Same here. Burst into laughter.

Thanks to everyone for the positive response to our hot tent video! I'll be doing a more thorough and detailed review of the Luxe Minipeak XL once I put some more miles on it. So far, I'm loving this tent and I'm very happy with my purchase!
I get very stoked when I see a notification that a new Brant and Garvey has dropped!
Never disappointing!

Luxe Rules
Well, just received my Minipeak XL today and will be sleeping in it tonight ! Ah, it’s only 23 degrees, very exciting to get this tent, gotta work on a stove now ! Was considered making one, but who’s kidding who most likely I will try and decide on buying one. You were a great influence in me getting this tent! Thanks man !
Nice! I hope that you like your tent as much as I like mine. I see that you've dropped a new vid as well. Happy camping!
@@BrantHikes Thanks again man !
Love the stove.🙂👍
Thank you!
When it gets down to -30 to -40, trust me, it is a good idea to have the stove running all night and feed it every 2 hours. With a carbon monoxide detector of course
Thankfully, it will never get that cold where I live, but my sleeping bag is comfortable to about -20°F...I've since bought a stove with a larger firebox and I can burn larger logs which means that I usually still have embers in the morning. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!👊
Hi mate I alway garden test new equipment like you said just incase something goes wrong,
Nice video new subscribers
HAPPY 2020 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I pulled the trigger and ordered my minipeak xl today ! Got the winter inner and adjustable pole as well ! PUMPED ! -20 bag is no joke ...personwich HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm with you man ! I do enjoy a good sloppy joe . I dig your stove man I really do ! Very cool I have the same egg crate ! For real ! I bring eggs out into the backcountry all the time ! MMMMMMMMM eggs ! I as well enjoy testing gear in the weather . I'm editing a video right now of my lanshan 1pro in the pouring rain , 33 degree temps ... BRILLIANT using the hole saw drop for the damper ! Bravo . Well done . The glass window is going to be awesome . Great way to put 8lbs into perspective . I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY TENT . I have a titanium stove pipe too, and that thing gets ripping red hot about 4' up when it;s really going . I really enjoyed this video . Congrats on 200 videos ! Thats awesome ,,,,,that's cranking them out man . You do have a lot of content for me to try and catch up on . Thank you for this review and video - Justin
Thanks Justin! I don't think you'll regret your decision to get that tent. The insert looks awesome too. I thought about getting one and I still might. I'll be interested to see what you think about it. Looking forward to videos of your Winter adventures!
I like to see your dog with you, he seems to enjoy it!
Super mooie Woodstove
Thank you!
Nice tent- I have same-test days next weeks🏕👍 and stove take later. Great video 🤝
Thank you! I hope that you'll make a video of your test.
200 videos in 2 years makes for a busy person ☺ nice setup you have.
Cool
I glue kitchen foil around the area the chimney is close to the canvas, or in fact nearly all the canvas, but heat is held between the inner and outer layers of the tent, which that tent doesn’t have.
Brant, next time you go out with that setup, bring some sections of aluminum rain gutter that can be cut and nested for carrying and overlapped at a slight pitch under one wall of the tent for water collection. There are probably lighter options. I just wanted to get the idea out there for consideration. Loved the video. Good job on the stove as well. Garvey was very nice to let you play with your camera 😉. Thanks. 👍
I am thinking about buying that tent for some days now. You have nearly convinced me 😄. Very nice and peaceful there with your dog. 👍 Have a good time and God bless you.
@German Hiker- Thanks for watching! I'm very happy with my tent so far. I have other recent videos that feature my hot tent if that helps:

Reminds me of the meccano set we had as kids but you can build actual cool stuff with it! Hugs to Garvey, y’all are all set to hang out and wait for santa. 👍🏻
When I was putting those tiny nuts and bolts together I was thinking about the Erector set that I had as a kid. I never liked that thing! I was way more into Lincoln Logs
Brant & Garvey ah yes, I think they were called Erector sets in the states! I’m a lego/ old fashioned wooden block person myself...
