Priya Makes Garlic Ginger Chicken | From the Test Kitchen | Bon Appétit
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лис 2019
- Join Priya Krishna in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as she makes garlic ginger chicken. Both the marinade and the cooking method (low and sort of slow) have a huge payoff: Charred, spicy, juicy chicken that is equally wonderful by itself or rolled up in a roti, taco-style, and served with various salads and chutneys.

3:23 Look at Sohla at the back secretly asking, "Should I turn on this food processor?"
nicole_ck_ i wish she did turn it on.. u know, just to see how ppl will react.. lol 🤷🏻♀️
She got waved off by someone behind the scenes. You can see her look over and nod, then leave.
Ooh thats what she was doing
Why would she ask that when she knew a recording was in progress?

I'm ready for "BA The Musical" directed, produced and starring Priya Krishna.
I need this in my life. Stat.
This! This is what we want xD
Phantom of the opera! Molly brad, Delaney as the phantom
hahaha sohla in the back contemplating moving the food processor so she doesn’t mess with the audio 😂
Even when she's performing a musical, she talks about her mom
Actually its aunt XD Mami is aunt for us. Amma is mom
Hahaha
So, every time she says "breast" she does a slight giggle. I find that funny.
Very wholesome :).
zeveroare R yeh she does 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣
I don't get it.
omg yes so wholesome
She's 12. 😂
For platonic chicken there was sure a lot of breast massaging a few minutes later.
Get consent.
Ha :D !
How do you know that’s not how Plato treated his chickens?
@3:28 aw Sohla is so considerate, she didn’t want to turn the processor on while Priya was talking so she moves it down to the end 👍🏻👍🏻
0:14 gaby peeking out looking amazed at priya's singing and clapping was so cute.
I love when she lets her personality show. She’s really enjoyable
When does she not let her personality show?
3:23 Sohla being a conscious Queen. Priya, Claire, and Sohla are just great. We still need a Sohla video 💕🙏🏽

It's only Claire for me
Priya has a good singing voice :o
Glad we're seeing more of Priya! Besides being a fun on-air personality, her recipes tend to feel much more "comfort food" and simple to make. Can't wait to try this one tonight!
1:43 Girl, If I don't have lime or lemon on hand, I most definitely won't have mango powder either LOL
But that's the thing, you just have to buy it once and it'll stay with you for a very long time....
Haha
In one of her articles on the dish ('The One and Only Indian-ish Marinated Chicken I Make
- It hinges on the power of one ingredient') she has a link to a place offering that one ingredient: 'amchur', but it's easier to just search 'Swad Amchur Powder' and 'Patel Brothers'. 7 ounces for $2.99. Seeing she's made that ingredient the focus of her article, it probably would be wise to make the effort to get it. Plus, it's cheap. Others have praised the ingredient elsewhere. Priya also swears by the spice blend 'Chat Masala' in her article 'The Indian Spice Mix I Put on Almond Butter Toast, and Everything Else Honestly -- It adds a blast of umami and who would not want that??'. Patel Brothers also offers 'Badshah Chat Masala'. 3.5 ounces for $2.49.
@@borbetomagus this comment is sponsored by the Patel Brothers
borbetomagus honestly this comment is my life
Priya involving her family via FaceTime, is such a wholesome and pure addition. Chicken looks delicious
i just love how priya always facetimes a family member
Gaby clapping at 0:18 is why she‘s my favourite!
Something to be said for the bravery of revealing that about yourself in the intro. I'd combust with self-consciousness if I were recorded while working, let alone attempting to recreate showtunes.
She explains that bravery at 10:20
@@borbetomagus also at 2:45 when she talks about being into musical theatre when she was younger.
@@AeroGold1 And actually being in some musicals.

