Instead of taking the whole bowl off. The black piece at the bottom where the sensor connects is also a drain. Just keep spinning until the water comes out of that other tube that sticks down next sensor that is the drain tube. Hope that helps its a little easier than taking the bowl off and fuel wont spill everywhere.

The deere fuel water separator wire connector is a pain in the ass on the 2023 5e models especially after they seal it tight with green paint. GM Duramax engines held the #1 rank for dumbest connector design/location for many years, but Deere has taken over the top spot.

Should be good I think the manual actually says to drain it daily or every 10 hours. I have since found out it greatly depends on your diesel source too

Most likely you won’t have too , but it’s also easy to drain by turning the bottom black part that has a nipple on it . If you ever change the fuel filter make sure to change both at the same time and fill with diesel prior to placing new filters on to save from having to prime

@@semperfi2507 yes, sir I figured out that’s probably even easier than what I showed him the video

There was a recall issue with my John Deere 5100e I would get same code which is water in the fuel separator ! They told me at dealer it was a sensor issue and they replaced it for me ! Best app for me for codes is the John Deere tractor plus app! You put in your vin or pin from tractor and you will able to quickly look up codes ! Also search parts as well as track your work , pretty cool app ! My John Deere 5100e is having def issues ! Good old government juice ! I have multiple codes associated with it ! Def level sensor and others they told me I need new def head ? Only $2,000 good lord !! I’ve done so many part swaps like belts hydraulic motor radiator fuel filters hydraulic filters pretty much all you can think of even a busted pto shaft ! But the worst is the def system cause it messes with the computer !!

You might have to take it off like I did here and give it a superman twist. After you mess with it you can just unscrew the bottom without even taking the bowl off at all
