    This is my diy chicken and rice fantasy come true! I was a little heavy handed with the sauces so I added a bag of quartered brussel sprouts. I also used the white onion sitting in my fridge. It was delicious! I will remake this countless times in different ways going forward. Thank you!

    Makes me miss ALL the caramelized dishes my parents made growing up. The caramelized pork (all iterations, but love 'em little riblets the most!) are my favorite, but I also love it made with chicken, fish, and shrimp. Your recipe looks totally delish and has the perfect color!

    Instead of ordering Vietnamese take out, this is definitely something I can make at home and is useful. I also love your videos because it helps me save money from spending money on fast foods. Love you Honeysuckle!!💜💜💜

    Just made this & it’s incredible. No water needed the 2 lbs of thighs was enough! I added green onions too!

    A very well done instructional with lots of visual and spoken details. This dish is typically made with the coconut palm sugar but doesn't have to be and i liked how you explained that point. Thank you!
    Edit: you have a good channel with lots of interesting healthy dishes so I subscribed and 'liked'.

    The sugar/oil cooking reminds me of making brown stew chicken, but that's Caribbean. I need something easy for tonight so I'll give this a try, thanks for the recipe ❤️

    I was going to suggest com tam as well, but you did a similar recipe years ago. How about canh chua...I love both the fish and pork ribs version (the one that uses the fermented mustard greens). Oh, what you don't see often that I love eating growing up is the fried fish in tomato sauce! You should do a whole fish to make it look cool. :)

    As far as good Viet dishes to make...I don't think you've made bo kho yet and it's perfect weather for it this time of the year. I love dipping that perfect baguette bread into it and side-eye those whom eat it with noodles LOL! but you can show how it can be eaten both ways.

    Would you suggest to make this dish using chicken breast too? I know it would be as moist as using thighs. Thanks!

    • @doodahgurlie
      @doodahgurlie 2 роки тому

      Chicken breast would be too dry. Traditionally, this is made with a whole chicken cut up, bone-in, skin on to seal in all the juices and flavor. Using chicken thighs would keep it moist vs using chicken breast.

    You used oil to caramelize the sugar instead of water like some other UA-cam channels. That’s how my mom makes it too, I subscribed based on that.

    Howzabout bun bo Hue? That might be too complicated for most people, but maybe you can show a more authentic way (with ALL the veggies and herbs...you don't have to add the blood, but at least mention it) vs a short cut way that still tastes good. Aimee's Cooking, Van's Kitchen, Marion's Kitchen (more of the shortcut version), and even Seonkyoung Longest (old recipe but looks super delish) have done it.

    Is the caramel sauce the same as molasses?

    • @doodahgurlie
      @doodahgurlie 2 роки тому +1

      Similar, but molasses would be too potent for this dish. If you added a little bit of molasses, it probably doesn't hurt, but the main sauce should be the caramel one made from sugar.
