I’m retired now and find it enjoyable to tinker and learn about my dire duramax lg7 “you tube” would have been so helpful in my work yrs. you have a great channel and very informative.
thank you for the video, I was about to start pulling the steering shaft out but figured I'd look on UA-cam to see if there was a way not too. you saved me tons of time, thanks.
Tuesday February 9th 2021 12:45 pm Just watching the show now. Excellent video and explanation. -9f -23c feels like -29f -34c today. I’ll be pulling er in the shop. Thank you for taking the time to film my friends. Have a great day.
Thanks Brother! I got 7 out of the 8 in on my 07 LBZ but could not figure out how to get a good angle on the 8th one behind the steering shaft. Thank you immensely!
Wow!... those were significantly easier than mine! Probably took around an hour to get each one out without breaking them off. Even after I got them screwed all the way out where no threads were engaged, still had to soak them with WD40 and work them back and forth and in and out little by little. What a relief when I finally got the last one out!... I really didn’t want to have to pull the heads!
Thank for the video. Just finished my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. I was most interested in the part with the steering stem being in the way. It was very helpful and informative.
I noticed you didn't clean the carbon out of the glow plug hole. Is this something you don't feel is necessary? thanks. I have a 2004 with the original glow plugs (121k miles) so may be needing to do that in near future. I wish you would do more vids in the future. You do a good job.
Thanks for the comment Jim. No I have never cleaned the carbon out of the glow plugs holes and have never had a problem. I am trying to put out more videos for everyone when I get the time. Thanks for subscribing.
Jim Buford since you have a 2004 duramax. Yours should last pretty much to 300k. I have an 05 with 330k miles and i just ordered my glow plugs which came out to be 180bucks
No mechanic here. -After changing all 8 GP’s, (new ACDelco) two come back showing open circuit. #3 was faulty before I changed all 8 out, and #8 was not faulty before I started. Any ideas? Do I need to change the GP wires?
I would double check the metal stap/bridge is getting a good connection. Also use a meter to see if your getting voltage to the plugs. Maybe try swapping #8 with #7 and #3 with #4 and see if your still getting an open circuit just to make sure you didn't get a couple bad ones.
Soak em in some pb blaster the house before or even the day before if u can let em soak , go heavy and be careful , its the initial breaking it loose thats the sketchiest then your in the clear

Do you have to disconnect the battery terminal or no??
No
dude just did my #8 start the engine and just kick me in the face #5 goes bad both are in now so let's see what happens
They come out that easy? Figured it would be a battle from all heat cycles it would be seized.

Hours before
I'd suggest buying Venom gloves. Won't rip near as easy.
Any body know the point of the little rail there
It’s the glow plug power strap it feeds the voltage to each glow plug when the ignition is turned on.
what if I use a wrench in the 2nd one? does it fit?
Not sure what you mean?
can you say extension for you ratchet?
Get some thicker gloves, man.
