How TMS Works: A Step-by-Step Explanation of How Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treats Depression

- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a lasting treatment for depression that uses non-invasive magnetic pulses to stimulate the mood center of the brain. TMS has been FDA-approved since 2008, and has consistently been shown to help patients with treatment-resistant depression who have not found relief from their symptoms with other therapies (such as antidepressant medications or psychotherapy). We perform TMS at our center in New York City (NYC).

I had it done and it was great, it really help me
2:15 I am in week 3 of TMS Therapy currently and no, it is not completely painless.
Do you feel better?
I'm starting to, I think? I have a couple weeks of treatments to go, and they say many have to go through the whole thing before seeing improvements. It definitely got worse before it got better. And obviously I was feeling fairly irritable when I wrote tge previous comment 🙃 You do gradually feel less discomfort btw, it just seemed disingenuous to say "no pain"
@@KMStatsData how did it go? It's my last thing I'm going to try
@@Mannsy83 I definitely feel better than when I started, not as good as pre-depression but I'm glad I did it. Good luck on your journey 💜
This 3 year month6 paralisis patient use or no please told me
I live in Iraq ,I have depression hardly ,may you give me some idea (how to get that treatment )
Mine is no where near that long mine lasts about 2-3 minutes and is not painless. It is uncomfortable, I wouldn’t say it’s agonizing but it feels like an uncontrollable muscle twitch almost like a mini cramp in your head. But it’s been my second session and I’m starting to feel clear headed
I doubt you're going to see results from a few minutes. Where are you having it done?
@@liamc7097 He’s probably getting intermittent theta burst which is 3 mins per session and tends to be more painful.
Definatley not a spa treatment but I wouldnt say painful either. However when I had treatment we were able to do a remapping and that reduced the MT% the strength and then it was much more comfortable. Also I took an over the counter anelgesic which also helped (no caffeine). Dehyration also made it much more uncomfortable in my experience.
Can this help with memory issues?
More so with brain function, brian fog, in my expeirence. But its not yet approved for memory care. but I know there are studies being done.
