I just wanted say I love all your videos and when you talk about the stone tools that our prehistoric ancestors used, a major core memory for me replays and I always think about when I was a kid. I grew up in northern Alberta on a First Nations Reservation. After the fall/spring hunts we (my family) would clean the hides of any moose, deer, elk or bison they hunted. They would stretch the hide out on a wood frame and would start to work the hides, us kids who were old enough usually 5-12yrs old were given these hand axe like rocks with a slightly better than dull edge to clean most of the hide (the rocks were fat on one end with a crescent moon edge on the other). We would remove most of the fat/meat leftover. Then the adults my sisters, aunties and my kokum (grandma in cree) would finish it with skinning knives. We would then either make them into moccasins, jackets, dream catchers, etc. (I had a rifle bag made for myself a few years ago). However Most of the time we would dry them and my family made/ still makes traditional Cree drums. I just wanted share my personal anecdote with you and say thank you for all your hard work in these videos
@@HedonisticPuritan-mp6xv I’m very lucky my band (tribe) is very active in keeping our history language and culture alive, many things in @North02 videos resonate with me. The San "bushmen " practice a chanting and dancing ritual in which they (that is, all, but especially the Shaman) can enter an altered state of consciousness characterised by flashes of bodily pain, which they think of as giving them supernatural "power", as they call it, that they can then use to heal their people. It's notable that during these experiences they adopt a posture in which they are bent forward with their arms stretched out backwards, just like the "Wounded Man" depictions in the ancient cave art. It's very moving to see.
Perfect new addition to my sleeping/relaxing playlist. I'll slow it down to 0.75x and rewind it many times over, absorbing the information. Also looking forward to more videos about archaic hominins and what their day to day life may have looked like.
Mammoth Meat. Great documentary as usual North! I can't wait for the Solutrean video. It's so hard to find content about them that isn't mired down with them crossing the Atlantic Ocean to get to North America.
Yet another brilliant documentary! Allow me to make a few comments: 1. In order to support your fabulous productions, I purchased one of your T-shirts. Let me tell others it is of very high quality. The fabric is a heavy-weight cotton, very soft. Most significant is the pattern is NOT printed, but embroidered. I bought the Chauvet Lion shirt. If you, like I, enjoy North02's work, I encourage you to buy something from his store. They make great gifts. 2. Re: Dogs/Humans: Anyone who has hunted knows full well the force-multiplier dogs provide. Paleolithic people were keen observers of their environment and would have noted the tracking/hunting ability of wolves. I'm sure they followed wolf packs to locate game and it would be no great leap for humans to form a sort of symbiotic relationship with wolves. From there the evolution of dogs is self-evident. If I had to subsistence hunt, I'd sure as hell want a pack of dogs to help out. 3. Venus figures: I can't help but think of our modern erotic imagery and its exaggerated emphasis on certain female anatomy. It is only recently, BTW, that slender female physique was culturally preferred. A well-nourished woman is far more likely to successfully produce and rear offspring. I note that some African groups' adolescent transition ceremonies for females isolate the young women and provide them with enormous amounts of calories for several days until they are considered to be mature and available as mates. This obviously vastly increased the chance for successful breeding. I have to add that these Venus figures may simply be 'Paleo-porn'. After all, erotic images are a pretty popular theme in modern human imagery, so why should our Paleo ancestors be any different. They are more or less exactly like us in mental/emotional/cultural ways. 4. Batons with holes: I've seen some pretty convincing videos that seem to make the case for these being cord/rope making tools. They are almost exactly the same as modern (well, until the Industrial Age) methods of making cordage and rope, and anyone who's lived in the wild for even a few days knows the value of those items. The single-hole variety would be the ideal tool for straightening shafts, as green wood and heated bone can be readily shaped. The need for straight shafts for missiles is pretty obvious. They could also have been used as tent pegs...indeed, they are likely a multi-use object. 5. Jewelry: While at first glance it seems amazing that Paleo people would invest so much time, energy and resources to adornment, again I point to modern humans' absolute fetish with adornments of all kinds. There is no reason to think these people were much different. Contrary to popular belief, hunter/gatherer societies have MORE leisure than modern industrial societies. The Medieval and Renaissance people worked far fewer hours in total than we do. After all, once you've killed and processed a mammoth, you don't have to go out hunting again for quite some time...what's the point? Any meat you secured would spoil before it could be processed and used and hunting takes a lot of time and energy. Hang around camp and fill your time making important goods. Disabled members would likely have been occupied making ornamental objects. A final note of appreciation for your scholarship and artistic talent. It's quite rare to encounter someone with not only the academic knowledge and research skills but also the talent to produce well-written and produced documentaries. Thank you so much for keeping my mind fed.
