I respect You Mr. Alvin Lee. You're my hero. I haven`t change the world yet. But you`ve soothed my heart with this wonderful and great song. Respect your guitar performance.
I love that the music of Ten Years After is being offered to a generation who wouldn't otherwise have had the opportunity to see them play live. Alvin was a true inspiration and one that can't be replaced but Marcus and the boys are fantastic!
I so agree about Alvin Lee being unreplaceable. I've really tried to make myself like this but after the real version it's just mediocre in comparison. Sure the guitar is excellent but the singer just doesn't have the vibe to make one soar to the sky like the original does.
I saw him in Houston, many moons ago. Alvin Lee was absolutely electrifying. I don’t know how to say more. I’ve seen Hendrix, Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughan… and m@ny more. I lived in Austin in the 70s, lucky, lucky me. DAMN! I’ve never seen anything that compares. Love to the Brits from this Texas girl. He’s truly great and will be remembered. I wish more knew him.
I'm pretty sure Alvin Lee was at Woodstock with them and they played it... but I gotta say... hearing my Dad play this song, I always loved it but didn't know what it was. When I asked him and he let me listen to the ACTUAL song, I was like... "I could totally play that lead..." because it started out sooo mellow and slow. By the end of the song I was asking my Dad who tf that lead guitarist was and why no one talks about HIM! Screw Hendrix... to hell with Stevie Ray Vaughn! (I actually love both of them but...) Alvin Lee had me in just... utter disbelief... stunned. I've never heard riffs played like that... being a guitar player, it gave me goosebumps trying to imagine how someone could play a lead like that...
According to Leo Lyons (bass player TYA.) Alvin Lee thought this was a pop song and wouldn't play it live. Alvin said he didn't want to be known for pop songs.
@@eileenfabri5497 I've only had a chance to see Leo play live one time. 1975 with Ten Years After in St. Louis, MO. I'll never forget that man was putting in every ounce of energy he had to playing that bass. Fantastic!
@@Mark-lq3sb Oh, man! You are dead on with that! I've only ever seen video of them/him and,he is definitely a full body bass player. He's like Joe Cocker with a bass!🤣 But, there's a recent video on UA-cam, bass cover of, "I'd love to change the world," and he's sitting down in front of a computer. Excellent! Peace brother.
@@eileenfabri5497 "Sitting down"... I can attest to getting old. I was 16 years old when I saw him play, now I'm 65, and he was around 32 back in '75 when I watched him tear-up the bass. Now, I believe he's 80. I still have that ticket stub from that show. No computers back then to have them printed as they were sold like they do now. You had to guess which ticket outlet had the best seats. Now, I'm in the mood for some Ten Years After. Time to warm-up the preamp and throw on some Alvin and company and get those JBL's screaming! Take care and keep on playing Ten Years After!
@@Mark-lq3sb I heard that brother! I'm 60 this year... I feel you. Great chat! Had fun reminiscing! Be safe, be well and go with Christ my brother. Tony out. Peace.
This isn't a cover. The drummer, basist and keyboardist are original members of Ten Years After. Alvin Lee died in 2013. The guitarist is who the band chose to take his place when he "retired".
Okay, so when this vid first started, the jury was still out on whether or not to even watch the whole thing!. But then, as it went on, I really started to get into the unique take on this guy's singing and guitar playing. Good stuff!!
They can call themselves whatever they want BUT without ALVIN they are just a cover band playing TYA music. Yes there is what? ONE original member? but the one that made the band is gone. The Gods rest his soul and wherever you are ALVIN KEEP ON ROCKIN'.
Muy buena versión... no es Alvin Lee, eso se nota y eso es bueno... nuevo rumbo, nuevos tiempos, buena calidad y las canciones de Ten Years After.... LIKE
I learned the guitar part and this is the first song i really want to be able to do the vocals too, but as soon as i open my mouth, my fingers stop working 🥴 I'll keep practicing.
With respect, Joe Gooch who followed Alvin could be him, arguably better. Check out TYA with Gooch on this song. Better vocals than this guy, too. ua-cam.com/video/02j3GWr_iwA/v-deo.html
i love this song so much i suppose i would enjoy anyone singing it. But calling the group Ten Years After without Alvin Lee? Even the surviving members of the Grateful Dead have stopped using the name.
I was just getting used to Joe Gooch. (A fantastic replacement for Alvin.) and now here's a new guy who will take some getting used to. And no Leo either! In any event, thanks for keeping their music alive. One of my favorite bands from my college days.
For some reason Alvin hated this song and almost never played it live even while he was in tya. Whatever the reason i don't think he ever spoke about it publicly but there is no footage anywhere that I've seen of Alvin himself doing this song live.
Ten Years After, was, is, and will be forever , Alvin Lee.
No question
R.I.P. Alvin, You were a Rock God ❤
고등학교 때 그렇게 좋아했던 노랜데 수십 년이 지나서 UA-cam 덕분에 라이브로 처음 보네! 굿!
Go for an A fib Ablation in France and never wake up. 😢. RIP Alvin. I am right behind you. Thanks to this group for the excellent work.
Why isn't this song "covered" by some of the greats? It's one of those goosebump songs....
HA! I just said that in reply to the dude's comment above yours. Listening to that lead man... fuckin Alvin Lee... unreal.
I respect You Mr. Alvin Lee. You're my hero. I haven`t change the world yet. But you`ve soothed my heart with this wonderful and great song. Respect your guitar performance.
Alvin Lee died in 2013--don't know who this cover artist is...
Fifty Years After
That is so wrong.

