Not sure if you realise, but an amber signal indicats that the signal block ahead of the one that you would be entering is obstructed. If it were red, it means the signal block in front of you is obstructed, and a green signal means that the next two signal blocks are clear. So in essance, yes, an orange signal is kinda good to go on... ( although I am no train driver so the opperational route plan or whatever might say different!)
Wish there was a game that you could make your own roads on the British railway network and compete against other companies. Would be cool if there was a bus game like that as well.

These days, they would put out the smallest train they can find for a busy service like that.
They come in 9 or 11 car sets on that route these days

You only buy the dlc once. If and when it upgrades to TSW 6 it will show in your dlc packs for TSW 6.