Ive been working on a theroy for years trying to blend the understanding and historical knowledge/evidence of religion and science and honestly North 02 your work is some of the most helpfull for filling in holes in my theoretical studies. *hands over a gold star sticker* you're a star

Mammoth meat This was an amazing production. Thank you. Long form historical series are the equivalent of writing a book. So few creators use real narratives & images, depending on AI. This is gorgeous.
Mammoth Meat! You have some of the best prehistoric videos i've ever seen, both in presentation and amount of evidence given for every one of your talking points. Love your videos
This subject matter is so incredibly interesting to me. Thank you for making these videos. Could listen all day. Whoops I do. Repeat over and over. Keep recording

North 02 thank you for your work! It's an impeccable contribution to keeping our species aware of and connected to our prehistory ❤ I love these videos so much
The more I learn, the more I love Paleolithic Humans. Just looking at them and what they did and how they lived and it's just...they were just people, man. Like if you took a baby from this time period and raised it now, like that would just be a kid like any other! They're us! I love them so much.
Made it to the end and commenting as requested. Very well done. I'm watching these in chronological order: A first, now G. On to S in a couple of days. Fascinating.
Thank you for your ever growing body of material contributed. I greatly appreciate the quality of the content you create. Please keep up this great work. I am ever grateful to you.

Clan of the cave bear, Valley of horses, The Mammoth hunters etc…. The Earths Children series of books by Jean M Aule is deeply and thoroughly researched, and covers this period of history. I’m on book 4 of 6 and totally captivated by this paleo world of our ancestors. Highly recommended reading to those interested in this ancient epoch.
Another amazing documentary. Thanks, i can feel the amount of effort and passion for the subject in your videos. The scenes you shoot yourself is incredibly immersive. This has been my favorite channel in UA-cam for some years, im always looking forward your next work
I love your videos. I always try to fall asleep to your lovely voice but then I find the info too interesting and I stay awake the entire time. My favorite part is when you showed you were such a fan you had a knife made from this era. Thank you for your passion and hard work.
Mammoth Meet. Wonderful sir, more information in one place than you can get anywhere else. Glad I found your channel. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
I cannot tell you how excited I was about this next documentary I'm on my second time watching it today thank you so much your programming is absolutely incredible
Can you appreciate our ancestors survived in such small numbers? A handful of individual clans are responsible for what we see today. I think it only takes 30 genetically different individuals to keep a healthy population going. Just think of what individual lines were lost
Cant even imagien what a sight it would have been to watch nature in it's prime, to look forward and see nothing but mountain, trees...plains and lakes...it wasn't a friendly time to be alive, but it surely was beautiful.
Mammoth meat. Absolutely amazing! Please keep them coming and don't worry about making them too long because there's so much to learn about this period in human history.
Thanks for the video. I've recently been very interested in this lesser known less studied time in Europe. These people must have been some of the toughest that have ever lived. I couldn't begin to imagine living in such a climate hunting very dangerous prey and competing with megafauna predators. Insane.
You should see the skeletons we have from this time period. The muscle attachments look like Olympic athletes. We even see healed fractures these people suffered from. The average person here kicked ass & could put up a good fight (mostly young people too).
This is SOOOOO good. Well done indeed. So informative - pulls so much information together all in one place and gives each element a good deep dive. I can't wait for the next episode. This series is really something special.
In the earliest part of the video, you showed the points, used, by the earliest people. Except for one, which looks very similar to one I have. I found it on the afternoon, before my scheduled cancer removal surgery. When I picked it up, I knew that someone was telling me, I would be okay. That was in 2013. I've still got it. Best fishing trip, ever.
Oooooh im sooo early! your documentaries are fantastic. May I recommend you someday touching on some topics about proto-languages, and how ancient humans first developed language?
