Really, if I don't like a video, I move on to the next one. If I really want to make a statement, I push the thumbs down. I don't understand why people waste so much energy being negative. I mean life is so much more enjoyable if you focus on the good and beautiful

@@TheEllaTB constructive critique is helpful. Like if somebody mentiones that every time he wears a striped shirt the picture jitters, the person in front of the camera can chose another outfit.
Imagine you make amazing content and people don't consume it, because the jittering goes so much on their nerve and nobody tells you.
I stopped going to my physics lessons because the room had echos. It gave me a headache. The professor was great, the topic was great, but the room sucked so much that I prefered to stay absent.
Making a critique about stuff that can be easily changed can be very helpful.
But I guess, it is an American thing.
We Germans like to give and receive critique.

I totally agree: the calm voice is nice! It's nice to relax to. Also, it helps those people who are learning English as a second language.
I know of listeners who prefer fast talkers. Instead of telling the UA-cam video maker to speak faster, those listeners just go into the controls and change the video to run at a faster speed.

  • @paulacano4971

On “speaking slow”, I appreciate this because I can share with my dad who is learning to speak English, and he really likes that you speak with enough pause that he can learn and understand. So, thanks for that.

    • @solidstate9451
      @solidstate9451 Рік тому +3

He has the typical way of talking like some priests have.
If you speak more slow, make longer breaks, it sounds more meaningful.
I mean, the only tool a priest has is his voice.
It must be trained and it has to sound wise and beyond.
A priest has to convince his followers just with his voice that in the end everything will be fine without having any proof.
Usually you need training for it and when you believe in what you say, you will be more convincing, too.
They are the ones who talk about love and giving, and being nice, etc.
And then there is the other kind of priest who always talks as if somebody just destroyed his 2000 piece of puzzle he had nearly solved.
They talk about sin and judgement and annihilation.
In my opinion the last mentioned are usually the ones who don't believe in God but use the faith of other people to gain money, status and power.
I'm glad the priest in my youth was of the first sort.

I once saw a guideline for a good zoom-call and they said if you sit to near in front of your camera some people consider this creepy, because it gives you the feeling that the virtual person is invading your personal space. Since different people have different big zones of personal space, people can see this different. I don't care, but I even don't care if a stranger sits next to me in an otherwise empty bus.

You know, this makes me feel better about the comments I get! 😆 The “not being judgmental” comments are the worst. I like the pace of your videos- I love your content.

I love your videos, the message is always clear, the content is great, your tone is good and the clarity you provide is mature and serious but most people on UA-cam prefer animations and pop up information to keep the viewer engaged - it appears you're a true minimalist in that sense too - you put enough to sustain a decent count of subscribers. It's inspiring and I've happily forwarded your videos to my friends n family!

From your wife's reaction, I'm assuming you knew that lit was a good thing and just wanted to get that comment in there. 😂🙌 I love when people joke about rude comments. It's the best thing you can do with them. Your content has made my life better. Thank you for starting your blog all those years ago. 👍

Josh - LOVE your channel. I am now embracing minimalism in my life. Thank you! As for the negative comments, I've received alot of hate on UA-cam also...Most of the time, it's just people who are angry at life...and it really is not about you. I've learned to develop a thick-skin and just move on...You have way more fans than enemies here at UA-cam! Thank you to you and your wife for being part of my inspiration to move forward in my life. Blessings!

I am laughing so much ( hair comments). I think your delivery is good. As a former pastor, you have a certain tone and vibe. A vibe that is lit ( lol). Keep up the good work!!! I purchased The More of Less.

Wow, I'm so shocked by the unkind comments. I am reminded of the anonymous feedback that I receive as an assistant professor. Posting anonymously can bring out the worst in people. Personally, I am grateful that you make the effort to produce such helpful videos. Thank you so much!

Negative comments are part of the deal unfortunately. I've learned to get excited when my videos get them. My subscribers would never write them, so when hater comments start rolling in, I know my video is being suggested to new people and helping my channel to grow 😊 Shake it off and enjoy the many wonderful comments instead!

Wow! Well, at least you had fun with the negative comments. I enjoy your videos. I learn something with each one. I read your book and it was helpful. I have been decluttering for 5 years. I'm still at it. Being mindful of what comes into our home. I review drawers, closets, cupboards, etc because there is always something that can be let go.

As for talking slowly and your tone and delivery...what I love about your videos is the echo in your home! What a benchmark 👍🏼☺️. I also feel that your thoughts are so clear and your communication as well - because you are focussing on the important message and not being distracted by what is not important. And gosh, I think this actually is what its all about. You are a born communicator, hair and all.

Haha. So enjoyed your take on all the negativity! Our society thinks everyone cares what they think.....especially if it’s critical! Lots of unhappy people in this world....just keep being you! I find you very inspiring and my hubby AND I would love to have your hair!!!!😊

No negative comment from me! I’ve been watching for awhile now and love your speaking style. It is not ‘cluttered’ but covers the key points precisely. I’m a public speaker and have studied public speaking for years and more UA-camr’s could learn by your example. Keep up the good work!

I have found so much enjoyment watching your videos. I play them so my husband can “overhear you” 🤗 If it was up to me we would not have one thing left in our house😂
You don’t sound like a minister by the way, you sound like a spiritual man and the world needs more like you.
👍👍 from one UA-camr to another!

OH MY LOL THESE MADE ME LAUGH HAHAHA. On a serious note, i binge watched your UA-cam and decluttered my entire home I feel like a weight has been lifted, and because I have more quality time I sit by the kitchen window and love to watch the wildlife in my garden. The free things in life REALLY ARE THE BEST! Thank you Josh, You changed my life in so many positive ways :)

I'm not sure why people feel the need to comment on others looks. Why does it matter? Shouldn't we celebrate being individuals?
Regarding speaking slowly, I actually appreciate that in your videos. It sets you apart and provides a different style. I say keep being you, unapologetically.

Hey! Part of the peace I'm getting from starting minimalism is YOU, Joshua. Your calm, peaceful, slow delivery, and specifically slow delivery so we'll understand is just perfect. People want a fast talker? There are lots of snake-oil salesmen out there who talk really fast. They are always selling more STUFF!!! So keep doing what you are doing. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration, materially, and spiritually.
