    I occasionally worked for a neighbor as a teenager in late 70's & early 80's in the southern Red River Valley. We were a "red farm" but when I was hired out to help the neighbor (haha) I did like driving his 4840. He used it to pull a 40' press drill, which was huge in those days. I generally drove his 4840 at harvest pulling a grain cart which was ahead of the times. Great tractor!

    Just curious Mike ,not putting down your equipment or anything like that. But is those disc wings supposed to be that flexible and flopping around like that? I've only got experience with either small discs with no wings or the exact opposite ,really big ones like 32' with wings that are as big as the main section. Just seems like it should be quite a bit more rigid to me anyway. And again, if it's just wore out or something I apologize and I don't mean to pick your equipment apart or nothing like that!. I'm used to farming with wore out equipment lol. That's all we have ever had to use on my Dads farm so I know how it is lol. How did you like that big horse? When I graduated H.S. i went out to Texas that summer to work on a harvest crew and that was my tractor I ran pulling a 850 bushel A.L. grain cart with a 4840. I thought I was big shit after growing up using 50 - 60 hp open station tractors all my life. Spent a lot of time in it and put a hell of a bunch of hours on one. I liked it but again I didn't have much to compare to at that time anyway. 165 Massey and a 460 Farmall are little out of its league hahaha. Definitely could have used more gears for sure. Never got to run the newer 15 speed Deeres but they had to be a big improvement. Well thanks for another good video! Talk to you later.

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating 5 років тому +4

      That’s not wore,the wings are designed to move like that to follow the contour of the ground.

      Farming Fixing & Fabricating, I wouldn't think so. The wings have no wheels and only go one way as I view video. And that's up and out of ground as I view it. However JD may have designed it that way. I'd be compelled to secure it ridgid. And JD would void any warranty. Oh well, such as it is.