Mammoth me. I watch a lot of your content. It’s interesting and relaxing. I also get a kick out of seeing some of the costumes in the skits. Great content. No question for now, only encouragement.
6:58 no this is not true. Nutrition in the Netherlands from traditional food is really good. It was every day: potato’s (most of the time mashed), greens/vegetables and some kind of meat (sausage or a cut of some sort: cow, pork etc..). Some of the best diets in the world for growing tall, that’s probably one of the reasons we’re so tall. I don’t know about the balkans though
Wanted to thank you for this content, I really enjoy watching and seeing the artifacts associated with the cultures, especially in this area of the world.

Thank you for all of the kind words!
@@NORTH02 You earned them.
I can’t believe #2 in this series came out so quickly. I’m obsessed
One of the best channels!Thank you for all the knowledge you share!Love the voice!Calm but not boring.
Always a good day when NORTH 02 uploads.
yes
Ive been working on a theroy for years trying to blend the understanding and historical knowledge/evidence of religion and science and honestly North 02 your work is some of the most helpfull for filling in holes in my theoretical studies. *hands over a gold star sticker* you're a star
Since I found you about a month ago I've watched every video you have made. Couldn't wait for the next one and I'm so excited to see one today 🎉
You need to binge North 02, it's a great ride!! 🫏
He kicks ass!
I watched the whole thing.. This is the kind of thing I watch instead of tv..Thank you for an entertaining and informative video..
You are easily one of my top five youtubers, your documentaries are never boring yet also more mature than many others'.
Usually documentary youtubers are either boring or immature, getting around both issues is truly outstanding.
Started with the solutrian video and I'm no going backwards. Just finished the gravettian and will now move on to your first part video. Thanks for investing so much to teach us about this
I follow your content since 5 years already, and not even one documentary was disappointing. Keep up the good work! I enjoy it allot
Mammoth meat
This was an amazing production. Thank you. Long form historical series are the equivalent of writing a book. So few creators use real narratives & images, depending on AI. This is gorgeous.
Perfect thing to listen to during a long drive
Mammoth Meat! You have some of the best prehistoric videos i've ever seen, both in presentation and amount of evidence given for every one of your talking points. Love your videos
Mom! I'm sick of eating Rhino, can I eat berries or vegetables?
No, finish your Rhino. Berries are dessert for children who finish their Rhino.😂
@@ShatteredZen But, mom, I just broke my tooth on a rhino bone in the meat!
You can't eat your berries till you eat your meat!
Yes, I did make it to the very end of the video documentary and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for all you work on these documentaries. Well done.
Thank you so much for these videos
This subject matter is so incredibly interesting to me. Thank you for making these videos. Could listen all day. Whoops I do. Repeat over and over. Keep recording
Mammoth meat! The dude who got buried with the giant tusk was definitely like don’t give my giant spear to anyone. Especially Greg. Bury me with it. They’ll find it eventually.
I am so thankful for these videos. These fascinating and factbased stories keepme sane in the wild world. Just subscribd and will binge-watch
Favorite channel number 1. Drinking coffee and watching early human history!😅
North 02 thank you for your work! It's an impeccable contribution to keeping our species aware of and connected to our prehistory ❤ I love these videos so much
Always a good day when @north02 content hits
Thank you for your hard work and well made video they are both informative and calming
Thank you, I am a fan of all your work. I am an old man and none of this was taught in my four years in college. Thanks and best wishes.
Wake up totally real girlfriend who I didn’t make up in my head, the new North 02 video is up!
I watch ALL your content to the end, North O❤! Some I've seen as many as 2 dozen times, and my favorites as many as 45/50 !!
I love your content. It's so easy to follow, and your voice is the most pleasant voice out there❤!! Thanks for your dedication to your vocation😊.
Very well done series, thank you
Can’t tell you how much I look forward to your uploads. Your video on the Clovis culture got me into flintknapping.
Thank you so much!
Another amazing documentary.
Thanks, i can feel the amount of effort and passion for the subject in your videos. The scenes you shoot yourself is incredibly immersive.
This has been my favorite channel in UA-cam for some years, im always looking forward your next work
Mammut kjøtt! Dette var en fantastisk dokumentar! Takk North02❤
I love your videos. I always try to fall asleep to your lovely voice but then I find the info too interesting and I stay awake the entire time. My favorite part is when you showed you were such a fan you had a knife made from this era. Thank you for your passion and hard work.