Loved the video and love sloppy joes! Thanks for sharing B&G!
Thanks ER! I hope all is good in your neck of the woods
Anyone else see the face with a hat and sunglasses on the bottom of the tree at the 23:26 mark? lol. Great video man thanks for sharing.
The shadow people are hiding in plain sight! Thanks for watching and commenting!
looked like a very relaxing good time.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your videos- l found the information on your channel to be very helpful in the planning and building of my stove!
@@BrantHikes Looks like you did an awesome job on the stove.
@@Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival Thanks, the stove works very well, but it's a wood hog and a bit heavier and smaller than I prefer. Recently I've been using the Pomoly Timber- which I can feed larger pieces of wood less frequently.
@@BrantHikes I am a definitely fan of having the biggest stove that is practical for any particular purpose. Bigger stoves require a lot less work overall. However just about all of my transportation is by machine of some sort.
I wake up every 2 hours no matter what anyway and i would probably burn all night regardless of safety lol
This video is two years old. I now have a new stove which allows larger logs and I usually let it burn all night now. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👊⛺🔥
Super cool setup !
Thanks, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far!
Greetings from moroco 🇲🇦 good Luck ♥️♥️🌷
Gotta love it man! Awesome stuff there!!
Great video. Love winter camping and have been scoping out these types of hot tents. Thanks so much for taking us along. Cheers.
Thanks! After using a hot tent, I don't think I could go back to Winter camping without one!
Subscribed off the back of the Manichaeism comment- Top chap 👍🏻
Thank you
Really nice job building the ammo can stove, I’m afraid to ask how much your mont bell bag cost, looks warm, your probably still kicking yourself for getting it to close to the stove, you seem handy, just gonna have to repair it, good luck
What a fantastic video. Sweet set up!
Thanks for sharing. And, thanks for many of your past videos.
Thanks, Mark! And thanks for watching!
This was cool to watch! Love your setup! Looks very comfy and enjoyable year round! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Glad that you enjoyed it! 👊
Thank you so much for the hospitality in the woods. Happy 200 is a special milestone, well done. I was just wondering what was your overall carry weight on this trip?
That’s an awesome set up. That stove pipe is pretty amazing how it packs down. Garvey was having fun in the snow. Congratulations on #200.
Thanks Betsy! We both had a fun time
Love the home-made ammo stove!
Thank you!
Thanks guy. I just came across your channel looking for videos on the Minipeak XL since I just bought one and wanted to see a genuine review. I have the Luxe Megahorn in white, but its like 8.9 lbs. I use the Gstove with that Tipi shelter and haul it with the pulk sled. The Minipeak XL is more for an ultralight winter set up. I'll use my LiteOutdoors titanium stove or the Luxe 3w titanium stove I just got. I like your ammo can stove, but it's heavy. I build and weld stoves (mostly stainless) so I'm faced with the same weight issue. I'm in Canada near the Rocky Mountains so I can't even get titanium hear. Unless I order it on Alibaba or somewhere. Anyway, I can talk gear all day long. Thanks for the vid. I subscribed and look forward to your next one. Cheers
Thanks for watching! I hope my video was helpful. I'll do an actual review on my tent once I put some miles on it. Those titanium stoves that you mentioned are all nice. I almost got a 3W but I wanted something that I didn't have to assemble. Yeah, my stove is heavy but I don't really mind. Going ultra-heavy in the Winter helps keep the fat off me!
I just ordered one of these tents, I can’t get over the room inside it
I've been very happy with mine
Great tent and stove! The chimney surprised me the way it rolled up. Congratulations on 200 videos! I need to try to make some time to go back and watch them all from the beginning. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for all of your comments over the last couple of years, Lyn!
That’s a really nice setup Brant. Looks like a lot of fun camping with the ability to have heat and cooking inside your tent. Congrats on 200 videos.
Thanks, Jeff! It has been a lot of fun so far!
Very cool!! Nice that ya had some snow, perfect!!
Thanks! The snow was nice!
Thanks for the video! We're taking ours out this weekend and it's going to get cold! Just the way we like it!
