You are an absolute sweetheart!!! Your Ranunculas looks amazing & your take on it & how you did it, mistakes & all, was very helpful. I really want to knit this, however,it just looks far too complicated. Many people have said it’s a very easy knit, but I really can’t believe them as I have never knit a yoke before, or a sweater from the neck down with raglan shaping as well. 😱. Now, after listening to you and everything you mention, I think I just may have a go, as I really love the finished product. Many thanks for taking the time to put this out on you tube with all that you mentioned. Really appreciate it, cheers 🥰🤗😍❤️💕👏😊

I’ve knit so many sweaters in Germany- never needed short rows- not happy I’d have to learn- non of my 2 local yarn shops / knitting clubs- know how to knit the ranunculus-☹️ they told me to show them once I learned it - I bought the pattern and lovely mauve yarn- then read the pattern and now it’s in time out for over 2 years 🤷‍♀️😏- I’ll try again this year ( someone told me that it looks I knit short rows when I made my German socks?) I will check again for some one in a local knitting club since it’s been a while- I want that ranunculus sweater 😍thanks for your input I’m encouraged

Fun to find your video as the Ranunculus has been popularized for at least 2-3 years now?
That said, #1-my second version is my take on a ‘fade’- using single skein yarns that work together (imho😅). #2-my first is knit with one strand of mohair and 1 dk, love it as well!
#3-happening now, I’m using 2 strands f fingering for my granddaughter who feels that the mohair will itch. I’ve way underestimated my yardage, the basic neckline of course doesn’t stretch as the previous two have as this is a different fabric. Yoke and held sleeve stitches are now blocking and I’ve gone stash diving for another coordinating skein to use. Heck it’s only knitting, right?
    I’ve enjoyed your video!👍🏻🧶😍

Thank you so much for sharing in this video. I decided to finally try my hand at a Ranunculus sweater and I did the exact same thing you did, used the wrong size needle. Don’t you wonder sometimes how we manage to do that. I knit it up on a 6mm needle and just could not figure out why this pattern was not working. After about three different attempts I decided to take a break, came across your video and (I gave my head a shake!). I was using the wrong size needle. Fortunately I do have a US 10 and 8 in my supplies and so right away recast the neck. So happy I saw your video. (I’m Sue in Orangeville Ontario Canada, 70 yrs and working on my knitting skills. I also have a UA-cam channel (something new for me) CounselorSue - Creativity & Living Life. I knit and share that on my channel and I share other living life experiences.) Cheers!

Loved your video!!! It has given me some motivation to pick up my Ranunculus again. I keep loosing stitches, but I have to admit I love meditative knitting not attentive knitting so I am not giving it the attention that it deserves. And....I am not using the easiest yarn. I am knitting it with one strand of silk mohair and one of a very fine unspun yarn.... Yours is a gorgeous colour...and yes...that green on you would look great!!

I just really love engaging with other knitters who also love this pattern. I intend to knit about 8,435 more of them. Already have hoarded the yarn for them HAH! (Okay, maybe just 5-6 more). I love the yarn you chose. it is the perfect variegated choice adding personality to your project without taking away from the pattern details. Just discovered your podcast and I really enjoy your personality! You are very charming and the way you explain things is very helpful and clear. I totally agree with you about the first photo of the Ranunculus pattern page. I passed it by for months before I started seeing others knitting it and realized it was actually something that I would like. I have still been putting off knitting it but, after watching your video, I am more ready to dive in. I also love that you go back and fix your “mistakes” - something that I don’t always see others doing. I have adopted this mindset after watching Sarah from the It Is A Sarah podcast and I will keep after my knits until they are something that I am completely happy with. Your sweater looks great on you! Thanks for your video - I will definitely keep watching.

Hey, my sentiments exactly! And, I too was watching all the amazing projects and have cast on more than one in different yarns and am maintaining fav status with the pattern. It’s so versatile. The romantic look that is draped and oversized is only one option so that’s why it must appeal to so many knitters.

❤ Dear Rachel, I really enjoyed this video! And because of that I can forgive you for making my ears bleed. Not only enjoyable but super informative and very good instruction. I have been looking at it on Ravelry for a long time too and had the same thoughts as you expressed. Just this week I was feeling the need to cast it on with the yarn I bought for it some time ago. I certainly would have run in to challenges had you not produced this video and had I not watched it. Please do more videos as I am not an advanced knitter yet. Your Ranunculus is fantastic in colour and fit! I so want to tour Ireland. I had a trip booked and paid for and then the pandemic hit. LOVE the color you picked for your sweater!
I also recently made the Ranunculus and hesitated for the same reasons (those example photos are just not my vibe!). My friend made a STELLAR version of it so I had to try. Ended up starting 3 times because I just wasn't happy with my sizing, but with that friend's help, I was able to understand more about garment construction and make the adjustments I needed to get the fit I wanted. Now I'm just sad it's summer and too hot to wear it!

Rachel, how wonderful to discover your channel! I ❤️ your Ranunculus. I've finished one in DK wool after much troial and error [suffice it to say I tore back a cotton blend so many times it is as if I'd knitted it thrice! before giving it up.]😆
Your purple version is SO nice--good for you. To me the different striations makes it interesting and does not compete with the pattern... but maybe that's just me. You've inspired me to try one in fingering weight!!

I love this video. Thank you for your honesty and openness about this experience. And THANK YOU for telling us you didn't do the twisted rib. I don't want to muck around with that and love that you said it's okay to do a long-tail cast on and plain ribbing.

I've thought about doing this one so many times, but I'm a fairly new knitter and have only done socks. Btw, I love that green for a new ranunuculs!!

Like you, I did not like this top due to the picture used but as I saw others I began rethinking it. It is now in my favorites and I will likely make one in the next few months.

You are a GEM! Your video has inspired me to reconsider this make. I know it takes loads of time (away from knitting) to make these videos-thank you! I’ve subscribed and look forward to your future videos. ❤

Hi! I am so happy you made this tutorial!, initially, I felt the same way you did but today I went to KNIT California and I am so pleased I did. I consider myself an intermediate knitter but had never heard of German short rows until a month ago, You are the first knitter who has explained what their purpose is. So a Big Thank You to you!

Thank you so much. Yarn and pattern have been on table for week's. Me, nervous to start the ranunulus. You make it sound fun to try and your sweater turned out beautifully as you are. So, wish me luck :-)
