When I was a kid ,15 or 16 years old, I read a book called “The little red car”. It was about a red MG TD. It warped my brain. Now some 65 or so years later I have had some interesting cars, but still have the itch for “The little red car”. Thank you for reminding me of that itch. Maybe some day…..
In the top 5 of my all time favorite cars. As a kid at the age of about 5 or 6, my neighbor had one identical to this and would take me for rides. Probably introduced me to my 71-year love of cars. 😍 Thanks for sharing the video and bringing this car back to life, as well as some great memories. 👍
Out of all of your videos I have watched, and that would be 99% of them, this is truly your finest hour. The car is gorgeous, it sounds amazing and looks like it drives beautifully. I'm envious. What could be better than driving down a country lane, in the glorious colors of fall in a '53 MG? Life at it's best! Congrats Mustie, it was worth the effort.
Hi D. Hard to believe that you took a dusty rusty old car and finished with an absolutely beautiful car. Very awesome job!! I can see you and Mrs Mustie cruising in the summer with the top down!! Thanks again for all of the hard work that you do and bringing us along!! 😊😊😊Darren
She's a Beaut Mustie! I once owned a 1967 MG Midget, she had one thing that yours does not. She had genuine spoke wheel knock-offs and came with a cool brass mallet for breaking the knock-off wing-nuts loose. Same color as yours! Why oh why did I sell her?! The automotive mistakes of our youth, eh Mustie?!
Good morning, Mustie 1 fans, from Winnipeg, Canada ! Love this series, and the way the car turned out ! The Tank Twister 2000 worked great, but glad I didn't have to listen to it ! Thanks for the great series, that car is meant for Sunday afternoon cruises through the leaves of fall, for sure. All you need is one of those British driving caps !
For years my Dad's dream car was what he called a "squareback" MG - 1952. IDK why he liked it... but it was one of those dream things he always put on his Christmas Wish list when he was teaching us kids to make a wish list for Christmas. So one day, I came across a kit car - a 1952 squaareback MG... powered by Volkswagon. I got it running when he entered hospice and he was able to amble it around the parking lot before he passed. Getting it tagged was going to take a whole lot more money and time... and we just didn't have it. Still... it was just a kit car and didn't have the MG motor - so THIS is cool to see. I don't know if I like the car, really... maybe I'll be able to make up my mind as you get this one back up to snuff.
That really looks nice! I turned 66 today. Slept late, had a nice mug of coffee and watched a Mustie1 video. so far it's a great day! It reminded me of my dad's 49 Triumph roadster 2000.
Wow, you're a genius. That tank agitator is brilliant. And Brian is an artist. I never thought it would clean up that pretty. I'd like to see how that steering wheel got wrapped. I do like the speed-up video, it looks like the Isle of Man TT. Flip it next year and go back and get that other MG!
I accidentally came across buddies video last week and watched him detailing it, and it turned out nice. A friend of mine collects these old English cars, and he would love to have this one. He's got one from the late 30's.
Totally enjoyed your video today. What a beautiful job you did on restoring that classic MG! I’d like to suggest disconnecting your speedometer cable and dumping some dry graphite powder into the cable while it’s disconnected, then run the car in gear on your lift. After that you can reconnect the cable and see if it works. Years ago I had a good deal of success with the graphite trick. I look forward to seeing your videos on Sunday.
Dear Mustie, list this on Bring a Trailer. I auctioned a 1966 Mercedes convertible, that I had for 18 years, 5 years ago, and was gob smacked at the end. People from everywhere look at BaT. With your vids and their assistance you will not be disappointed when the final bid comes in. I personally was clutching my chest at the end of my auction. My car ended up in Vienna Austria.
Those are really fun old cars to drive. Obviously you got a great deal on it. I had a friend with one and heading out off state the rear diff self destructed after 100 miles. This was in the 70's when parts were available and I procured a replacement. Armed with a tool box, jack stands and replacement diff, he dropped me at the car and left the state. A few hours later I drove back home and had the use of the TD for over a week. Lots of fun.
Darren, the little MG looks and runs amazingly well. What a beautiful classic car. I sure would like to pull up at the checkpoint at work in this little thing. Would some heads for sure. It suits you!! ❤❤❤
Hi Mustie, many years ago when I was just a kid(17) I worked I a hotel in Woodstock England, and one of my jobs was burnishing all the silver ware in a burnishing machine which used ballbearings and a cleaning agent it worked fantastically well!
What a wonderful result with you hard work on the MG I just love your videos I don't comment very often have been following you for many years great result great video best regards Andy Allen.
Your gas tank cleaning rig reminded me of and got me thinking about all the other weird 5h!t you've done that usually works out very well like the wax toilet ring rust treatment for Crusty, custom bike builds, the Huffy Dragster etc. It's why I keep coming back to watch. I'm not sure why you don't have millions of subscribers.
My 1960 Triumph Herrald speedo used to do the same,...although it only jumped about ten mile an hour from actual speed and only once you got to about 45mph. And even though that car only did about 68 flat out,...I absolutely loved it.
Go back and get that nice MGA...... Enjoy your videos and admire your trouble shooting skills and adapting to fixing it. I've learned quite a few tricks from you. Always look forward to Sunday mornings watching your new videos.
Something to be proud of. I'm 45 so that thing was parked as long as I have been a thing. I love seeing these old cars come back to life and get a New life.
Hello Mustie, very nice car. Great job restoring it back to road worthy operation. I noticed that the speedometer needle was jumping around a bit, I had the same problem with my 62 econoline, I loosen the speedometer cable on the back of the speedometer just a bit and it corrected the problem. Just a suggestion, but it did work for me. Again great car and nice job. Take care. 👍
Mustie, I had a friend in Seattle who daily drove her British Racing Green MG TC with wire wheels back in the late 70s. Her dad gave it to her for a graduation present when it was brand new. I have no idea how many miles were on it but it still looked new. The TD is Great find on your part and an excellent resto! Congratulations!
It's beautiful, you've done a phenomenal job and I know just how great you felt while driving that beautiful machine. Awesome show thank you. Just amazing.
That car turned out beautiful. You did a great job on the mechanicals and Brian knocked it out of the ballpark with the buff job. Now all you need is tweed jacket with leather elbow pads and a "Jackie Stewart" hat to complete the picture
Felt like i was watching all creatures great and small when you were driving its a British show from back in the day put a smile on my face ty sir and god bless you
my grandpa had one of these but it was green. as i was watching this video i kept remembering the 2 of us driving around the countryside in it in the summer with top down. we lived about 10 miles from them and he and grandma would drive over and always ended up going for long rides just to no where and having fun. he was a huge vw fan and his other cars were vw's but he had this one MG.

