This happens more than were told. Why wont they put AC in their trucks? Hold UPS accountable for not protecting their drivers. This is abuse in its highest form.
Used to work at UPS in Seattle. Refused to work when it was too hot. They try to pressure you to work when it was 95 and over 100 in truck and I laughed at them. Happens all the time. Corporate scumbags.
One big issue for all delivery drivers is the fact that they need to avoid drinking fluids while driving. The reason is because people who don't know would be surprised that so many places do not allow people to use restrooms... Employee only at most establishments or customers only.
For now on.. anyone driving while suffering heat exhaustion should know and be told to park, call 911 and get medics with an ambulance to come. Not co workers who are not trained in saving lives.
This is why you never put your job before yourself. Because most arent even looking out for the most basic things you need to not die on the job. And if and when you do die, they'll replace you without shedding a tear. Only be as loyal to your job as they are to you.
@@FerrariTeddythey are Teamsters Union so I doubt they are being worked to death. Employees must be educated to hydrate properly. I wouldn’t expect UPS to pony up the funding for A/C in their traditionally open air vehicles.
@@lightball1414Have you ever even been to Texas, Louisiana or Arkansas? The heat, combined with the humidity, will suck the water, salt and electrolytes out of you faster than you could hope to drink/absorb them. UPS only agreed to have A/C installed in NEW VEHICLES beginning with this latest contract. What’s more, the time spent “breezing” down the road in a step van is relatively small compared to time stuck in traffic, digging for parcels in the back of the van, and running back & forth with those parcels during delivery. It’s good to know there’s lots of people on UA-cam who are more than willing to countenance the toil, labor and indignity of others just trying to earn a living

Ups is putting ac in all their vehicles within the next year or 2. They negotiated that last year when they their contract nefuratuins)) negotiations. As a fedex driver though, I don't really see the point. Maybe if the ac was in the back cooling off that oven
Profits over safety. FYI UPS, this puts the public in danger too, not just your employees.
Those trucks don't have ac.

They don't put AC in the trucks because the union guys will leave the door open and the AC on.

Sad and shameful! Thank goodness this driver was unhurt. Heartbroken to know that the other driver died. Do better UPS!

Omg this poor driver I can't believe this happened to them. I'm so relieved they survived!! PEOPLE ARE DYING, UPS!!
Wow, a/c has been a feature in vehicles for decades. UPS could do better by their workers. RVs even have a/c.

Texas? I thought this was a local news channel!
Some people drink soda instead of water to quench thirst and end up like this. Liquid candy does not hydrate the body.
It’s not from drinking soda lmao those vans reach over 120 degrees and you’re working outside in the heat with no AC. People are being worked to death