LETS GOOOO. i was just thinking this series is gonna be elite and then you dropped ‼️ legendary
What a wonderful, informative video. Will watch your others. Hokey, but I feel more spiritually connected to our Gravetian family.
Just made my morning!
Cheers Jeff
Mammoth Meet. Wonderful sir, more information in one place than you can get anywhere else. Glad I found your channel. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
This was a great video, I'm an Artifact authenticator from Oklahoma and I have more in my toolbox of knowledge, thank you.
Smarter than today people....for far
Thank you for your excellent documentaries.
Thank you so much! I am hard at work right now on the next episode about the solutrean culture!
@cernunnos_lives they were athletes, professional athletes at that.
This is SOOOOO good. Well done indeed. So informative - pulls so much information together all in one place and gives each element a good deep dive. I can't wait for the next episode. This series is really something special.
Morning coffee and great video 🎉
Your videos are awesome for my time in the gym! Paleolithic narration while getting gains!
Good morning from Copperhill Tn. 😊
Mammoth Meat. Don't worry about the length of your videos. Content is what matters! Love your stuff!!!
I get excited when N02 uploads. Even more so when I realize it's almost 2 hours long! Huzzah! Good day to eat mammoth meat!
Mammoth Meat. I really enjoy the content, nature of the commentary and quality you have been provinding us for years now.
Thank you!
Mammoth Meat, buddy. Really enjoyable documentary. :)
I have a sudden hankering for actual mammoth meat, now, though.
Mammoth me.
I watch a lot of your content. It’s interesting and relaxing. I also get a kick out of seeing some of the costumes in the skits. Great content. No question for now, only encouragement.
Heck yeah new video drop lets goooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
Incredible video. I’m learning so much from this series. Thank you!! I also loved your 3 hour Neanderthal video that preceded this series.
Balkans same thing
Wanted to thank you for this content, I really enjoy watching and seeing the artifacts associated with the cultures, especially in this area of the world.
I’m high as fuck thank you for this gem
😂 ✌️
Been waiting for this one. I really enjoy your work, thank you so much.
Mammoth Meat! Thanks for all the effort you put into these series. The professionalism is sublime, I always listen to the entire upload. I share them with my wife, kids and grand kids!!
WOW thank you so much for another banger. Your voice is soothing, your diction is great, and your content is intelligent, wholesome, and extremely well presented. You're a star. I have hope yet for youtube!! THANK YOU for not falling into tropes. Thank you for not using AI art!! Thank you for your hard work!! Subscribed!
Too many adds, I genuinely can't follow the video
I’ve been looking for a pattern just like Debbie’s top! Can’t wait to be able to get back in the shop.
Another great composition from NORTH 02! Thank you! =)
There was a point, where I had to fully stop coming onto your channel because I was just replaying videos 3-4 times 😂😂 you make great content brother, glad you’re much more active
Mammoth Meat! Great doc! I have watched most, I think, of your videos. They are all really good, very informative and well researched. I'm excited for the other 2 in the series to come out. Thank you and keep up the great content!
Okay.. mammoth meat ! lol .. I’ve listened to this one more than a few times already but couldn’t comment at the time.. lol
THANK YOU NORTH02!!
Your work is so appreciated, you’ve been doing a fantastic job and it just keeps getting better and better..
It really is appreciated, ATB
Mammoth Meat! Another great upload. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your work ❤
I really enjoy watching your work , excellent thank you.
Love the channel! It was a beautiful episode! I'm a descendant of the Magdalenian hunter gatherers, so keenly looking forward to that episode. Here are some mammoths 🦣🦣🦣
I can’t say enough how much I appreciate you gathering and presenting this information in such a professional way. I don’t know if I speak for everyone, but I would be interested in an in depth video about flint knapping. Maybe including some defining characteristics of different traditions throughout history.
Mammoth Meat. Great video, always a good day when you upload. You make some of the best content i have ever seen, love the attention to detail.
What a Mammoth, meaty documentary. Great info, great delivery. Love it, keep it up.
Great video. I have the I(1a) haplogroup also. Always interested in information about early Europeans.
