The thing about hydreigon is so true. I did a playthrough of ultra Sun where I traded in a custom team, one of which was a deino, and even with the experience boost from a trade and the experience share it wasn't fully evolved by the elite four. Not only that, but it also takes forever for it to evolve to it's middle evolution so it's stuck in its crappy baby form for most of the game. Not worth it.
7:25 Ditto is also available in the post game of Emerald in the desert underpass. Edit: milotic is very useful for link battles as it is a good Pokémon for many stall and balance teams
I KNEW I WASNT MAKING IT UP!!!! I've always thought / remembered that defeating a Pokémon of higher level granted more exp, but it didn't feel like that was the case these last 10 years. I thought I was insane! I never told anyone, because I felt dumb. But I was RIGHT!
Not a myth. Change the catchphrase and the tiles randomly change. So... Maybe ignore him until you have a Feebas. A female one to breed with or a male one and a Ditto.
Changing the catchphrase re-randomizes the tiles, but not in a way where a specific phrase guarantees specific tiles or anything that might be remotely useful.
The Dreepy line is in the same situation as the Deino line, but not as bad in terms of evolution levels: its evolution levels are 50 and 60. Unlike Deino, Dreepy has a really shallow movepool. Dreepy only learns Astonish, Infestation, Quick Attack, and Bite. It only learns four moves in its base form, all of which are physical moves (except for Infestation, which is a special move). The Cosmog line also has lower evolution levels of 43 and 53, but unlike Deino and Dreepy, Cosmog is completely useless until it reaches one of its final forms. Cosmog only knows Splash and Teleport, and Cosmoem adds Psychic Power. A total of three moves, none of which can do damage.
When I had LeafGreen I found out that turning in place reset the "is a wild Pokemon here?" check but didn't count as a step, so I spent HOURS in the Safari Zone spinning in a circle where I knew Chanseys could appear. I was the only kid in my friend group who had one. Years later and she's my favorite evolutionary line, she's such a menace I love her.
Honourable mention: Runerigus You need to catch a Galarian Yamask Have it loose at least 49 HP without fainting Then having it in your party whilst going under a rock structure in the north of Galar’s wild area
Not as complicated but interesting mat. The chances of any random Pokemon in PLA being both shiny and an alpha. This can get a little more interesting taking into consideration things like Dex level, shiny charm, and outbreaks.
There is a weezing in the wild area of sword and shield that can know memento and explosion, and can be on misty terrain because of foggy weather, and can have neutralizing gas as its ability. If you run into this weezing and it happens to be shiny, good luck catching it without a master ball. You can't put it to sleep because of the misty terrain, you can't stop explosion with the damp ability because of neutralizing gas. If you use an attack to change the ability so damp works then you didn't taunt it to stop the memento. You need a drifblim that knows imprison, explosion, and memento to stop it, but then drifblim can't switch out without droping the imprison, and drifblim only gets one other move to possibly damage it to make it easier to catch. You have to imprison immediately or risk it blowing itself up, so you can't rely on quick balls, and with two moves sealed it's only so long before the weezing struggles.
Hydreigon is a lot easier to get now, in gen 9 you can get it in raids. I got a raid Hydreigon in Violet, and it's a Scarlet exclusive Pokémon. Shiny Manaphy as well, in gen 8 max raid dungeons, you can catch legendaries, and they can also be shiny.
Want to add to Milotic: the evolution is the same in Gen 4, but the initial catch is even worse. Instead of six tiles out of 447, it's now 4 out of 528. Also apparently they change every day, so if you got a male and messed up and have to catch a new one, you can't be like "Oh, last time it was here". Speaking about Gen 4, every pokemon locked to the honey-trees can be on the list. You always have several hours to wait, but then only Combee has a rather high spawn-rate. Except, Combee is really bad until it evolves, which 7 out of 8 times is never. But it is probably still better than the underground stuff, especially Spiritomb. If talking about Hydreigon, Volcarona seems to be worth mentioning as well. Yes, you can catch one in the postgame of BW, but there is one obtainable before the Elite 4. As an egg. Which you then get to level up from 1 to 59. And it is only obtainable after the sixth gym or so (you need surf).
While I have used a Hydreigon before in a casual playthrough, the game was X, I got it from a Japanese guy in a Wonder Trade and it was already slightly over-leveled
@@TheChiptide Munchlax got a whole lot easier with the new DSi trick to skip the honey tree wait time alongside an online "where are my Munchlax trees" calculator
@@sheeplol2161 OK and? If anything that just makes Munchlax similar to version exclusives but there's another annoying way to get it. Like mathematically speaking every single mon exclusive to HG/SS will always be harder to get in Sinnoh than Munchlax because there is technically an extra encounter method. Also the original commenter literally said Gen IV and not Sinnoh so...
i wanna point out that your estimated time for shiny manaphy can be lowered drastically, as you can get 5 eggs to hatch per reset, essentially cutting the time down to a measly 74ish days
I was expecting to see tree munchlax mentioned but was surprised with seeing shiny manaphy get some love. If you want a real tough time then I believe the gen 3 "Channel Jirachi" shiny hunt might be a good shout. The PAL version of Pokemon Channel can distribute Jirachi to Ruby and Sapphire an unlimited number of times but only once for each R/S save file. That means you need to create a new save per Jirachi encounter similar to the Manaphy egg situation. Unfortunately, there is also the small fact that you need to have beaten the Champion in R/S to redeem each Jirachi so you're going to be there a while. If you're a top 10 speedrunner in R/S then you should manage an encounter every couple of hours and would reach the expected value of 8192 encounters within 6 years if you only worked 8 hours everyday.
In PM7's video on catching every gen 4 shiny in 24 hours, someone named Nora somehow had a setup where she could play 64 games at once and she got the shiny manaphy. Do you know how this could have happened?
Im pretty sure i watched the same video, im 95% certain the just used emulators. And if they used emulators, they could have injected code or cheated in eggs until one hatched shiny. Because there are not enough cartidges in the world left for that kind of set up.
But think of the money you'd get selling a copy of the game with a shiny nobody else has,Pokémon fans are wild so you'd be set for life. Even better if you do a "Streaming until I get a shiny nobody else ever has" stream
If you’re talking about selling Pokemon Rangers with the shiny: The only problem i could see is, how would you even know if your copy has the shiny? I would assume you can’t transfer it to a Gen 4 game then transfer it back to Rangers? Maybe if you’re smart enough you could dump the cartridge first to try and find out what Personality it has?

It's specifically gen 5 and later btw if that helps
Weren't the Feebas tiles also tied in with the catchphrase guy in Dewford? Or was that a middle school myth haha.
Yeah, if you talk to him and change the catchphrase then the feebas tiles are moved around

Some Pokémon are hard to catch and evolve… others just wouldn’t make good pets in general if their Pokédex entries are to be taken seriously…
