Turin's greatest enemy is his stupidity. But he is not alone. Beleg could have tried waking Turin BEFORE cutting the rope, because you never know. Orodreth could actually think logically ("a much greater force than mine got wiped, maybe I shouldn't challenge those who wiped it") and not compromise his strong position. The bridge-building is so god damn dumb I can't even fathom it. Annihilation will follow if they fail and the bridge stands, so they BOTH attack a much greater force AND make the bridge a freaking monument to craftsmanship. It's like playing russian roulette with 4 bullets and pulling the trigger 3 times. And later on Turin goes mad and kills himself because he banged his sister. Why? I mean, disgusting, but she's not pregnant or anything. You have nothing to live for because you were tricked into doing something you think is vile? Why not just effing gather yourself and use your insane might to kill every servant of the dark lord you see? At least that will make up for some of your mistakes.
@@ParleLeVu Actually, she was pregnant. And killed herself for it when Glaurung told her the truth AND she thought Turin was dead. But that wasn't the only reason Turin killed himself, there were a myriad of others.

Been awaiting yet dreading this part, both because this series on the First Age has been great so far and because of the horrifically tragic moments that happen in the Children of Hurin.
Probably my favourite Tolkien story strangely enough. All his work is masterful but this is such a different and tragic anomaly to the rest of his work it stands quite unique for me
CoH is my favorite Tolkien story. It's the most like an ancient Norse saga - the heroes are strong, and emotional, and deeply flawed; and the villains are powerful and dangerous in ways that the heroes cannot defend against.
Possibly. The audience will have to be ready for a tragic hero. I would fear test audiences don't get that the pride of Turin is a bad thing, and rewrites turn him into the modern hero who is always right, never gets hurt, and kicks all ass with no setbacks.
I was actually thinking the same, this would make a great TV series but then I remembered who would be making it and how they absolutely butchered that other LOTR show which will remain nameless..... perhaps it’s better Tolkien’s works are left on the pages and not touched by incompetent and talentless hacks.... not worth the risk
turin: *rips the top off of a beer, chugs it, eats the can* "morgoth aint sh!t. I can take him." gwindor: "dude thats a terri-" orodreth: "shut up, nerd! cant you see this guy f@cks?"
Glaurung is the coolest thing ever lol. He's a very classical big bad dragon (not like a modern subversion) yet his twisted cunning is psychologically absolutely thrilling. How much is he his own autonomous being and how much is the very voice of Morgoth himself speaking through the dragon.. Love the artwork as always!!!
I have to imagine that while he operates under Morgoth's will, he still is autonomous and capable of making his own choices. From what I remember Glaurung disobeyed Morgoth and went out of Angband to attack the elves before he was fully grown, so there seems to be some level of independence there.
The dragon spell that Glaurung wove that so ensnared and trapped Turin, in the books Smaug attempted something similar the second time Bilbo ventured into his lair, and it almost worked, Bilbo was on the verge of removing this Ring and trotting out of the secret passage when the came to his senses and manged to shake it off. Also while Glaurung's victory was a success for Morgoth, he kind of lost his most powerful chess piece as a result. Because Glaurung took over the ruined halls of Nargothrond and all it's treasure, and made it his new lair. Basically the dragon then refused further orders from Morgoth as he was quite content to guard his treasure hoard and not involve himself further in the conquest of Middle-Earth.

Interestingly the Elves that warned Orodreth and Túrin to destroy the bridge were Gelmir and Arminas, bringing the Valar Ulmo's warning of Nargothrond's fall. On their journey they had crossed paths with Túrin's cousin Tuor. During the threats and insults exchanged between the Elves and Túrin, they said he didn't have the bearings of the House of Hador, whereas Tuor did. Túrin took this insult about the appearance of his mother's dark hair, as the People of Hador had blond hair. The Elves corrected him it was not about appearance but the lack of noble character of his house.
Elves : We got unbeatable army and Commander. Glaurung : Let me introduce myself once more. Elves : I guess we burn. (No plan to take on Dragon just ignore him and let army burn.....)
Turin turambar's life is so awful! Watching his father taken away in battle! Loosing his homeland! Seperation from his family, fleeing his foster home! Going with rougue bandits whom he leads to death, getting captured by orcs! Killing his best friend with his own hands! Having to quarell with his freind! Failing the battle and protecting the people and then put into spell by a Dragon! (More to come while poor Hurin watches it all from Angband)
Remarkable fact turin never ever followed friends advices. He thought he new better. But trusted an evil beast without a doubt when glaurung told him to save his mother and sister and desert finduilas. There was something wrong with him from the beginning.
You know it’s like since he fought Sauron, who was in the form of a werewolf, barehanded they could’ve alluded to that or shown some sort of flashback.

Of all the sad tales of the first age of Middle Earth, the tale of Hurin and Turin are by far the most tragic.
How can these series be more entertaining that Amazon Tv million budget show.
Pride is my guess. Even Galadriel’s brother Finrod I had not recognized in the show because they’d done such a poor job of explaining who he is 😢
