As an Vicar in Australia I quietly quit, heart broken but convinced I could not stand with a church leadership walking away from 2 thousand years of orthodox truth found in scripture. I wish you well, 2 years on it’s the best decision I ever made.

I am a member of the Church of England and the Church in England. I was Christened in 1954 and I can read the Scriptures and 39 Articles and BCP as well as any Bishop or Archbishop can. If the hierarchy is apostate then they have no more authority than I have. The High Priest is Jesus and He has my loyalty. Maranatha.

Agreed. Though some will accuse us of being 'legalistic' for standing on Sola Scriptura, and the 39 Articles, which shouldn't be changes, jot and tittle (as for the BCP, there is a fine line between right worship and religiosity, so I am somewhat ambiguous about it).
Anyway, if we are so accused, then they have pin that on the Triune G-d! I would think He'd have something to say about that.

Many real biblical christians are confused and they feel they have no place in that church. Now all conservative and classical christians should cooperate and make contacts and ecumenical relationships internationally. Perhaps we could start a new biblical league or union of congregations and have some short of a new body of Christ and the real church.

The uniformity of the great falling away proves it has been orchestrated for centuries from within. Wherever two or three are gathered together in His name, there are moles among them, like Judas. Messiah Jesus Christ always avoided crowds and seldom, if ever, spoke of a "church". And Peter most certainly is not the "rock" (Deut 32.31), only Messiah is the true rock and cornerstone. (Isaiah 28.16 etc) Messiah came to the individual as he was, ready to receive Him. So it is today. To be a true Christian you must take up your cross and follow only Him.

Pastoral Evangelist I "retired" in late 2021 but am very active in my new local church and am seeking to help people I meet to find Jesus. I have PTO in two dioceses as I live on the border, both with orthodox bishops. What we need to remember is that we must care for the people in our charge and not abandon them; let the hierarchy try and force us out rather than us quit. THEY are the ones at fault; THEY chose a course of action to divide the House of bishops, to divide synod, to divide parishes. As John Dunnett said, "they've thrown a grenade into every parish." So do we run away or take our stand? those bishops who are pursuing heresy will find it blowing up in their faces in the end. Jesus will build His church. Yes Rev Dan, there's lots of us who have little respect for erring bishops: Many years ago I said that my bishop always fulfils my expectations. I expect nothing. So found support and help via others, which helped me prosper in ministry and blessed the people. Bishops frankly are pretty irrelevant to the local church - I've been in parishes where they don't even know who the bishop is... But we are called to preach the gospel, in season and out of season: I've preached to more than 500 people in the last 8 weeks, probably 90% non churchgoers, at funerals, and some are starting to ask the questions of life. Handing in my PTO would leave them to the secular celebrants. So let's walk with The Lord while we can. Luther in the 1500s faced a monolithic monster in the then RC church; yet the Reformation swept the continent because when God is on the move no human being can stop Him. I'm praying for revival in our land, which comes through you and me, and it will leave the heretics high and dry....

As a pastor I understand what your saying but it’s so very hard to overcome leadership when they are basically backslid , I think the best course of action is to address the concerns of the leadership to your congregation and then turn in your credentials and start another work that aligns with the scriptures, you will have a core of believers with you and the financial support you are going to need to keep the work going , gather with you other pastors who are the same as you and just begin again

Things often take time to change in people,,and G-d's longsuffering is great, but cups of sin will overflow, as Sodom and Gomorrah discovered, despite being given time to change.
Stay, or step, out of His Grace, and one will walk slap-bang into the Law and it's expectations - and demands for breaking it. Paul breaks it down in Romans 1-11.
But we have the Holy Spirit to help us change from glory to glory to become more like Jesus, *not Him become more like us or the World!* To try and shape Him to *our* image is simply wrong.
As Jeremiah was taught, the clay cannot tell the potter what it will be, and G-d, the Potter, doesn't make mistakes, no matter what.
Even cracked pots, like me, can let His light shine out.

It is not in the earliest manuscripts we have but only appeared in later ones, no doubt added by someone who heard the "story" and found it rather nice and something Jesus might well say and do. However, regardless of the nice message it portrays, it was not penned by John. Research what I've said, you'll find it to be true.

After he came to Christ, he didn't. He repented and changed.
The John 8:1-11 is included in the text. Take it or leave it, but 'spurious'? It may have been 'added in' later as by someone as a 'nice story', but there it is. And why only in John? Do you think it's a gnosticism? If so, then why was it added?
If one agrees that the Holy Spirit is the final arbiter of Scripture, wouldn't one accept that it might be in the later manuscripts for a purpose?
After all, an adulterous woman, especially, would just as equally been dragged off to be stoned to death by those Pharisees and any other sinner who was 'caught in the act', according to the Law, but she wasn't. You know the story and the outcome.
Would you rather it be totally disregarded and left out altogether? Still, as I say, it's not me you need to convince in the end, is it? Shalom.

The original King James version has many spurious verses which have been added later, often to back up a non-scriptural idea which suited the person adding it. Fortunately today, many Bible versions are omitting these dubious verses, including the passage from John 7:53 to 8:11.

It must be extremely difficult to be a Church of England Priest in a Church which is becoming increasingly apostate and arguably unchristian.
I left the CofE last year having been baptized into the Scottish Episcopalian Church as a child 50 years ago.
I didn't leave the Church, my Christianity hasn't changed... the Church left me. The politicization, the assault on traditional values, the persecution of conservatives within the Church. The appointment of Bishops who have never been parish priests.
There are no GAFCON congregations near me or FCoE, I live in rural Northumberland. Fortunately Northumberland has an indigenous and ancient Catholic community which survived the tribulations of the last 500 years, so I became a Roman Catholic.
Now, the Roman Church is not without its challenges at the moment BUT the existence of the Magisterium makes it very difficult for the Vatican to make the sort of changes Welby does, which appear to mirror whatever The Guardian's pet project is at the time.

