    Great tutorial. One tip I've heard of in the past is to always loosen the fill bolt first (don't remove it) before the drain bolt. That way if you find that you somehow cannot loosen the bolt, you're not stuck with a differential that's free of fluid.

    Good diy vid. Think I would remove the fill plug before the drain plug, to make sure it isn't frozen.

    My fill and drain plugs were so tight that even with a 18" breaker bar, I couldn't shift them, and cracked a rib, trying. In the end I used my 18v Makita impact wrench, which had them off in no time. They really are tight, and if you're working underneath a jacked-up car, ne sure it's well supported.

    Tip...just put teflon tape on threads. Even if crush washer is reused wont leak and also prevents steel to aluminum corrosion bonding for next time easy removal.

    Sir i own 2003 Honda CRV Manual Tranny, im not sure if it has rear or front Diff. Fluid Too?🤔 Please Help 🙏 Thanks...

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Рік тому +2

      front diff is built into the transmission, it shares fluid with the transmission. If it is AWD, it will have a rear diff as shown in the video.

    How to change the manual transmision fluid on this same vehicle..?

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Рік тому +2

      Funny enough I just did this today, on this exact crv. Drain bolt is on driver bottom of trans, it requires a 3/8 drive rachet. I just remove the reverse sensor on top of the trans. It's a 27mm and refill 3quarts mtf with a funnel through that hole. Reinstall reverse sensor and you're ready to go

    Thanks for the info. My 04 crv has had this loud humming sound when I drive it and it's coming from what sounds like the rear diff I'm assuming. I have never changed the fluid on that since I've owned it. Have you ever encountered that problem before? The loud humming sound with moving?

    • @michaelwilson2891
      @michaelwilson2891 Рік тому +1

      Since it's cheap enough, I would start with the rear differential fluid change. A common "first" symptom of your fluid going bad is that you'll hear a humming sound in the rear when the car is in reverse and you're turning at an extreme angle (left or right - doesn't matter).

    • @bjornironforged9951
      @bjornironforged9951 Рік тому +1

      @@michaelwilson2891 I did that and changed the fluid but there was still no difference in the noise. I ended up getting the hub and bearing but haven't put it in yet. I'll lyk how that goes.

    What gets me about this is that the 2nd gen rear diff is basically redundant. All that expense for a part that is rarely, if ever used, as the car is mostly front-wheel drive. Anyone ever seen their rear diff 'engage'?