Thanks, Scott! I hope that you have a great time this weekend
Nice job on the stove and that stove pipe is ingenious. Good tip on pegging the stove with tent stakes. Congrats on 200 vids! I don't recall one in the snow. Thanks B&G ( My bad, how could I forget south of Waynesboro tenting next to the privy and out of Buena Vista.)
Thanks Keith! Yeah, sleeping next to that privy was nuts. That was the first of four snowstorms that we had on that trip.
Great video, thank You
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
those spoons are light but do break pretty easily, as part of my cooking kit and I count it towards my 'morale' gear I have just a regular old stainless steel fork, spoon and knife from my kitchen, good video, I want to build me one of those stoves and have thought about getting one of those tents from luxe,
Funny, I packed the orange spoon last minute as a back up. When I got to camp, I realized that I left my main spoon at home! I like the term 'moral gear'- for me, it's my stove. I've added a window to the stove door since this video and I enjoy watching the flames as much as I like the heat that they produce. It's been a lot of fun hot tenting so far! Thanks for taking the time to watch and thanks for commenting!
Great video. I have the Luxe Mini Peak 2. Luxe makes some great products.
Thanks! From what I've experienced from Luxe so far, I agree.
You should surround your fire with stone because it retains the heat. I’m surprised those hot tents aren’t designed to hold heat, it just means a hole that doesn’t catch fire for your chimney? Which you could do yourself with kitchen foil.
I'm not sure that I could handle much more heat retention, Stuart! It was so hot inside, that I had to keep the door open most of the time. Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!
watching...........
Great video, lot of great info. Your breakfast made me hungry. LOL
Thanks, Dad! Breakfast is good anytime of day!
Nice review! I am planning to buy the same tent but been worried the nylon fabric would melt during high indoor temperatures.
Wood stoves will get the tent so hot you either sweat, or have to keep the door wide open or both. I suppose the remedy is to have two doors, one at each end
Nice video man! Garvey looks like he loves cold weather. Congratulations on your 200th video. I'll be thru-hiking the AT in 2020. Start date is February 29th. I'll stop by the store and say hello when I pass through Damascus.
Thanks! We look forward to seeing you in Damascus
@@BrantHikes Thanks man. I'm quitting my job a 23 years to hike the trail. Maybe you guys will have a job opening I can apply for when I finish the trail.
Have not ventured into a hot tent yet during the winter. I use the BA Fly Creek UL1 and it would not be a good idea to lite anything in my small tent. Saw your message on FB and just subbed to your channel! Cheers!
Nice set up for sure! I have the luxe Megahorn with a homemade ammo stove as well. I have a short video of it. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Chuck! The Megahorn is sweet. I'll check out your video for sure!
interesting set up...and amazing scenery!
Thanks for watching!
That was fun. Thanks and Merry Christmas
Thanks Carole, Merry Christmas to you!
Awesome from African
Awesome set up you have there!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
That is super cool!
Thanks! I'm liking it a lot. Now instead of dreading Winter weather, I'm looking forward to it!
always a pleasure to see one of your vids, thanks for posting :)
Always a pleasure to see your comments! Thanks for continuing to watch
I love your videos
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Nancy!
Enjoyable video.

What if it was renamed to meat sauce or sloppy trots?
cool adventure...👍
I subscribed to your channel today and I’m enjoying watching your videos. Best, Freewalker
Thanks! I'm subbed to your channel as well and I look forward to following your AT hike
Personwhich hahaha. Looking warm.
It was very warm for sure! Thanks for watching
Great video.Enjoyed it very much.Look forward for more.....ATB:Soren
Awesome set up and I thought my duomid was huge at 5.5x9 and now that’s a good time for sure and congrats on 200 haven’t been fallowing from the start but think it was when u went from harpers ferry al the way back home
You've been watching for a while then, thanks! That Duomid is perfect for a long hike
Brant & Garvey ya it been a little while lol it’s a awesome set up and it’s what I’m taking with me on my LASH from Perisburg to springer then the BMT Next year
I'll be following your hike for sure!