The Magisterium, of which there is no equivalent, in the Anglican Church, means it is very very difficult for a Pope to change things and certainly not quickly. Out of all the western Churches, the Catholic one is the best protected against wokeism, even if we have a socialist Pope, due to the structure of its governance. The big question will come at the next Conclave.

Even so, how long can we stay in a church whose leadership, from the Archbishops downwards is, institutionally, leading us into grave error without any scriptural justification? The contortions the House of Bishops has been going through to promote same-sex marriage whilst pretending that it does not impact on the teaching on Holy Matrimony is indicative of a leadership that has lost its way. We shouldn't feel the need to be loyal to some brick and mortar building, or denomination just because it's close to our hearts and has sentimental value. Instead, our loyalty should be towards our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus not CofE. Because He is eternal, our local parish isn't.

Many of us as Catholics cannot square this blessing on request for those in this type union, (we cannot call it marriage, it is not)
As you have mentioned: biblically it is clear these unions are not justified nor permitted . At the end of Mass there is a general blessing of congregant's, no one knows what moral state we are in.
Having two family members who are priest, I would say to you do not leave, just say to those who request a blessing: " go to Mass, we do the blessings at the end of mass".
Your ending "Quietly Quitting The Church of England" don't do what Catholics bishops did in England at the the time of king Henry VIII.

Looking from the outside, I have to say that if the bishops truly wanted to care for those who cannot go along with LLF they could have done so by now. I think that having not got anywhere so far is telling. Is it possible they are hoping you will get weary and give up? Whatever the situation, the time is coming when folk will have to decide. If you look into the scriptures you will see there is no hierachy in Christianity. We have one head of the Congregation, Jesus Christ. He said that there is but one Teacher, the rest of us are all brothers. Always remember: _There is no heirachy in the Christian congregations!_ Sure, there are brothers who take the lead (no females) but they follow scriptural direction, not their own personal thoughts.

what i think its interesting here... and I've said this to others before, is that when CoE priests go out in their collars, when people see them in cafes etc, this uniform invites conversation and is a very useful tool of outreach that doesn't require a whole lot of prep. I say this because my Anglican ministers wear "normal" clothes all the time, and I cant help but think that if they wore their collars at the petrol station and the coffee shop (and at church!) this would be a very important witness to the world.

The day after my mum died, my wife dragged me to the church she had just started to attend. I was an atheist at the time and she didn't want me to be at home alone; I didn't want to go but went because she insisted! During the whole service I was saying things to myself about the guy leading the service. They weren't good things as you could imagine! After the service, my wife brought the vicar over to introduce him to me. The vicar wasn't the same guy leading the service. I was hating on the wrong guy, all because the vicar didn't wear a dog collar! That was an important lesson to me, long before I became a vicar myself!

@DavidMartin-ym2e @monoingles @HenryLeslieGraham I can say, as a curate I was expected to create some new form of ministry and mission during my curacy. I came up with Local Pub Ministry! Both myself and the other curate would head down to the pubs in town, twice a week, wearing our collars but with 'ordinary' clothes, walk in and order a couple of drinks. Before I became a Christian I was a pagan and used to drinking in pubs! We would sit down and it wouldn't be long before people would come and chat to us. Surprisingly, perhaps, no one was abusive. It was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding forms of ministry. People sometimes even offered to buy us a drink. I remember one chap who was drowning his sorrows after losing his wife and whose funeral we had taken the week before. He was so glad to see us and we managed to have a good chat with him and we kept in touch. If we had not been there, this would not have happened. It is an area of ministry that I still try and engage with. I will always wear my collar when visiting cafes, pubs, clubs, etc, because as you say, people like to see that and they will often ask for prayers or a blessing - simply because we are there and available and appear normal!

Our last village Church is doing the resigned but still operating within the CofE thing. We are worshipping and members now returned to the town by moving closer after 18 months out (back in the village after 11 years worshipping in the town). We go because our family are worshipping there but know that sadly it cannot last and are members of our previous small group but members at arm's length because sooner or later we will have to leave the CofE. We are disgusted that the majority of the Bishops have chosen to go with the (unbiblical) pastoral decision, rejecting the Biblical truth and deeply and disastrously dividing the Church.

I have found the Reformed Presbyterian church to be the closest to following the Bible amongst many I tried out, & have been so happy with their doctrine & preaching. I was brought up in the Free Evangelical church in England, then when in Australia we went to Baptist churches. As a teen I left the church, but God was faithful & brought me back in my early 30’s. I went to Pentecostal/Charismatic churches for a while, but found too much false teachings in them, & never agreed with the ‘prosperity gospel’. God miraculously led me to a Presbyterian minister, who confirmed all that I’d been reading in many books I felt God had led me to read. I only wanted the TRUTH. I prayed & begged God to lead me to ONLY the truth, over & over again. I did not want to be deceived. That was my heart’s desire - only His truth. Years later, I still feel the Reformed Presbyterian church is as close as we’ll get here on earth. No church is perfect because we’re all sinners in a fallen world. However, I know I have found my earthly spiritual church here & the teaching is so solid, biblical, & not watered down. I praise my Lord Jesus Christ. 💙🙏✝️🇬🇧🇦🇺
