Okie Rider obviously you haven’t watched any other of our videos and seen my personality and you also probably don’t know that the other girl in this video is my fiancé 😊
Inside this is one of the nicest "regular" vans I've ever seen. Very well laid out. Outside, oh, what a beast! I love it. Saving this video for later too as I really like some of her ideas.
Thanks for sharing Callie! I first want to encourage you to keep doing what you enjoy! I've worked in the bike industry for 27 years as a mechanic, and you're right there are uphill challenges. But knowledge and confidence can overcome that, and of course having guys in the shop that also support you. I've owned a shop now for the past 18 years, so feel very fortunate. I've also worked as a ski mechanic/tech for 15 years, and had a great time. Like you, I just bought a van, so will use it for the business(maybe) but also just to get away and ride. LOVE what you are doing and your energy, keep up the good fight!
Wow! What a rock star Callie is! She seems to really have it all together. Double cool van. I bet she attacks the trails like she does life. Need a follow up vid with all of y'all riding some gnarly trail just tearing it up! Another great video, just like the rest!
First time viewer I really enjoyed your commitment towards living in a van and being aware of all the ins and outs of living on your own but your living your dream, I love your design inside looks very cozy looking forward to your adventures stay safe and have fun
There's a stigma about girls hiking or biking alone? Every time I see a woman on the trail I am always impressed. It's easy to get out and do something physically challenging when you have friends "pushing" you, but it takes mental toughness, and physical toughness to do it on your own. Plus, it shows a level of self confidence a lot of people do not have.
What an ambitious, articulate, free-thinking young woman. And what a solid-looking, innovative, do-it-yourself van build inside that big, bad-ass Chevy. 'Love it.
Great that your doing this solo and enjoying mountain biking! I have been in the MTB industry for 5 years and not experienced any sexism, and vanlifed on my own. Maybe there's a difference with sexism and some ignorant humans? Anyway good luck with the travels, women definitely respond more to seeing more women adventuring solo!
Her van has all the essentials I would totally live in one of those. No wonder hannah is camera shy. You put her on the spot and roast her @ 10:20 😂 so cool that she can joke around like that she totally reminds me of my wifey. 👍
Rudi Matt did you not watch the video? She’s owned a bike shop she created herself and it was super successful. Just because someone lives a life you think is cool doesn’t mean they’re a trust funder...
@@rudimatt4218 someone sounds a little jealous! Just because you couldn't achieve what she has achieved doesn't mean you have to put her down. She actually created 2 buisness from the ground up. If you did a little bit of research you could figure out the answer to your own questions. Cheers!
Stoked on van video. As a single mid-20s male, I have some doubts about van life, just because honestly it seems less practical to find a mate, and I do imagine at some point I would enjoy spending time with someone, but what you said at around 13:20 really spoke to me. Not really a way to live, if you are not going to do the things you love most. Cheers. Keep it rubber-side down.
There's tons of women, that dig it. The ones don't are the ones who want harness you to desk until you're to old to live your dreams. Hit the road, and live your life!
Callie is awesome. We often talk about how dangerous it is for women to be alone out there, and if anything bad happens, we blame the woman for being so careless to go by herself. There is a lot of social control in that mindset. Also we stigmatise men in general for being a potential threat to women. It’s about time we start discussing these things and Callie is a wonderful example that those statements aren’t true. Big 👍👏 to her and this video.
An Vo We agree!! Things can always go wrong but even for solo men, it doesn’t matter who you are! But things rarely if ever go wrong, you just have to be a little prepared! :):)
I LOVE your van and I also love that you name your bike. I had to explain the “importance” of naming bikes to a friend a few years ago. I’m also buying a conversion van this Sunday as my MTB rig and also my camping home for my summer job in Montana this year. I had a van over 15 years ago and I loved it...and I miss it, so it’s time for another one. I’m in Washington as well and I’m curious as to where you got your lift done and how much it was.
I got my van yesterday...a 95 Chevy G20 shorty...I think I'm going to call it "The Short Bus" but that could change...LOL. It's got some rough paint in spots but the interior is pretty good and the third row seat still converts to a bed. Most importantly though, it has a hitch receiver that I can put my bike rack on. I have several bikes that will accompany me on my antics this summer and they are all named as well. Onyx (Black frame) is my Nomad v3, Fatricia is my FatBike, Griselda is my gray road bike, and my newest ride is my 2019 Trek Remedy in "Miami Green" who I have named Envy. Anyway, again, great video! If you ever find yourself in the Spokane area, check out the trails at Camp Sekani/Beacon Hill. They're on trail forks and there is a little bit of everything for every rider out there.
FYI, there is a 3 1/2 gallon bucket with a toilet seat that will allow full usage in a low top van, exactly like the 5 gallon just Way smaller in height! Unlimited bathroom usages! If you have any issues looking for the bucket, just get a painters bucket and DONE! The Lugaloo toilet seats fit on it perfectly!
Great idea to have cabinetry behind the seats. In addition to making good use of space the cabinetry acts as a safety partition, also known in the commercial van industry as a bulkhead. It might save your life in a crash. You do give up the option of having swiveling seats, though.
2 Suggestions: - The cable bike lock is really easy to cut. Sooner or later, someone will steal your bike if you don't use a better lock. - you can get universal laptop chargers for 12V for very little money, so you don't have to use the inverter for that (more efficient). Same goes for 12V phone chargers.
I fell out of my chair when she goes, "I do have the female urine funnel but I think it fell out of my van one day". lol ... you guys rock! Subscribed. Thanks for sharing. We are bikers. If we'd bumped into this young lady with her bike shop, we'd hired her to work on our bikes, no doubt. Shocking to even hear that she experienced what she experienced. You'd think it'd be the other way around. How often do you come by a girl knowing so much mechanics on bikes? We certainly have yet to come across one. If we had, we'd opt for her know-how's over anyone else. I mean! FINALLY, right? Boo! For those who didn't give her a fair shot. Anyways, great video. Thanks.

No issues with assembly for me ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