Read the same book…still have the book today.
I read that book as well. It was actually called Red Car and it was about an MG TC not a TD but not much difference.
I read it as well
I read that book when I was a kid. One of my favorite books from my youth.

the glorious colors of fall, in New England.
Very nice comment and I agree this car is a keeper
What effort? It’s Mustie!
Next time, he needs to do it with one hand tied behind his back. 😂
I love the way you wrapped the steering wheel, looks amazing!
thanks
Brian does such a good job bringing paint back to life. Nice job on this one Mustie
Yes! I originally thought the color was almost ugly, not realizing how it would be transformed by a good polishing. Now it's a proper red, gorgeous.
You've got an absolute gem. She is BEEEAUOOOTIFUL! That is a car that I'm sure any collector would love to have.
I bet he keeps it. Have always loved that old classic bodystyle
Neat old car! All those people you’re passing are looking and thinking, “How cool is that!”.
The paint rejuvenated way better than I expected. The tank cleaner did excellent work.
As Sleeperdude would say, that's a mighty fine auctioneer speedometer you got there. 40, 45, 35, 45, 40, 60, 50, 55 🤣

I had the 1971 MGB. Spoke wheels too. I probably would be unable to get out of it now….lol
@@Inisfad LOL You and Me both!
I read this and thought you were going to mention a 25 year old in the passenger seat! Old George Jones song!
@@thewayidoit8895 Dammit! Now I have to search George Jones songs. lol
@Bob-Whiting "The one I loved back then" also called "The Corvette Song"
It’s been a minute since we sped through the tree-lined roads in your neck of the woods-loved it! “She’s a beaut’ Clark”! 🤣😂🤣❤️🔧✌🏻

Who else moves their head around to see inside rusty gas tanks when he shows us down inside like we are actually there?
Sounds awesome, tooling around those narrow tree lined country roads in fall.

Spectacular. That thing looks good on you, Mustie. Stolen goods! Now find some twisty turnies. Shiny side up!
Barn find of the century! Congrats & great job. Not jealous at all...
Awesome job on getting the old MG looking and running great and back on the road!! Thanks for the “ride” Mustie!
A friend of mine in high school, 1967, had one as a daily driver. It was a fun little car to drive around in. Great video
Didn’t I see that car in the movie “ love story”?
Thank the world for a mustie upload on Sunday morning
A very, very nice little car. Definitely a well preserved piece of automotive history. Great job Mustie!
Looks great. What a fun Sunday driver
Gorgeous car! So happy for you that there were no major problems. Thanks for sharing.