Sure, BA is slowly figuring out it's the personalities and the interaction that sells their brand. There is even an article out there about the BA Expanded Universe.
I can't get amchoor here in Rural Mexico, but by golly I have Tamarind Powder! Trying this today!! Thanks
In the video notes she lists an article which has a link to a place offering it. Or search 'Swad Amchur Powder' and 'Patel Brothers'. 7 ounces for $2.99.
Tamarind would be a great sub! I often use it as a souring agent in my curries.
Oooh that's a great substitute!!!
Gonna need an update, dammit!
@Vishwas Singh I agree that it is a different sour note but tamarind isn't the worst substitute for when you don't have amchoor on hand. I am an Indian myself and I think it's a perfectly fine sub but to each their own. Have a great day :)
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Priya more... she whips out her musical theatre nerd ness!
i know right!!! she seems so cool and chill
"just have some garlic and ginger" process to dump in a full cup of chopped garlic... my kind of dish!
When Priya said I'm gonna lay these out I thought she said "ladies out"
Same. I thought that too. Ladies out = lay these out.
Even though I watch a lot of cooking videos, as a leftie I never get used to seeing people cut stuff right handed. Priya's videos make it feel a little more.. normal. Her being pretty casual about stuff also helps a lot, great videos.
One, we all need a friend like Gaby who will always cheer when we sing showtunes.
Two, I don't care how you mature you think you are, you will always snicker whenever you have to say chicken "breast" in front of people.
Hating on bone-less skinless chicken breast is the 'cool chef' thing to do.
soooo...is it ok for them again to like green bell peppers? Or does the list-of-things-"cool-chefs"-hate just grow longer? If it just grows there's still hope they'll eventually run out of things to eat and starve.
@@larsstrohmeier2320 It is a long list. The culinary world has a lot of food snobbery.
As a professional chef myself, I only hate on "chef-hate" things ironically. I find it hilarious that chefs will badmouth things, but as soon as its prepared and they taste it, they clam up immediately. Becaaaauuusssseee if you prepare something well, IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT IT IS, ITS PREPARED WELL...
True and I love them.
its really the food + bad technique that makes it something to be wary of.
pay priya for this video
I love her singing!!! I also love how Gaby clapped despite being so far away
Priya: " Don't tell Sonya..."
Me "Don't tell me what?"
I just love the wholesomeness of Priyas videos, they make me feel so happy!
the thing i really like about BA is with all the different chefs, they can present cooking tips without presenting cooking as like a monolith. So many celebrity chefs hate on things arbitrarily because that's what they were taught in cooking school or that's the "french style" and they they present it like DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE I SAID SO BECAUSE IT IS CORRECT. In reality there are lots of different ways to make great food.
"im no selena gomez" is my favorite soundbite on this entire channel
More Priya. Love her, she's so energetic. It's contagious.
What a cheerful and quirky person. I thoroughly enjoy watching her recipes !
Priya so casually mentions not having limes or lemons around, but she does have dried mango powder available at all times 😂 I love it
Now we must have the full production of CHICAGO! a one woman show featuring Priya Krishna.
Make it happen BA.
I can not believe y’all didn’t and don’t pay priya that is RIDICULOUS
Priya i love your recipes! They're so accessible and easy to make, perfect for a homecook! Thank you!
3:23 Sohla was so respectful and checked in with the production team ♥️ I mean we can forgive Brad since he's just too much of a golden retriever tho...

bruh what abt the bon appétit cinematic universe: Theatre AU
brad would be the football/wrestling champion that gets roped into theatre by his friends and keeps on messing up the lines but its endearing so nobody cares. claire and chris have already memorized all their lines. carla and molly accidentally get drunk somehow on the day of the performance to get into character. andy almost killed someone for the male lead. it was rick.
I want this in a detailed fanfic
Chris would be the director, Claire would be a stage manager IMO

I'm here for every Bon Appetit video. Always good stuff :D
Love it more power to you. I also did the sandwich with yogurt & the works.
I feel like those tiny glass bowls are exclusively bought by people who make cooking videos. It's a very specific market.
I have a ton of them, they're great for cracking eggs into so you can fish out egg shells before they go in the pan. Good for mixing spice blends and making personal dipping sauces for everyone. Love 'em.
Not ashamed that I've filled entire dishwasher racks with my collection.