Alvin Lee forever....😊

Well done guys!, it's a nice cover.
Una de las canciones más bonitas que se han compuesto. Big Love!
This is really nice emotion in those lines and guitar solo is so freaking good
The guitar solo is nearly inhuman... as in... I didn't think a human could play like that.
Best song ever written! Absolutely great!
One can hear feel the passion here. Sadly i think Ten Years After never played their biggest hit, onstage with Alvin Lee. Well done !!

I had the Extreme Good Fortune to chat with Leo Lyons a few occasions and I have to say, He was/ is a Fantastic Fellow!

Great video, this is what I was looking for....TY!

Wow probably one of the few songs that sound better live !
A was the bomb
Alvin a master piece!! so well said!!!
I wish it had that killer lead playing throughout the whole song like the studio version had but they did a really good job.
Now it's "just a song"........ not the same, the moment has past .
JUst saw them last night in Springfield Ma. USA, great show!!
Wow! Alvin Lee would be proud.
I Love It!
Awesome to see Mr. Hudgkinson playing live some rock.

such an awsom sounding guitar
Leo playing like madman made the whole thing!!!!! Marcus is really good....but the solo was missing some of the signature hooks.

Nice try, really good ....but Alvin was great...no one could be him on guitar... be proud my friend
Sure Bill. That's right.
Alvin was great... Yeah, but here is Another guy, somebody who has The balls to keep on delivering This gems on stage.

There was NO TEN YEARS AFTER, after Alvin Lee died.
🤦🤦🤦 For sure they are Ten Years After. 🤷🤷

Sadly alven Lee past away in 2013 not even close

ALVIN CANNOT be DUPLICATED
Estupendo, arrebatador!
Well done
Tough gig for the singer/guitarist. He did a good job I think.
Ya he ripped it on the guitar. Good job. MLLHR
I would prefer Alvin Lee singing no matter his age
Alvin lee is dead man.
He’d raise a stink, first...
He's a good singer but..... No one can match Alvin's voice... RIP...

Estupenda banda británica, ya sin Alvin Lee, que fue uno de los grandes guitarristas, como Eric Clapton.
Man is that Alvin?!!! He can still rock!!!😀(if that's him)😶
Alvin passed in 2013
Obviously no Alvin Lee .....but fantastic tribute!!!!!
Not too bad but I just can't picture 10 years after without Alvin Lee....
This comment shows u know the band any aren't a hypocrite

real good, conhrats
Epic guitar Solo , Alvin Lee would have approved.
Соло на гитаре великолепно!!! Барабанщика им пободрее!!!
When I turned this on I thought Alvin had come back and Leo was now left handed.
Well, I've been wondering how you guys can pull this off without Alvin. Now I know. I respect you guys keeping the music alive but..
Rick Strizic agree. They should not have used the name Ten Years After. Not without the bass player from the original band.
Nice name
So at this point t what originals are still in the band?
Tell me where is Alvin Lee?
Hey 2 guys still there...wish Leo was at least there...hey gotta make a living....I understand...it’s not terrible....people a little too crazy...
It sounds like a telecaster or strato, that boy 2 good tho
Nice job. Those are big shoes to fill. But well done

Was gonna ask if there were any good old videos of them doing this live. Doesn’t sound like there is, but if someone here knows of one please send!
Prefer Alvin's masterful original version.
Same here. MLLHR
