks so appetizing.
Hi, I tried to make this cheese but after refrigerating for 4 hours it didn’t get hard, the inside sticked to the knife. I could fry it in the air fryer and ate like that and it was nice. Any recommendations? I would appreciate it as I really liked the taste of it.
Grateful to have found this recipe, I'm allergic to dairy, soy, gluten or nuts which is used in many of these vegan substitute recipes (except for dairy ofc), so thank you so much!
Jana this is so delicious! Thank you! The last time I made it the texture wasn’t quite right, would be able to tell me about how many grams of potatoes you use? Mine came out too soft.
What a combination of ingredients and such a great idea to use potatoes too! I always use olives and their brine to add to sauces and dishes, so I can imagine that the taste of this cheese will be fantastic, I will have to give it a go tomorrow as I have some cooked potatoes ready - thank you very much! 👍

I've never seen a vegan cheese that looks so authentic. I will try it.