Man people must have been queueing to wait for the download today. Another Sunday is complete now that I can relax with Mustie one content.
Great job, beautiful old British car.
✝️🇬🇧🐾
She is a beauty. So glad she found her way into your hands. Thanks for sharing her journey with us.
Once again, thanks for the smiles.

It looks great...glad that you got it going again!
I like that little white MG with the rounded corners...very nice :)
Absolutely Amazing, Great to see you brought it back to life 😀. She looks stunning. Thank you for posting 😀
Beautiful car. Thanks for putting all of the videos together.
That turned out beautiful! I think you really need to take Mrs. Mustie for a ride in it. She'll love it! 😊
Great job, thanks for including us in your projects
Once again Darren thank you for another great Sunday morning sippin coffee watching your vids !!! Your the best
Mustie1, Another Classic resurected! You did a great job putting her back in running shape and Brian on the spit polish! Thanks

That was my dream car when I was little. Mind you I still like them. Great job, well done.
Hey Musty, congrats 👏👏👏, you finally completed a project. 😁😁😁 She Sounds Great 👍
Can't believe we just past Halloween and now changing back an hour to watch Mustue 1 finish off this beauty 😊😊😊
So nice color when it was polish on so fantastic car. And what a wery god drive sound from a double carb. See from to your next video Mustie1.
Darren, the little MG looks and runs amazingly well. What a beautiful classic car. I sure would like to pull up at the checkpoint at work in this little thing. Would some heads for sure. It suits you!! ❤❤❤
Great job Darren getting this one back on the road again for many more enjoyable miles to come ❤
Very nice old MG you wound up with.....takes me back to my childhood on the Canadian West Coast where English cars were everywhere....
Beautifully done, in my youth a guy living in my neighbourhood made replica’s of this car.
Well done. I suspect that Mrs Darren might be impressed with this. A fall ride is in order.
Hi Mustie, many years ago when I was just a kid(17) I worked I a hotel in Woodstock England, and one of my jobs was burnishing all the silver ware in a burnishing machine which used ballbearings and a cleaning agent it worked fantastically well!
I remember when cars used a mechanical speedometer cable. When it bound up, the Guage would fly everywhere!
Great job on the "restoration" musty!
Coating the cable in petroleum jelly usually fixes most of that unless the housing gets kinked
that or the gears are worn or misaligned.
What a wonderful result with you hard work on the MG I just love your videos I don't comment very often have been following you for many years great result great video best regards Andy Allen.
The tank cleaned up nicely.❤
Thanks for the ride !! Nice car though. I had 2 British cars growing up. A 1958 Austin Westminster A 95 and a 1966 Austin 1100.
What a great looking car. 😊 It's been many years since I have had to deal with a speedometer doing that...
An extra hour of sleep makes this even better.
This is by far the best project you've ever done. I love the old MG!

Thank you for the ride!
Congratulations on having a cool old car, Mustie!
Something to be proud of. I'm 45 so that thing was parked as long as I have been a thing. I love seeing these old cars come back to life and get a New life.
Turned out beautiful, one of my favorites.
Congratulations Mustie. Well done!
Great work! You can now be the snobby professor from Back to School 😀
Good morning from MI
Thank you so much for the footage of running it around. It was very enjoyable to watch and listen to it.
Thanks for taking us along

Nice job Mustie always loved this style of MG and this little gem is a beauty.
Your gas tank machine has inspired me to build one for cleaning motorcycle tanks, I probably already have the junk laying around to build one
Gorgeous car. Got the TLC it deserved, from the best person(s).
I really, really love this channel.
Proper car. Needs driving. Nice one Mustie!
Love the car you did a beautiful job. ❤❤❤❤❤
Those old British cars always sound so freaking good 👍 yall did a great job bringing this one back to life
Looks wonderful and what a backdrop - New Hampshire in the fall. ❤
I like the wine of the straight cut first gear 😁
Now that’s a car I like! Well done
The paint work restoration was impressive such a stunning MG colour
Nice to see it being kept mostly original, she only needs what she needs 😊
Just needs black tyres!
Came out looking a picture after Brian did his magic on it bro. Been great videos on this right through. Safe travels. Ken.
That turned out great! What a beautiful old car.
hi, great to see Brian again. Many thanks from UK.
That’s just pure classic and it didn’t sound like she skipped a beat. They have such beautiful lines.

Absolutely excellent - wish it were mine. If you see a Morgan come available - go for it - they still make them!
Keep them coming
Mustie1 you are a real treasure to many of us! Pls keep safe and the videos coming! Greetings from Sweden and Germany
