Got a question for you. Is that the original engine? Ive heard that these were known for the fuel pump, when it goes. It trashes the engine, due to how this engine is set up. I do own one myself. A 12' 318D. With 2300 hrs. Love it. But curious if you heard these issues? Some say run conditioner in fuel and maintain filters, and will go a long many hours before engine failures.

I am the second owner of this unit and everything looks original except for the water pump, hydraulics cooler, and the drive unit I repaired. I haven't investigated much on the reliability of the fuel side, but maybe I should. I do mix a fuel conditioner with lubricity into the fuel.

@factotumlife thank you. I've heard that as long as you keep running conditioner along with good fuel, it'll be fine, through research I've done with dealerships that sold them, along with contractors that have them and claim they have 10,000 hrs+ on them, and all say keep the fuel system clean and lubricated. Again. Thank you for your input. Love your videos for help with my 318D

Hey Boss..... I have a 2016 318D and we are doing maintenance - do you know if the Hydraulic Fluid is the same as the Crankcase Oil ?
i called our local John Deere and they said..... the Oil in the Crankcase is the same as the Hydraulic Fluid but two different reservoirs
    Can you confirm this ????
Any help would be greatly appreciated

My dealership told me that same. I run 0-40 in the engine, hydraulic and crankcase.

I have a tip for everybody that has a JD 318D.
Got this from another Channel and this guy is smart - he actually called me about it.
Issue: When I worked my JD 318D semi hard I would get the error: "Engine Degraded 75%" and there was a noticeable lack of performance.
Solution: There is a electrical sensor / plug on the fuel pump (left hand side) Disconnect the plug or replace it with a new one (approx $20.00) and the problem goes away.
I have not tried it yet but I am going to asap.
Any comments on this ...or if you have tried it before.......please feel free.