Just subbed... Great content.. Im looking to do this exact same thing next year and document it on my UA-cam channel as well. Keep up the great work and congratulations on your 200 video I stayed around to watch it all
Thanks for watching, subscribing and commenting! Hot tenting is a lot of fun, I highly recommend it!
The one thing I don't like about that tent is how open it is at the bottom.
I can see that being a deal breaker for a lot of people. There are hot tents that come with floors for those who prefer them. In my case, with a wet, muddy dog and constantly bringing firewood inside, it works out well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video good job . Question could you use a stanles steel roll for chimney much cheaper but would they roll up as easy . Thanks
Not sure if the stainless would hold its shape after being heated like the titanium does. Might be worth trying if you're not opposed to the extra weight. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Congrats on the 200!!!
Excellent video!
Thanks for watching, Jason!
200 congrats and thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Just found your channel. Was suggested in my video feed. Love that you take your dog out with. I bring my Malamute on every trip I can. Been looking into Luxe Gear for a winter camping setup. Where I winter camp it can easily get 10 below zero on winter nights. Do you feel that tent with enough wood could keep you comfortable? Trying to get the fiance into winter camping has been a struggle and I've accepted the fact that it will require a hot tent. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
It's a great tent for one person and a dog, but if I had someone else along, I would want a bigger tent. My tent stays warm, but I would definitely bring a good sleeping bag because it's tough to keep such a small stove burning all night.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Do you wish you would have got the snow skirts on the tent?
This model is not available with snow skirts, but I can pitch it pretty low to the ground if needed. Hasn't been an issue so far. Thanks for watching!
Your right I just checked and I had to be thinking of the octopeak.
new subscribers 👍
Thanks for subscribing! I look forward to watching your videos as well.
Great video brother I just subscribed
Thank you!
Congrats on 200
Thank you!
Do you think the Minipeak XL would be big enough for two guys plus a stove?
I would not recommend two people with a stove. Without a stove, it would be fine. Thanks for watching!
Hi Im new here to your channel.I love to camp, but hate being cold while camping.Hiw do I get one of your camping wood stoves.
Cool video and channel buddy...love the content! All signed up :-). Have a good one!
Thank you!
No worries! Welcome to visit our channel anytime
How come there is such a big gap at the bottom????
👍
Nice vid, thumbs up!! Wich brand is that stovepipe, or how do you call it en where did you get it??? Really awesome!!
Thanks! I bought the stove pipe from Seek Outside: seekoutside.com/
Any issues with water from rain on bottom of tent where it meets your floor
No issues, but site selection is really important in avoiding this.
Great setup. Where did you order your glass from?
Thanks. I got the mica here:
www.woodstove-fireplaceglass.com/Mica-glass.html
Thanks! I did not realize this stuff existed.
Great stuff man! Subbed.
Thanks, I just subbed ya back and I'll be checking out your vids for sure!
Nice setup! Did you experience any condensation during your nights in the Minipeak XL? Was it raining during your trip and if so was the tent totally rainproof? (btw, seen Wawhikers channel? Similar dog (?) and interest (hot-tening) :) )
No condensation. I had the vents open with plenty of airflow. There was freezing rain that turned to snow. The tent comes partially seam-sealed and Luxe reccomends sealing a few of the seams (which I did not do) but I still didn't get any leaks. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great, thanks! I've read that to get truly waterproof/rainproof the fabric should have a hydrostatic head rating of 2000mm, while I notice the 68D Polyester Ripstop in Minipeak's outer tent is rated "only" at 1500mm. Thus why I am asking someone who have had some real life experience with it. So thanks for that! :)
Awesome setup! New sub
Thank you!
I liked the video. Going to Sub. Nice DYI stove.
Thanks Walker! I've been watching your channel for a couple of years now and I'll have to say that your videos are what got me interested in hot tenting. Now, I can't imagine Winter camping any other way!
@@BrantHikes Thanks brother. I agree. Once someone winter camps in a hot tent there is no going back.
