It always gets me when people forget all that salt blowing in from the ocean in California and rusting out the cars. I’ve saw a bunch of rust buckets from there.
Lord Glenn, it's nice to see Bea again but I've got to say that I'm really excited about your newest plans for the chassis. I'm looking forward to seeing the new developments. Thanks for the video.
Glad to see you found a body for the us chassis . sorry I didn't have wood idea for a body. But I think the wagon turned into a pickup is a great idea lots of work but I don't think anybody has said you are afraid of work.sorry I haven't been to excited about the go carts been busy but its been awhile lot to do about nothing.I try to make time if nothing else it well help some I understand money being tight.
I’m in Los Angeles , my girlfriends family has had a 1979 Toyota truck since new. Massive rot on the top of the cab, roof corners , door tops, cowl, yet the floors and bed are perfect. Stuff can rust weirdly here due to the ocean and it I think car covers are terrible for cars here
Excellent video Glenn :) , Bee :) also she gots super 👌 humor to and nice Volkswagen wagon car ! I have seen those cars in years and nice find ! Also Bee if were hitchhiking for ride in my area and pick you up Lol and not kidding too!
@@DuckmanCycles I have spent several hours going through old magazines. Have not found what I am looking for. Yes it was a square back. Made into mini truck. Funny to look at ,at first but really cool .
@@DuckmanCycles you bet buddy always a pleasure to watch your blogs and love it when respond back on my comments someday I’ll make in your area to meet you or even maybe time it right to go to one of the groups tech sessions and have some pizza
Like my old chop top 😅 I converted my square into a truck. Lol that was in 1989.. lol. That's the reason why I miss it.. I will build another one. I have a line on a 1968 Squareback. Gonna go a little more wild on this one.. lol
Look forward to seeing what you do for CV joints . I've raised my Bay window van about as far as I can with stock CV,'s and like your out of the box thinking with modifying parts using the VW parts bin
Thanks man! I'm not exactly sure what to do with those CV joints just yet... the angle of the dangle and whether or not I can get some reduction boxes mounted up is going to make all the difference in the world here, also my final choice in trailing arms will affect all the angle, too. Lots to consider! I'll get it figured it out, though! Thanks again! 😁👍🦆💩
I did not expect you were going to modify the squareback as much as you are planning to. I don't think I have seen them done like that with the "extended cab". Should be really cool. I guess that if you mount the engine in the bus frame you will have an extra benefit: you could drop the bed of the truck down as your engine will be lower compared to the body. Just too bad you will lose a little bit of ground clearance.
Yeah, because I'm so big I have to push a seat back further than most people so I needed a little more cab space. I figured might as well keep the hatch and do a couple of other neat things. It's the Duckman way! Thanks man!
Yeah that's the way most air-cooled is, but this fuel injected car is smart enough to adjust for a lot of that. It runs well! Thnaks much roe thr comment! 😁👍🏻
@@DuckmanCycles wish I had some old parts to donate to the cause. Another idea would be find a front smashed VW Caddy truck and take the back off of it. Or, go to that guy with all the VW vans on the mountain above Birmingham with a Sawmill and get creative.
I had a caddy offered to me that someone already cut in half... but that lady disappeared without finishing conversation. Oh well... but I’ll find something!
Pretty wild idea on the square back. I like the idea of making room behind the seats. Especially putting the hatch in. You said you make more money from the go-kart videos. Is that because you sponsor Hepa? Just curious. Good video Lord Duckman 🦆. Noel 👍
Question Sir. Does the frontend. And tranny's of a Vanagan 4x4 bolt on similar to these older Volkswagons. I was just wondering if you could take the drivetrain out of a Vanagan and put in these older ones. And make them a 4x4.. I mean anything is possible with a Welder Grinders and torches. But I was wondering if some of it would bolt on or come close. Just asking is all. Great Video. Glad to See Bee on.
The transmission mounts somewhat similar, the front differential is completely different. But for those not in the no, Volkswagens with two wheel drive usually can do just as well as a four-wheel drive vehicle anyway. But yes, with a lot of work you could put a Vanagon Synchro driveline into this... if someone sends me the parts I'll be forced to do it of course LOL! They're getting a little expensive nowadays.

Thanks much! I probably should have videoed the whole air conditioning replacement process... I had to cut the wall open LOL because the new air handler is too big to go through the doorway where the old one was. It's been quite an adventure so far, but nothing too hard.
@@DuckmanCycles I had to do the same with our attic fold down stairs. Supposedly you can "Disassemble" the air handler and make it fit and "Reassemble" it after you get it up in the attic. When looked at all the "Tech Spects Sheets" there was nothing there on how to do that. So for 2 weeks, tore out the fold downstairs & its framing and rebuilt them in between the two rafters - making opening 3 inches wider and longer several inches longer - made a new door, incorporated the fold down stairs. I figured that would better than destroying the steps by ripping them out and then moving the old handler out , putting the new handler in and putting in new fold down steps. The next person that has to install a new HVAC System in our house should not have an issue. Why can't anything be straight forward. Builders never give a Crap because they build around the air handler whether it is going in attic or a closet and it becomes the person who has to replace it, its their problem - to get the old out and new one in and deal with opening or door not big enough to get the Air Handlers out and in.
Yeah and in this case in my house, they had already moved the air handler to another location because the one they installed was bigger than what used to be here LOL... and now its even bigger than that! Once I got it in the wall and sealed everything up I discovered that the drip pan had been cracked. So it was a matter of experimenting to disassemble the air handler inside the wall and remove the pan... turned out it wasn't too hard, there actually wasn't that many parts and all the screws are in sensible locations. I think I got lucky, I don't think any engineer actually thought that far ahead.
